@@paulbcote Definitely John Mayall's Bluesbreakers. He had Eric Clapton, Peter Green, Mick Taylor and later Walter Trout and Carolyn Wonderland. Peter Green went on to found Fleetwood Mac and is considered to be the greatest blues guitarist ever from Great Britain. Mick Taylor joined the Rolling Stones in 1969. Walter Trout most recently had the #1 Blues Album on the charts for 2022 and Carolyn is the newest incredible guitarist who will be a household name one day. Mayall who will be 90 this year has stopped touring.

Susan, l saw them in Llandudno a couple of years ago on one of those 1960s greats tours. Some of the original Yardbirds were in the line-up , including the original lead guitarist before Eric ,, and a couple of younger musicians. They were brilliant! If you get a chance go and see them.

I'd say so. And it looks like he lefts his aura for some great guitarist to follow. Jeff Beck, Jimmy Page in this group, Peter Green with Mayall an played with Duane Allman along with Cream an Blind Faith. I'd say that's one hell of a resume.

Clapton use to play with The Yardbirds in our little old market town of Basingstoke around that time and later with John Mayals Bluesbreakers who were the resident band. Jeff Beck, Peter Green and other now familiar names that gained worldwide fame often played there as well.

Anyone that knows no better would think clapton was the only guitar player worthy of the name, I don't rate him that much, sometimes a player is taken to highs by a few obsessed fans and the sheep all follow along, Peter Green and Danny Kerwin I'd have any day, stevie Ray Vaughan, another one I'd say is the tops!...
