Funny enough that event lead to my hometown in southern Germany celebrating a "festival for the children" every year since, minus last year and this of course. It's pretty large and attracts visitors from far beyond our small town with its size, a lot of rides and general focus on children. The reasoning behind that was that children had to suffer the most under starvation, famine and the general chaos, taking away from what could've been a proper childhood. All schoolchildren get tickets for free rides, food and the likes, but most perform a sort of procession from the center to the festival ground where the recite the events whereafter they get to enjoy the rides and fares for 3 full days, including a day where they don't have to go tk school whilst the adults sit at the largest open air beer tables and have fun amongst themselves. Sorry if I talked to much about it, but it's rare to get to share such a story with the rest of the world, most of which wouldve probably never heard of that.

My guy, west coast fires have little to nothing to do with global warming. It’s the fact that we’ve basically been not doing enough controlled burns or cutting down enough trees there, thereby allowing fuel to just keep accumulating and becoming a huge problem once a fire does inevitably start. It’s very similar to what happened a couple years ago in Beirut with that giant fertilizer explosion. No one decided to manage the fire hazard, so it decided to manage itself.
