You guys gave it all you had but the conditions can get the best of us at times. I've never been hypothermic but it is dangerous when you can't get the help you need. Putting yourself in danger by going on is a personal decision. You made the right decision by standing down and getting the help you needed. Especially for Joe. You guys have a great friendship and it shows in the ultra videos you all have done together. There are other 100 milers to do between now and the next Yeti 100. Or you can regroup and come back again next year to kick some Yeti butt!!!

By far the best video from a cinematic perspective you've created. But more importantly, the spirit I felt while watching you and Joe powering through the trails together nearly overwhelmed me. In a sport where individual success is dominate, seeing the two of you go through all the miles, aid stations, rain, pain, etc. as one cohesive runner, it was no surprise when you said you were there to help Joe out when the hyperthermia was about to set in. Man, the kindred spirit was alive at the Yeti 100 that no rain could've doused!! It's folks like y'all that reiterates in my heart that running and its community is a sport like no other and I'm proud to be a part of it. Beautiful memories, John & Joe, beautiful "brotherhood" 💙👍

Great video as usual John. Your line about how if just one thing goes wrong in an ultra it can destroy your day struck a chord with me. Your videos and encouragement help me get though my first 50 mile ultra in August. Looking back on it I can definitely see how it would have been easy for one thing to ruin my day and am grateful the stars aligned for me. Congrats on the effort and keep spreading the word to average runners about the possibilities and joys of working towards an ultra.

Thank Steven, appreciate the kind words. Again congratulations on that 50, nothing like an ultra to put you to the test and give you plenty of things to reflect on!!💪💪

Incredible video, one of your best! What a day you two had... it completely embodied ultras... from the camaraderie, to the fun, to the struggles, the motivation, and all those things beyond your control. It makes me itch to get out and tackle another, though I'm still stiff from last weekend! 😆 I couldn't believe the 2 girls from Maine, how ironic! I'm looking forward to seeing how you and Joe rebound from this! Great job to you both, and everyone else who struggled through that day!

It got a lot of us last year Doc, not because it was just to hard, it was because it actually got dangerous for many that didn’t have enough of or the right clothes to make it through the 60 to 80ish miles with the cold, wind and the rain. Glad you like this tribute to that day!! See you out in the trails my friend!
