Not that he couldn't. But that flowing sound is only possibly through economy picking. Yngwie has plenty of examples of alternate picking at the same speed. Makes Michaelangelo batio look bad

Sometimes us guitarists have assumptions that make things more difficult for us (like assuming every note is alternate picked or economy picked). I'm realizing that the artists themselves typically play a passage the easiest way for them (except for folks like Eric Johnson which play something the hard way for tone purposes). Especially at high speeds, people won't notice unless they're looking for it specifically.

I actually do that exact technique just going up. It’s really weird I play perfectly 🙄, going down, but I can’t seem to play up very well. 😂

I had the same problem. Play it over and over.again. but gradually go up on tempo everytime you go up. Also another thing I found helpful. Practice it on an acoustic. Then switch to an electric and it feels 100x easier.

@@oscarestrada6276 I meant play the patterns over and ascending and descending. Then gain tempo each time. Same helps with sweep picking. If you can play it slow you can play it fast.

Yngwie mixes it up because he improvises. Sometimes he alternate picks every note and then also does legato, so it's not exactly the same technique in a scale.

I've never had a problem with it. As long as you concern yourself with the finger hitting the right fret at the right time, without losing pace with the tempo, then the technique is good 👍
