For someone who was the youngest member of the Casaya 6, it's a bit surprising that Aras was arguably the one most responsible for holding them together. He was mature beyond his years, as his only real bad moment of the season in my view was his slandering Terry, but I applaud him for apologizing for it in a mature way. And by the end, Terry was happy to give Aras a million dollars.
@kittycatcat69622 жыл бұрын
That's a pretty brutal slanderous claim, it's cool he was mature enough to apologize to Terry, but still I don't think I would be able to forgive somebody for that, it's a pretty hard stain to get out

I love Aras so much. His and Cirie's ability to keep the lunatics together is actually unparalleled. One point of note that I never see people bring up is how many of the show's moments are the other castaways voicing their frustrations to Aras and Cirie. In that one scene where Shane is complaining about Danielle and Cirie after the reward - he's talking to Aras. Courtney vents her frustrations about Shane on the beach to Cirie. The two of them were sound boards, able to keep the alliance together through mediation and sanity. It really goes to show how much good credit the two of them had, that they managed to get so far in the game. Aras had a good shot at winning Blood vs. Water, too, if it wasn't for Tyson. Definitely one of the most underrated winners.
@softlyoutspoken37702 жыл бұрын
Sorry, but Aras was right in the loved ones argument with Terry. Yeah, he could have let it go, but Terry didn't have to rationalize not picking Danielle by saying, "It was just her mom". At that point, everyone has been away from their loved ones, and it's incredibly rude to act like those who brought a spouse or their kid are more deserving. As the challenge winner, it was Terry's choice, but his reasoning was flimsy and didn't need to be verbalized. I always appreciated Aras for standing up to that.
@OnceUponAnIsland2 жыл бұрын
The are both on the wrong in how they handled it. No one is factually correct and they both fought.

@@OnceUponAnIsland Like I said, Aras could have let it go. But Terry started it by making those comments about Danielle's mom. Why kick others who are down when you just won time with your loved one? I like Terry, but he was out of line with that and deserved to be called out. It's not like Aras tore into him the way he did later when he accused Terry of being sexist (which is a much better example of how Aras can be in the wrong with his conduct towards Terry).

Aras was 200% in the right about the loved ones argument. To me, it’s very similar to when people try to say “well I have kids, I should get this privilege”- it’s not the rest of the world’s fault that you made children. It’s not Aras’ fault that his mom was his loved one? Like what if he had a wife and she was busy, so his mom came instead; (I know that’s not how it actually went down but say it was) should Aras automatically lose the reward because his mom showed up? No. That doesn’t make any sense to me. Terry might have been a beast in the challenges, but he was so insufferable to watch everywhere else. He thought he was better than everyone else in that tribe and he made very little effort to hide that imo. I was so happy it was Aras who walked away with the million dollar check.

I always enjoyed Aras, both of his times on the show. He's not a big character or top winner or anything, he's kinda just a natural, chill guy. A good audience surrogate. Plus, I didn't like Terry the first time I watched Panama, so that automatically gave Aras some points.

A really funny thing about the vote that took out Courtney: it was the _best_ move he, specifically, made (and it ultimately fueled the others). His immunity win at the Final Four forced the conditions at that particular Tribal Council and led to the fire-making tie-breaker.

He was largely responsible for turning 'Panama: Exile Island' into a popularity contest like 'Nicaragua'. That season had the same problem that this one had. Dividing the tribes up by age at the start badly impacted the game. Someone hit the nail on the head in videos from 'Oz the Great and Powerful'. When Mila Kunis called James Franco's character, "nothing but a deceitful, selfish, and extremely mortal man", those words do describe Aras perfectly. He is a forgettable and unlikeable winner. Also, what he did to Melinda Hyder in episode 2 was like what Jamie Newton did to the people on the outs during the merge episode of 'Guatemala'. He wasn't showing class and neither was Aras. At least Jamie admitted that what he did was wrong and got his comeuppance for it. Aras never got his. Pure simple his win was a fluke. Someone with 9 votes cast against him prior to the final tribal council isn't deserving. The final immunity challenge was also completely unfair to Terry Deitz, who had a 0% chance of winning it. Aras and Danielle were the worst final two since Brian and Clay of 'Thailand'. Neither one of them had any reason to be brought back for future seasons. If any good came from their returns, it's that their torches were finally snuffed when that should've happened in their initial season.

@@arasbaskauskas8263 If you really are Aras, I don't have anything further to say to you after these three things. First is that your season was also the first season of 'Survivor' not to place in the top 10 most-watched shows of any television season. Second, the fact that you and Danielle were such a lousy final two was what led to the producers deciding to have a final three for the majority of seasons that followed. Third and finally is that in a fan poll conducted by Entertainment Weekly in 2017 where they asked to rank the first 34 winners, you received the fewest 1st place votes out of any winner in the poll. You got even less than J.T. Thomas who received 1.2% of them.
