I did the Holley mid mount, I pieced it together and came out cheap than Holley's whole kit.. It can be done! I saved over half! Ill explain if need be, no point unless asked.. Its alot to type out, however to save over 1k, is money in my pocket! Its a great kit, in my case I also went "turbo" so to "pull" all the accessories closer is much much better!

@lsxmatt I'm doing this swap as well and those dirty dingo sliders made the world of difference. I got rid of the ac. They do make accessory drives that swap everything around. Corvette/camaro intake will bolt up and work perfectly.

I own a shop. We specialize in LS swaps. But we do all kinds of swaps including coyote, our second most popular swap, hemi, honda etc. We do alot of other stuff but anyways.. nobody has ever asked about a new gen 5 swap. I decided to start researching because id like to do a swap as an advertisement / demo vehicle. And you have made my mind up on a 3rd gen camaro or firebird for that swap. It seems fairly easy and straight forward. Id like to know what you guys do about vats/immobilizer in the ecu tho because ive read that u cannot program it out. However i am just the business owner not the mechanic lol tho i do know alot, my techs might already even have the answer or could find it.

You could put an AC delete plate in there, then use something like a Vintage Air evaporator inside the car.

I have a question. I'm building a 37 CHev PU with an L83. Working through the details. Haven't solved the Power Steering pump yet, but have a good idea on a source. I'm wondering what the small nipple on the thermostat housing is for. Is it a bypass of the thermostat and if so, where does it go. If you don't mind, I'll ask other questions as they arise

You should use the Volvo electric power steering pump/reservoir so that way you won’t need to run a belt driven pump.

Tried telling you to get the mounts from ICT Billet as well as the rest of what your going to need... I’ve already fitted the 6l80, use the HawksMotorSport 4l60 conversion cross member and it all bolts up.... and you NOT doing a DOD AFM delete???

The only ict billet plates I found are for the old gen 1 clam shells. I have a hawks crossmember for the trans in storage and I’m leaving the dod stuff intact, just not using it. I’m planning on running it 100% stock for the first few thousand miles.

Why can't you just bolt the ls1 mounts on the engine without an adapter? The k-member was made for an LS conversion, it should just take stock mounts.

The spacing on the block is different being its a gen v. The holes don’t line up with the ls mount.

What viscosity of oil will you run 0W-20? I have a 2018 Sierra with the L86 motor and I opted to run 5w-20 instead. I'm tempted to go up to 5w-30 since I don't live in freezing climate.

Your using the mounts backwards your putting the frame mounts on the block

Which mounts? The plates are suppose to bolt to the block and the clam shell mounts are for an ls which also bolt to the block.

@@brucedrake904 When I say clam shell I’m referring the the actual mount itself with the rubber inside it. I have an ls1 k member so it doesn’t accept sbc mounts, its just a fork welded to the frame.

hey matt I have a question I have an 84 trans am and it's not turning over at all not by hand not by the starter I pulled out the spark plugs and there was rust on every single one I believe water got into the engine through the carburetor. I can't get the engine to turn over at all whats my next step?

You can try pulling all the plugs and squirting some transmission fluid into the cylinders. Let it sit for a few days and try cranking it over by hand again. You could also have a valve stuck open which a piston could be hitting. I would pull the valve covers and give them all a tap with a rubber mallet to make sure none are stuck.

I tried using WD-40 rust penetrant and I still couldn't get it to turn over transmission fluid would be a better option? And also I live in an apartment complex so doing that in the apartment parking lots a little difficult but if I have to do it I will

Dollars to Donuts, you'll be better off using a car intake and an aftermarket serpentine drive. Plan ahead, and Future proof her. Please do more with the Trans Am. I'm not here for the Tahoe, Third Gen for life. Edit: Guess you have the intake problem solved already lol

Its getting future proofed for sure in stage 2. The initial swap and n/a run will be as budget friendly as possible being a lot of people want a simple budget swap. I’m planning on keeping the truck accessories and running the car intake at first.
