MOMOTARO & GENKI Family ( Momotaro Fam)
Father MOMOTARO ♂(2000/7/3)　
He is hesitant in new situations and is a loner.
His father died before he was born, and he had never spent time with a silverback.
He had already turned into a silverback by the time he was 10 years old.
He is struggling with unfamiliar child-rearing.
MOMOTARO's father is BIJU.
MOMOTARO's mother is MOMOKO
　　
Mother GENKI ♀ (1986/6/24)　　　
She is 14 years older than Momotaro and has a role to support the whole family mentally.
She has had a tumultuous and eventful life.
She has returned to her birthplace, Kyoto City Zoo.
She had never been blessed with a baby but after meeting Momotaro,
she had two sons.
She is a very maternal female gorilla.
GENKI's father is MAKK.
GENKI's mother is HIROMI.
First son GENTARO, male (2011/12/21)
He was separated from his mother Genki soon after he was born.
Genki's milk production was not very good.
He was raised by his keeper for his first10 months.
Because of this, he is very fond of humans.
His face is so expressive, and everyone enjoys watching him.
Second son KINTARO ♂ (2018/12/19)
He is just very strong-willed and independent.
He has big eyes and long eyebrows.
The way he plays a lot with his brother Gentaro makes everyone smile.
We can't wait to see what kind of gorilla he'll become!

Other than his displays of strength, we are lucky Gentaro does not have a bold nature and is not intent on challenging his father, Momotaro. However, Kintaro does have a bold personality, and it will be interesting to see how he develops as he gets older.

So in short they have nowhere to put him so he stays until there is or until one kills or maims the other.Don't beat around the bush.There is not enough room for them all now they are grown.And Genki does not need to get pregnant again at all ,leave her be,she has done her work and then some,let her live out her days in peace,she deserves it.

@@RJ18527theres no laws in place that force them to do the best thing for these animals. They are basically property that makes the zoo money. That’s really their purpose here. In the wild gentaro would have left 2 years ago. These animals are bored and unhappy. Hence why there is rampant incest which GL doesnt want to show. But another gorilla channel is showing it. Momo mating with both of his sons. Gentaro mating with kintaro. Genki mating with everyone. This is happening because they are locked up and dont have options.

I agree with another commenter. Momotaro and Gentaro will have to be separated and in the not too distant future. Two males of their size and age cannot possibly live in such a small space without friction and that's no good for anyone. As for Genki, I don't think she is fit enough to raise another child and she only has around two more years for it to happen. I am surprised that Japanese zoos can't find a place and mate for Gentaro, overseas if necessary, and perhaps another female to join this group. That could be a potential mate for Momotaro and a female companion for Genki. There's also Kintaro's future to be considered. He's still young but time passes quickly and he'll be an adult male too in a few years time. How do zoos in Japan raise money to fund transfers overseas ? I would be interested to know. Thank you. 😊

GL, I do agree with the fact that Gentaro has a sweet non confrontational personality. We are blessed that he is since there is no real plan to move him. Unfortunately it seems there are not many if any choices. But even so, even if he no threat to Momotaro right now, he still deserves to have his own family in the near future. I pray things remain calm until they get a real game plan together. As another reader wrote, Kintaro is a different story. Bless his heart but he is active and very assertive. Some of it could be his youth. But it is clear that he doesn’t have Gentaro’s gentle more submissive personality. I pray that the powers that be are actively working on a plan. I agree that Kintaro will be fine without Gentaro. He is very good at entertaining himself and staying active. Plus he is very close to mommy G. At first I thought it would be nice to have another baby but I kind of agree with some of the others online. Maybe just let her enjoy the rest of her life in peace. Another baby is hard on a body and she’s getting older . She is blessed with two beautiful boys . Thanks for the information GL !

Not sure why that Japanese zoos don’t have a better plan in place for their gorillas. It’s a huge problem that the current generation are mostly related and there are no viable options for this generation to reproduce. I guess from an outsiders perspective it’s really negligent an not showing a true respect for the animals welfare, but I’m sure it could me more complex, I just think it’s sad.

Some Zoos in Japan are privately owned, I believe- unlike here. We also get funding from the government, whereas Japan zoos do not and they mainly survive by visitors fees. Babies encourage more visitors, which is why the zoos are happy when they come, but they don't have any planning or additional funding as they get older. @GorillaLife, is Kyoto one of the privately owned zoos? In the past, their standard of care has not been considered ideal, and that's why they don't exchange their animals abroad, as we see others do.

My understanding is that in the past Genki was very distressed that she lost her pregnancy and lost her mate (Momotaro's dad) to another female. I do not think it is so easy to just match Momotaro with a new female, We're one available without considering the emotional impact on Genki.

Shabani was raised with a whole troop including his father Kibabu. Momotaro was alone until they paired him with Genki. And also they have different personalities like we do❤🦍 Maybe the zoo should consider moving Gentaro to another country possibly America🤷🏽‍♀️ there's so many Gorillas here in the states that would pair nicely with Gentaro. I hope he can have his own family one day. Gorillas are huge and need a lot of space. We all know he can't live with Momotaro forever because soon he will start to challenge him.

Por isso, eu acho acertada a decisão dos tratadores. Creio que, a priori, só haverá impossibilidade de convivência se tiverem que dividir a mesma fêmea. Já vi brigas entre gorilas-fêmeas também.
