Great video Gary, I personally don't have a zutano but many have told me to get one. I just might. Thanks for sharing, another enjoyable video to watch!

I have 2 zutano trees only 1 yr and 3 yr and they can definitely handle the cold mine have been through so much frost in past 3 yrs without protection and still looking good and surviving.

My first ever meager avo harvest were Zutanos (half dozen, one of my smaller avo trees, only about 1" plus trunk) just couple months ago, ripening times seem to vary widely depending on location and so on? I was pleased with fruit, didn't bother to peal, eating skin was barely noticed.

Yes, I get lazy sometimes and eat the skin too. I usually peel it and eat any excess off the skin directly. Like a savage.

Thx for the videos on the dispised avos, Zutano, Bacon, Jim, and Wurtz...seems most are lusting after GEMS, JBs, Reeds, etc.

Will the Wurtz A/B cross pollinate an A type tree?
@JohnPritzlaff Жыл бұрын
@@pmojodomino Yes I am fairly sure it will

My first ever avo "harvest", just half dozen, one of my smallest avo trees, was Zutano early this yr. I was pleasantly surprised, didn't bother pealing just eat the skin which is barely noticed. Slightly nutty flavor with nothing disagreeable about it unless picky about a bit of pit skin sticking to fruit.

True that and on top of that these more Mexican thrive up here whereas the Guatemalans are kind of a new addition in comparison.

I'm so glad you said they're good because I know they're bullet proof and many people say they are bland and watery. But compared to most of these FL. avos I bet I will love them. Yes I'm going to try to grow one in Florida. Why not?

I just got one from home depot. Will one zutano tree give me avocados, or do I need to buy two zutano trees?

Thanks as always for your excellent info Gary. Question: why use Zutano as rootstock? Why not use the MOST cold hardy tree as rootstock (lMexicoal?), since the roots are at the most dangerous risk from frost damage? -(the leaves can always grow back if the roots are ok, correct?) Thanks

Seed size is factored in and they are consistently BIG. Big seed = big roots (in principle)
