Just tried Rouvy and what sticks with me is the realism in gear selection. I can often use the same gears I would use outside and because of the HD video it's possible to see the gradient changes on time (HUD helps a lot). With a proper big screen in front of you it's quickly immersive. Zwift is great for the group ride aspect, but this just feels actually like being outside and enjoying the view
@ibe9662 ай бұрын
@@pjetrs One reason for the gear selection realism is that Rouvy defaults to 100% trainer difficulty, whereas Zwift defaults to 50%. Upping the trainer difficulty to 100% in Zwift sets the shifting realism on par with Rouvy.

I have used Rouvy for years now and really like riding the routes of real races. Rouvy has sections of Challenge triathlons, the Tour of the Alps, Tour de Suisse and many others besides the Vuelta and interesting scenery generally. I have done a virtual ride in Raratonga in the Cook Islands! With my outdoor cycling season ending in early November and not really starting again until the end of April Rouvy keeps me sane.

Highly recommend Rouvy if you're maybe not too keen on the zwift style and want a very realistic cycling experience. The drafting physics is excellent and as its on real worlds it's very immersive. As we get into winter here in the northern hemisphere it's getting quite busy now on some races, which is great as that's one area where it lags behind zwift a bit.

Rouvy is great. I like the mix of the avatar in the live video ride and it uploads easily and quickly to my Garmin account to track training. It is easy to log on and sync to my Saris trainer at home. I can even sync it to a Life Fitness machine at work on the North Slope in Alaska.

3 questions/concerns: 1) You mention group rides and that you can talk to each other. How do you speak to each other through this app? Headsets, webcam, something else? Is the communication through this app or other means? 2) I'm not a racer, but an endurance cyclist. I go out for long rides. I've avoided Zwift as it seems very racing oriented. Is Rouvy more focused on races or are there longer rides? 3) Is it just roadways, or are there any trails (cement, not gravel)? Some of the best rides I've done are away from the main roads and on trails (maybe that go by a river) where you can be really immersed in the scenery.
@pierremaggi86612 ай бұрын
1) I havent try talking functions 2) there are regular races but all routes can be ridden alone, which is most rides actually. So you can ride any length routes you want, the longent vidéos are up to 3hours climbs. 3) Recently they have more and more Gravel routes. However the road surface is not simulated, so no vibration even on tacx neo
@alexeydanilchenko4342 ай бұрын
> Zwift as it seems very racing oriented. Not really, I have been riding Zwift whole past winter not participating in any races. If you can tolerate the gamey look and feel then I think there are rides there for pretty much every occasion. And lots of riders on any route (real one) makes it more interesting to chase some of them up every now and then to see if I can keep up... I tried Rouvy this year since wanted to have a feel for real rides out there but did not work for me (issues with videosm even downloaded ones)

Tacx had an * enourmous * number of real-life videos for their training software that preceeded Zwift (and well before they were acquired by Garnin). I highly preferred them over the video game feel of Zwift, especially for longer Z rides.

Is there anyway to use the swift smart hub with Ruovy
@RandumbNam32 ай бұрын
Yes and No. It will connect to Rouvy but you won’t be able to shift in free ride mode, group ride, or race. It will work just fine in ERG Mode and/or a workout.
@bikeradar2 ай бұрын
If you've got a Zwift Hub smart trainer with the Zwift Cog on it, then you can connect it to Rouvy but you'll be better off removing the Zwift Cog and installing a normal cassette - you can disassemble the Cog with a standard cassette lockring tool and a chain whip. Otherwise, as @RandumbNam3 says, you won't be able to change gears in free ride mode. Hope that helps, but let us know if you have any other questions! Thanks for watching.

How long is the 1 month trial code valid for? I used RGT and when they killed it got a years Zwift as compensation....Like an unwanted child I've learned to like it, but I don't race or do group yakking I just need a winter sanity saver and Rouvy seems to fit what I'd prefer(looks like the outside not cartoon land) when Zwift runs out in December. Concerns for the video quality, is that something affected by the platform you use? (I have an i5-13500/RTX4060Ti which runs Zwift at Ultra/2160 at a solid 60fps on a 4K 55"TV)

Biggest problem for any of the video based cycle apps like Rouvy, FulGaz is you have video recorded from a car at car speeds, but then once you slow that down to cycling speed the frame rate is too low and you get choppy video. I’ll admit FulGaz does have a lot of video recorded on bike so the experience is much smoother. But for Rouvy the choppy video kills it.
@alexeydanilchenko4342 ай бұрын
Even worse, on a few rides I have done in Lake District and Scotland, their videos were shot on a relatively slow moving motorbike so when you going downhill at a speed exceeding speed of the video, your cyclist tend to runaway and it takes a while for video to catch up. I have tried all Rouvy support suggested settings but none really helps. I am running it on Android Galaxy device from 2018 and apart from Rouvy so far it has been adequate for pretty much all other cycling simulator. Yes the ride feel is a bit more realistic (not downhill since I frequently spin out there at 25+ mph but normally in real life I only spin out at 37+ mph) but those overall video issues, lack of ambient sounds and spinning out downhills were quite annoying for me and made me abandon it.

Not much. Maybe some first videos years ago? Have no problem with video ever on Rouvy last 2 years... Things are improving... And most videos are recorded from scooter..
@GS-pk9rd2 ай бұрын
Not really seen this in 20 months of using Rouvy. They've steadily improved quality of routes too. On a fast, twisty descent it's possible for your avatar to disappear as it gets in front of your view momentarily, as it won't speed the video up above a certain multiple. (You still know where you are talkative to others and what gradient you're on).. But that's a small price to pay for otherwise smooth video. If it was recorded on bike then it'd be choppy and tilt, which is not ideal for a simulation on an app when your own bike isn't moving!
@ibe9662 ай бұрын
I fully agree. I occasionally try Rouvy now and then, and even though Rouvy has reduced the choppiness in their recent releases, there's still the problem with cars passing you at a snails pace since the video is shot at higher speeds. The scenery is realistic (obviously), but I just can't call the whole experience realistic because of that. If they could manage to use AI to remove traffic from their videos, THEN I think Rouvy would become a serious contender...

@@Vanadiumhave to strongly disagree. I use Rouvy ( and Zwift) on a 100 inch 1080p projection and it is amazing. It can depend on the route is recorded and how fast you ride ( because you are not watching a replay of a video, the frames are provided depending on how fast you are going compared to the speed of the car recording it. 99% of the routes look amazing, including the two that I recorded and provided to Rouvy.
