Great video.Thank you.One more thing to clearify about setting for color grading. Do you shot in standard mode or flat for color grading? Also,I want to know your opinion for shooting in doors and lower lighting situations like twilights.Insta doesn't recommend to shoot 8k30 or 5K+30 but some vlogers suggest that better to shoo 8K30 with ISO Auto upto 800max and manual shetter speed of 1/100 -1/200 range.What is your experience with it?Also,if it is better to shoot alway as widest option in settings?Thank you so much in advance.I would get ypur course later but I would be great to know those setting because I am on vacation in Europe and planning to visit museum and shoot with Insta360 x4 indoors but I guess Museum of Vatican will have good lighting

What if i do everything like in this video and still have noise, color artifacts in shaded areas with my X4 at iso 100? Just basic info in this video, like clear your lens which is evident. Not a single word about ISO or color setting (standard, flat? which is better?) or about noise reduction in post - which hopefully will solve my issue, otherwise i will send my X4 back :(

Just saying this here. I’m a Fitness Content Creator. I don’t have time to frame myself all the time, so having a 360 camera is perfect. Yes, you lose resolution, but in my opinion, the x4 shouldn’t be your main shooter. I have a pocket 3, the x4, and my iPhone. Pocket 3 is my go to vlog camera, x4 is my dedicated gym shooter, and my phone is my life camera

How do you do it? Thank you! 😊

It should be said that if you doubt the sunlight is overall lighting is the scene well, then you should not shoot in 8k!!! I made the mistake of not checking the settings in afternoon after shooting in completely sunny morning and if is not perfect out, the sensors take a dump on your video and you get a lot of noise. You have to go DOWN to 5.7K immediately if you don't have great sunshine. I have many videos where overcast came and the video is grainy because it is 8k.

Is it ok to export recorded H265 to H264 format?
@shiouming3 ай бұрын
Hi, thanks for sharing the great tips. I don't have any software for editing ProRes, am considering to get one. Based on your experience, is there any quality difference specifically in terms of softness and noise, between exporting insv -> mp4 with Insta Studio vs exporting insv -> ProRes -> mp4 by using third party software? Are techniques in your video course applicable to 360 video (non-reframed)? Thank you.
@The360Guy2 ай бұрын
If you don't intend on editing your videos then exporting insv > MP4 would be fine. Prores is useful when doing some editing in between the final export. Yes the course has a whole section on shooting/editing non reframed 360 videos

@bigbirdmusic81993 ай бұрын
It's perfectly fine indoors, unless your audience has as high expectations as you do (they dont)
@ScarmackProductions3 ай бұрын
Just note, exporting in Pro Res is pointless unless it's shot in Pro Res. You don't gain anything by exporting in a better quality format than it was originally shot in. Just larger files
@jimizell3 ай бұрын
There is a benefit because ProRes is an intermediate codec. If you export h.264/h.265, import to an editor, make edits and/or color correction, then export another video you will incur degradation (albeit minor) but keep repeating that process and the quality will continue to degrade. And there is a quality difference between exporting ProRes on the desktop app vs exporting from the phone app. ProRes as an "end" codec is inefficient because it's space intensive and if the video is finalized (no more edits) there is no worries about quality degradation.
@johnd9357Ай бұрын
When you compare the mobile app to the studio desktop app you didn’t give it a fair comparison. You exported the studio footage at 4K with high bitrate and you exported the footage from the mobile app at 1080p and low bitrate which obviously will make it look worse by comparison. Why not export the mobile app footage at 4K high bitrate as well? It’s as easy as clicking some buttons.

Capcut does not upload in good quality. At least I have had zero positive experience with it
@Ozpeter5 ай бұрын
I've only just seen this. I have a few comments. First, X3 is officially 1440p reframed while the X4 is officially 2.7k - of course it does depend on how far the image is zoomed in, but those are the typical numbers that Insta360 state. Next, in the very few videos that have done side by side comparisons of the sharpness settings, it's evident that low sharpness is best avoided with this camera (unlike many) as the 8k 360 resolution is lost and the video looks worse than an X3 video. Yes, you can try to change sharpness when editing if you are really keen but many users are probably not into that. Lastly, yes Capcut is free for short videos but you have to pay if you want to go past 15 minutes. Cheers! [Edited to confess that actually I commented on this video a month ago. Old age of catching up on me ..]

As far as I am concerned, setting sharpness to low totally negates the advantage of the 8k 360 capture. There have been few careful side by side tests uploaded, but those I have seen make it very clear that low sharpness on this particular camera loses detail as well as sharpness, and it can't be recovered later. And as you imply in your introduction to this very helpful video, any 360 camera needs all the help it can get when reframing to lower resolutions. But having said that, I would concede that it is a matter of taste. But my taste is best, ho ho.
@The360Guy6 ай бұрын
Sure it's a matter of taste. I have mine set to medium, and I tested high and didn't like it
@Steve211Ucdhihifvshi4 ай бұрын
Bullshit, sharpness isnt sharpness its called noise, the camera will add noise to make the image look sharper, you should always select lowest setting and add sharpening in post because you cant take it away easily.
@Ozpeter4 ай бұрын
@@Steve211Ucdhihifvshi Check out Philip Bloom's video on detail sharpness and noise. Three different things. They are interrelated because for instance increasing sharpness will add sharpness to the noise and make it more obvious. Sure you can add sharpness in post but many users will simply want to use the output of the camera as it is. With low sharpness with this camera, it doesn't look good as comparison videos have clearly shown.
