Thanks for that EXCELLENT review - after watching it I ordered one from Amazon to put on my self defense shotgun. I especially like the 65 MOA circle reticle - if I did my math right this translates to covering a 4 inch diameter circle at 6.25 yards (18.75 feet) which is typical self-defense indoor for my house. Thanks!

This is currently, and has been for some time, one of my favorite non magnified optics on the market. Had mine for years, only replaced the battery once. Shake awake is excellent and 2MOA is my preferred dot size. In terms of what you get vs cost, this thing is great. I have the green dot version, love it. They’re perfect for closer shooting, very reliable. Have mine on a 300BLK and it holds zero very well. Only need to adjust if I’m changing where I want it zeroed, it’s never lost zero in the past, when removing it and putting it back on the rig

As an engineer that likes comparisons and data, this was a fantastic video. You've earned my subscription, and I can't wait to see what other content you bring to us! One question: can the solar panel power the optic on its own, or does it only supplement the battery?
@The4GunGuy3 жыл бұрын
Hi KAISERLAND! Thanks for the kind words my friend! According to the Holosun website: Holosun’s Solar Failsafe Technology is an innovative feature pioneered by Holosun in red dot sights. Solar Failsafe allows the red dot sight to remain powered when your battery fails. Holosun optics with Solar Failsafe feature automatic brightness adjustment; when you’re under the sun you have a bright reticle, when you move indoors it will automatically dim down to match ambient lighting conditions. So the solar panel can power the red dot without the battery. I'm going to do a check for you later and will see if their statement is true. Thanks for watching and of course, the sub! Shoot Straight!

It would be a good idea to keep the tool in the grip of your riffle because the tip is used for the windage & elevation adjustment. It is very narrow and a bullet shell or a screw driver are too thick, unless the screw driver is very small. I went to the range & I was glad I brought the tool with me. Just Saying. 👈😎👉

Hi Arthur! Great point. I actually do have the tool in my backpack that I take everywhere so all good. Thanks for watching my friend and shoot straight!
@GeorgiaBoy19613 жыл бұрын
The tool is small-enough to fit inside a stock or fore-grip storage compartment, if that helps. Many multi-tools and pocket knives have a small screwdriver blade that works, too.

The Holosun HS510C is a tremendous value right out of the box, delivering excellent performance, innovative features, and more for a very reasonable price well-below EoTech and other competitors. Try one - you'll be glad you did.

One thing that wasn't mentioned but I think is worth noting is that you can actually remove the battery, and as long as you have adequate sunlight and/indoor lighting, you'll still have a functional reticle, as the solar panel produces enough power to run the red dot and/or the circle without a working battery.
@The4GunGuy3 жыл бұрын
Hi NS! I do mention it at 4:50 as I go through my comparison matrix, but totally agree that I could have really called that great feature out further into the overview of the optic. Hey thanks for watching my friend and for the great input and observation! Shoot straight!

Nice comprehensive review! I especially appreciate the comparison matrix because in addition to the Holosun 510c, I'm also considering the Vortex Venom for my shotgun that will be used for targets and home defense. Since you've used both, which you think would be best suited for that purpose? Things to consider are the window size, the reticle types/size and the overall size. Pricing doesn't really matter, but I am able to get the Venom for $169.
@The4GunGuy8 ай бұрын
Hi Mark! I think for a shotgun, which will be coming off target more after the shot, I'd go with the Holosun since it has that larger window. I'm still using it with no issues at all. Good luck with the new sight and thanks for watching my friend!

@@The4GunGuy Makes sense. One more question, do you have to re-zero the HS510 after removing/replacing the sight?

@@The4GunGuy I know al sights can be pretty sensitive, but the quick release feature sort of begs the question, otherwise why have it? I think as long as you push the sight firmly forward when mounting it, there shouldn't be a problem.

What are your thoughts in using this optic in inclement weather---since the LED emitter is exposed? How crisp is the reticle compared to red dots? Great video.
@The4GunGuy4 жыл бұрын
Great question John! After reading, I took out the PCC and dropped drops of water directly onto the emitter...As expected, the reticle was blocked, but interestingly enough, just the bottom half since the water drops had 'fallen' off the emitter once I brought the PCC horizontal as in a firing position. The emitter is set back a bit, so unless you were in a torrential downpour, I'm not sure how much water would actually get to the emitter. Now, from a fogging up perspective, I'm sure that the reticle would be somewhat hampered by fogging (but this could happen as well with a red dot, not fogging on the inside, but the outside). Hope this little test helped and thanks for watching and your comment! Shoot Straight my friend!

Hi J Rod! Thanks for the kind words! I've found that in 3-gun competition, the green reticle sometimes gets absorbed in the background, especially if it's a "woody" stage, so I go with the red which stands out. Thanks for watching and Shoot Straight!
