I'm doing my first grow. I used compost that I made with leaves and stuff and some dirt from the Home Depot and apparently I lucked out and have it dialed in perfectly. My plant is huge, and bushy and green, no yellow or brown leaves. I fertilize with blood meal, bone meal, earthworm castings, and some fish based stuff called Morebloom, which is 0-10-10. I do small amounts kind of often. This thing is super healthy. Hopefully I don't fuck up but it's doing really well now.

I’m checking off all the right boxes according to this video. Minnesota makes sure we don’t crowd our grow space with their four plants in flower and four in veg rule. I have copies of that PH chart along with feeding schedules hanging on the wall and set ppfd and DLI according to charts. I’m not right on with temp and humidity but am always solidly within the recommended range. The only time I’m off a bit on recommend temp and humidity is when I’ve got something in the drying tent and veg stage. Then I have to compromise and get up to the 70-72 range while drying. Aside from that it’s always within range and if the veg tent is empty I can zero in closer to 60/60. Range is the key word here that is sometimes overlooked. Outdoor growers deal with deer, storms, drought, and this summer monsoons. Like I say, they dry in the pole barn and do a fantastic job based on past samples. I feel pretty good as I’m on top of proper watering as well. That all came naturally from planting outdoor gardens and having a yard to take care of since 1974. I like these episodes where I don’t feel like any changes are needed. Validation that I guessed right.

I've got a 3 x 3 and it has 6 3 1/2 gallon pots and I opting for two more because altho the space is tight it is there. Ive done it before and I keep everything trimmed and tidy at all times and work hard to keep the plants from overlapping or touching each other and keep them smaller than I normally would with less plants. The benefit is that if one or two plants don't grow well the others will make up for it. Interestingly enough with just four plants I had my biggest harvest but those were with 5 gallon buckets. And let me tell ya G13 is a seriously stinky strain. But I do believe Scotty is right about the plants wanting and needing there own space and even if there not touching or overlapping they seem to know its to tight. Somehow they know.

7:00 overwatering is only an issue with young root systems. Ie; germination and early veg. This is critical Scotty!!! Most KZbinrs are stunting during germination and early veg from too much moisture extending veg times. Then they underwater when the roots are mature causing osmotic shock that looks like deficiencies. It's not overwatering or underwatering, it's insufficient irrigation, PERIOD. It's time to understand root hairs during early rooting, fresh air availability to the substrate (this is where co2 supplements fail you Scotty!) and most importantly, growers must get a handle on the moisture needs of the plant. This comes from growing experience ONLY. Learning to irrigate appropriately comes with HANDS ON EXPERIENCE ONLY. You can't overwater with mature root systems unless you're trying to. But you can easily underwater because of irresponsible KZbin advice... Grow to know!

I just popped a plant and almost killed it because I let it go an extra day without water, it drooped and didn't return to form until almost two days later. The other plant just continued to droop until I put it out of its misery. Now the one plant that ended up coming back is growing really slow, been three weeks and not yet big enough to uppot. Is this what is meant by "stunting?"

I like DWC for a few reasons that my buddy on CoCo still doesn’t get. First, the weekly change of water isn’t waste if you spray your lawn with it 😂 Second, I personally don't like mediums that can make the house a mess if animals get into it. Plus, texturally, I’m not a fan of any of them. And third, I missed the sound of an aquarium but could only pick that or a 3x3 tent. Smoked fish is good, smoked me is better 😜 I’m just glad my wife is into the “24/7 sounds of pasta boiling” coming from the Livingroom Might need to use coco as a buffer between DWC grows just to keep her onboard lmao

I'm having good luck with organic. As you said it takes awhile for the nutrients to break down, but you can time it. I'm using blood meal for nitrogen and also worm castings. Also using bone meal and some liquid fish based stuff which is 0-10-10, I think it's called Morebloom. I use pretty small amounts kind of often and it's doing great, lots of growth and no yellow or brown leaves. If you do it just right those products are constantly feeding just the right amount.

Ipm. That has been a problem a few times. I was able to kick plants outdoors and hit with neem. Yet another reason I don't grow indoors in summer. I had 4 autos that were too far into bud to plant outdoors. But knew at 22-25 days when they showed sex I was NOT getting a good yield for auto. My water table is low this year. So had to dig a few new holes. Did use some recharge not all of it went to the sweet corn. Think the cedar root in gave clone #4 a peppery taste last year. I expanded that hole this year. And same clones. Ultimate purple fast photo x skunk hero x b2. Shows sex like an auto but photo dependent. Done earlier then regular photos for my environment and shorter grow season. We have had a lot of rain in upper great lakes too. Which hasn't made up for lack of snow. It's made floods.

One thing I'm guilty of, and I think, will help someone that's getting into living soil is living soil does not like dry back or letting the soil get somewhat dry before the next watering. As a breeder of cannabis for 8yrs and growing for over 23yrs I've never used AC or a dehumidifier or humidifier I live in the north east in winter humidity is down as low a 25 and summer high today 6/23/2024 its 82% even in flower i almost never have bud rot or powder mildew etc bc air flow is key most people focus on i need xyz to grow so they dont grow my flowers are the best around in the group of people I know and the dispensary is trash. I'm not saying that temps and humidity don't affect cannabis but u can manipulate the light intensity air flow etc to still get far superior buds then u can get so to all the stealth growers and people who worry just grow some it will be better then buying unknown flowers. Also Scotty did you guys see how many brands failed for pesticides recently like jungle boys stizy and 23 other large brands I can't believe it but ya some failed for over 20 pesticides (stizy being 1) and some of these are multi state operations be careful out there or simply grow ur own

PH seems to still be an unknown to me. Using promix hp mainly with a little coco and warm castings I dont know what the PH is in that to begin with. I use Advanced nutrients which claims to be PH balanced. Recently got a cheap 20$ Ph meter to check the soil but I see no consistant readings enough to know for sure where I stand in PH. Maybe Scotty you could explain some of that more in detail in another video.

Overwatering has always been a pain in my ass. I use to mistake it for deficiencies or toxicities but ive realized a plant with a bigger stalk will also drink more than one with a smaller stalk. Im in 3 gal fabric pots and i was using 2L of water and i realized it was too much so i cut that in half
@downsyndromehitler5697
@downsyndromehitler5697 12 күн бұрын
You could be wasting potential in 3 gal pots unless space is an issue. Ive tried most sizes from cannabonsai to 20 L and 12 L seems the optimum for maximum yields, anything bigger is a waste unless its outside.

@JulieHewes I give my plants water a little at a time and see what gets to the bottom of the planter. Pour in the water again and wait for the soil to absorb and do it again until the soil is losing almost what I'm pouring in. 🤘👽💨

if you are having trouble starting an account from the app, go on the website and start an account then you will be able to sign in to the app. If you don't have a computer to do so from, uninstall the app then you will be able to go on the webpage from your phone without it sending you to the app.

Using math to prevent over watering is the best practice imo. It's suggested to water between 5-10 percent of soil volume. So using Google to ask what 5-10 percent of your soil volume is it will let you know and you can even convert that to ounces to make sure that you are close as possible without going out of range

One of my biggest mistakes was to adjust PH-level of the water before adding the fancy ass fertilizer, instead of adjusting PH of the nutrient solution. Seems like plants don't like overfeeding at PH 3 ... 😂
