I own probably 5 Imogene + Willie shirts and love them. Couldn't recommend them higher. I agree they are washed and cropped to be like a vintage shirt, but I have no problem wearing them everyday.
@ama55732 жыл бұрын
I don't think heavy weight is something that is universally appreciated in t-shirts. I have heavy GSM t-shirts that I layer with in the winter, but in warmer climate summers you just can't wear those in the summer. In these climates lighter t-shirts and usually blends beat anything heavy. You want something to keep you cool, and also to dry out when it inevitably gets wet if you move around too much. In that sense, a lot of the heavy t-shirts that try to convince you they're worth the price because they're throwing a few cents more worth of material on the garment are not just "not better", they're unusable.
@DeepFriedDoom2 жыл бұрын
Yeah, this isn''t a comprehensive "best to worst" comparison in every situation, but one that suits Michael in his temperate environment. The reason he favors the thick shirts is because they suit his climate. If you're in the tropics or desert kind of environment, the tier list might actually go in reverse. Thick shirts will kill you with heat and moisture, and thinner shirts with synthetic blends will keep you cooler.

I'd like to provide a recommendation; if you're looking for the BEST men's cotton t-shirt, then without doubt for me it's Sunspel Classic T (the made in England version) for the price ($100). I've collected many T's, from the brands mentioned in this video as well as from expensive brands like Loro Piana, Zegna, brunello cucinelli etc., and by far Sunspel is the best at making T's from 100% cotton. So when it comes to T-shirts made from 100% cotton, Sunspel wins. However, if you're looking for T-shirts made from different materials like (70% cotton + 30% cashmere or Silk), then the expensive brands win because they have far superior mills / fabrics, but expect to pay $500-1000 for a t-shirt.

Good summary. I was a lady white co head before switching to 3sixteen. I think 3sixteen just does quite a bit better hanging onto its color and fit over time. Real test is always going to be in a white t-shirt. 3Sixteen’s thick white t-shirts dominate Lady White Co over time.

Heavyweight, dense cotton does not equal quality. I prefer a much finer, thinner T-shirt, but not that crappy, undershirt jersey material. Try a nice sea island cotton shirt. Sea Island cotton has a much longer, stronger staple, which allows for a much finer yarn to be spun. In turn, this can be woven into an extremely fine, gauzy, dry cotton that allows airflow, while also being extremely durable and had a beautiful drape and hand to it. Sunspel makes a couple sea island shirts around the same price point as those Japanese loopwheel ones. A little higher end than that RLPL, Brioni, Zegna and Kiton. Don't cheat yourself, instead treat yourself!
