Lol a lot of people I've seen are turned off by how unapologetically bizarre this book was but to me RTTP is FNAF using the interactive novel medium to the best effect. Some of these endings range from hilarious to unnervingly unhinged. Oswald in this seems to be a lot more of a little shit than I remember compared to his rather sweet game incarnation and relatively mild original novella self. Though in Oswald's defence he has us the players making potentially very bad life choices for him this go around with the pit.
@LadyLuckyLu4 күн бұрын
I heard A LOT people complain about Oz characterization in RTTP, personally I really like it. He's bratty sure, but it's understandable. Is his behavior justifiable? Not really, but we have do remember that he's a literal kid. The reason Oz is "likeable" in the game is because the game skipped all of his character arch. Your dad gets replaced early on, so Oz learns his lesson fairly quickly. In ITP and RTTP your dad gets replaced later in the story. After all, the ITP message is about "Be careful what you wish for."

12:32 i find it funny that the "ignore the call to Jeff's Pizza" option puts Oswald on the path of "ignore your Dad forever." Sort of deal. Thats a classic game dev of "what? You don't want to go on the adventure? Okay then. *You ignore everything else in your life oooooo*"

Yo Gibi, did you notice how when Oz got angry, and kept that anger. It seemed liked everything bad that could happen to him did? Seems like the book is pointing to either he notices the trouble in his life more when he's angry. Or anger/rage/bad emotions manifest as bad things happening. And directly so with his imagination going from normal mascots to what sounds like the twisted ones. Or eventually the normally useless light actually having a car that kills him and his dad.
@CottonArsonist4 күн бұрын
Considering the entire point of Fazbear Frights was to introduce the concept of emotions having wide-spread supernatural consequences The latter is the answer, just outright.

The Zero Point Field is a cool concept, and its effect in the books is a really cool idea to look into. Is William directly controlling Oswald? Is William just willing the characters into people memories? The FNAF 1 newspapers say that “‘…These characters will live on,’CEO.” Maybe he wants people to remember his creations idk. It just fun to play around with these ideas.

This is probably just me reaching for unconnected details but I do find it odd that both “The Week Before” and this book have what appear to be pretty big mistakes or errors. So is there a possibility that these errors and mistakes aren’t that and more glitches in the “game” we are playing? Or is their editing team that asleep at the wheel that the have missed pretty big problems some that are even contradictory? Either I find it interesting and wanted to point it out! But like I said probably reaching because the simplest solution is usually the correct one :)

I already read the book, I like it, the writing like always is great. I wouldn't mind the book being weird and bizarre if it's wasn't canon. You may say "But we don't know if it is." Since VIP and TWB seem to be in continuity with the games, that means this one has to be as well. The whole Pitvengers tangent turned my brain into faz-goo. And it kinda implies time travel too, which I don't like at all lmao. I heard A LOT people complain about Oz characterization in RTTP, personally I really like it. He's bratty sure, but it's understandable. Is his behavior justifiable? Not really, but we have do remember that he's a literal kid. In ITP and RTTP your dad gets replaced later in the story. The ITP message is about "Be careful what you wish for." Btw, the best "ending" is the one where you use the bunny ears, let's be real here 10/10.

Whilst weird given the stuff I've heard, I actually adore the book so far. Given Yellow Rabbit and the exaggerated 1985 seems to be an amalgamation of people's memories, emotions, etc all associated with Freddy Fazbear's Pizza in 1985. The motifs of 80s movies, slashers and Alice In Wonderland allow Yellow Rabbit to be portrayed as this otherworldly, dreamlike creature, blurring the line between conventional slasher and traditional supernatural entity.

My question with this is "why Into The Pit" why retell it all these different times. It's obviously an important story. Is the Yellow Thing the Mimic, (I would absolutely hate that, I hate that Mimic is a thing that exists) is it actually William (that can't be)? Is is showcasing possession? Is it because the story depicts a version of the MCI? Is it bridging the books and games?? Am I oblivious and missing something?
@HorrorHomestead4 күн бұрын
It's recognizable and iconic so it gets the money
@AbsolXGuardian3 күн бұрын
My theory is that the game into the pit was going to have weird time loop stuff, because there's a cut sequence with Old Man Consequences warning Oswald to avoid being trapped inside the pit forever. They cut that part when they extended the plot to being five nights long. So Scott took the idea and retooled it for the book
@woo.yeah.3 күн бұрын
into the pit is iconic and recognizable? strong disagree. i think if you rounded up 100 fnaf fans they would have only a vague awareness of the plot of into the pit. i think into the pit is a story scott is really, really, proud of of having created and that's why we've got three retellings of it

Okay so him reliving one of the Murders made me realize something. You know how the pit isn’t actually time traveling, but a sort of memory? I think when William (yes I think it’s William) replaces his father, the experience he is reliving is Michael’s, having a father who murdered people and would just come home and act like everything is normal. He terrorized his son at some points, but there was also real horror in how Michael knew his father was a monster but everyone pretended it was normal because there was no way to know what he knew. This could also be Dave’s, I suppose.

I’m not a huge fan of the field. It seems like a catch-all for any situation. Apply it to literally any piece of media with arbitrary decisions, and it can just become the solution. Also drawing things that you can’t really explain is a pretty common horror trope. I don’t know if it would be connected to the field.
@HorrorHomestead4 күн бұрын
(yes, a lot of fiction relies on characters just doing things because the author needs them to. That's kinda why I think it's so funny to point it out in all the Fazbear frights novels where the author DEFINITELY isn't meaning to imply the field exists, because I want to highlight how often writers rely on "...and he did ran faster because he really really wanted to!" Or "she had a gut feeling she shouldnt go in there" or my favorite "he didn't know why, but he found himself turning left.". I keep comparing it to the force because the force was just George Lucas taking this writing trope and making it a feature of his story.)

22:26 Theres another modernization change, Oz lists tiktok as a thing the 80s kids don't have. While this book has given me a coherent theory for what is actually going on with all the different versions (timeloop hell), it has also ruined my timeline for the Stitchline stories.
@at_witts_end34702 күн бұрын
Timeloop hell gets more obvious as the book goes on. :) It's probably the reason Andrew is missing. This is RETURN to the Pit. Meaning it's probably set after Andrew was released but Oswald's still in the loop.
@AbsolXGuardian2 күн бұрын
@@at_witts_end3470The problem with that is that Oz wouldn't come to know about tiktok or the fall of dvd rental while he's stuck in the pit. It's a big problem for me because The Real Jake, which takes place the same year as the Stingers, relies on online gaming not being super common and accessible amongst young kids for a portion of its plot. So I used that evidence to set the Stingers before Fnaf3 (with into the pit taking place right before the Stingers). But with the change in details seeming to me like Scott communicating that Into The Pit is supposed to be the early 2020s (and he just couldn't include those details when he first wrote the story because that's not how time works), I'm at a loss. Putting Into the Pit and the Stingers between Fnaf3 and fnaf6 would make The Real Jake weird. But putting Into The Pit after the Stingers raises the question of why didn't Jake protect Oswald from getting consumed by the pit, if he lives in it now.

That's the point of the story. Oz goes through a character arch and learns to not be bratty anymore. The moral of the story is literally "Be careful what you wish for." The ITP game skipped all of his character arch, that's why he seems more "likeable" there. Also, just because you don't like how a character is portrayed, that doesn't mean the writing is bad. The story is still captivating and immersive.
