I had so many memorable moments myself. I remember the last sector of the Alp map where the defensive team have that crazy strong base at the end. It was nuts because we were on the ground trying to push through the main wall of that base, but had constant machine gun fire around us with fighter biplanes overhead, but this tank came out of nowhere from our team and started to suppress the fire for us to jump the wall and take the main courtyard. We ran past him and his team for the building and the underground tunnels just to see the tank get blasted to pieces by the biplane's bombs. Just a crazy scenario to see and I have so many other moments like that such as storming the beaches, pushing with four other squads through the trenches of the green hilly map, or ambushing enemies in the forest map.

Battlefield 1 was the internet’s prayer. We were fed up with COD being futuristic, especially with Infinite Warfare releasing that same year. Part of the reason BF1 did do well tho was how badly IW did
@benforster37374 жыл бұрын
Doi Doi That was the reason I got BF1. I had bf3 and 4 but didn’t exactly play them a lot. After waiting forever for a good cod game I decided fuck it I’m buying battlefield. BF1 is one of if not my favourite game of all time. But this goes both ways as I assume a lot of battlefield players like me have switched to cod because of the disaster of BF5.

Ben Forster ya I agree warzone at to bad but the base game was one of the biggest waste of 60 bucks. The only good thing about the game was the campaign. I tried ground war and was the worst experience ever everybody camps on the roofs with one shoot snipers without bullet drop. then after a week I went back to battlefield
@benforster37374 жыл бұрын
Jerome Schlinger well I’m not gonna lie and say that I didn’t feel the same way at some point. I did the least ideal action and decided to try to adapt the way I play. I don’t know if there are still campers on roofs as much anymore because I have played the maps enough that I know how to avoid them anyways. However even in ground war you don’t get the same feeling of all out war than in battlefield. The environment in battlefield 1 is unbeatable and ground war is most definitely cod just on a bigger map. Battlefield has an amazing talent of making you feel like your in a movie. However ground war doesn’t capture that same feeling however personally I find it fun anyways.

in the war stories, i didn't need a bunch of time to grow with the characters. i was able to tell the devastation, the hurt, the anguish, just by the atmosphere and character portrayal. the war stories show the brutality and unforgiving nature of war, such as the desperate hope of the tank captain in Through Mud and Blood as he blows the lines of Bess, or the anger of Clyde Blackburn as he struggles with indecision in No Mans Land. i found myself almost tearing up in The Runner when Bishop meets his end. hes happy to pass the torch, accepting of his successor and his fate. he knows its the end, yet he still smiles in the face of certain death because he knows he did what he could. battlefield one had, what is in my opinion, the best take of singleplayer campaign in any battlefield game. not because of gameplay or story, but because of the themes, the emotions, the characters, the quotes, and so much more. not to mention one of the greatest opening scenes in gaming history. i know this is a wall of text, but i mean it when i say that battlefield one is that game that you can go back and say, "yeah, i remember that. i played that."

"20 Million men participated in fighting the 'War to End All Wars'. It ended nothing." That quote honestly stings the most to me, mostly because of how harshly and coldly true it is (as it pertains to wars on the same scale and danger as WW1). I mean, WW2 happened right after and the extended Cold War with proxy wars in between happening after WW2... The first World War was a war of pointlessness and Sunk-Cost Fallacy, and kind of showed how everyone involved were in some way failing to learn from the past. EDIT: Some guy pointed out that I got the quote wrong and I double checked; they were right. So I changed it.

@youknowwhoelsecantthinkofagood Жыл бұрын
Exactly. I don’t think enough people understand that if this game were realistic, it would literally just be one side camping the whole time with mostly scout class weapons while the other just get their asses beat. Maybe after a few hours, or days, or weeks the the roles would switch up. There’d be basically little to no vehicles (especially if you were on the Central Powers’ side). And the ones you do have would probably die of engine failure in the middle of no man’s land. And, if it were realistic, the majority of the gameplay wouldn’t be spent fighting. You’d get to repair trenches, hide in dugouts for several hours at a time from artillery barrages or spend several hours loading artillery, be on guard duty, execute dying horses, spend several hours stealing food from nearby towns because your rations haven’t arrived yet, and best of all, maintaining the local latrines!

Bf4 isn’t accurate. Bf4 had the MOST customization, not the best. That’s not a good thing, considering there were many attachments that all functioned the same, but just looked different. Just put the best looking attachments with each weapon and cut out all the junk. It also heavily relied upon lootboxes instead of a progression system for the customizables, so that’s a negative. BF3 or bad company 1/2 could also hold the gameplay title as well.

I always imagined the way War Stories should have gone was it took you through every point in WWI, starting from the assassination of Franz Ferdinand as Gavrilo Princip, you follow it through the perspectives of every major player in it in chronological order, and I even wanted a chapter where you played as a German delivering a message through no man's land, and at the end, he is awarded the Iron Cross, revealing we were playing as Adolf Hitler. Let us see every side of the war, and how it influenced the tragedies that occurred two decades later.

Biggest problem with most campaigns. You don't get anything from the other side. Theres a great movie called Stalingrad and its from the German perspective and its damn near the ONLY movie about that war that reminds you that they were humans with fears and hopes as well as lot of propoganda. As the battle turns against the Germans the enlisted stop listening to the officers who they realize will sacrifice them all. There was evil on both sides the Nazis were just more enthusiastic about turning that evil into a whole industrial process.

I think they missed an opportunity in the campaign to use the old "perma-death" mechanic where you become a different soldier when you die. They did it the first mission, but after that it feels a lot like a power fantasy campaign that's trying to remind you that a lot of people died in this war while you gun down thousands. Obviously you need a balance here, but I think the "perma-death" would have done so much better.

They wanted to focus on iduvidual soldiers and make the player actually care about dying. If they had multiple soldiers the story wouldn't be as impactful as you could end up only having a few seconds with each guy and not truly care about them or what their fighting for. Also having multiple soldiers would make the game realy boring as their would be no diffuculty. (Assuming that what you meant is swapping between soldiers while making progress with each ones life)

@@vmann8168 You can make them care about each soldier much like they did in the intro, where once you die it tells you their names and birth and death dates, or even save it until the end, where the end of each story shows you a memorial of every soldier you died as. Difficulty would absolutely still be there, as you only have so many soldiers. They could also make it so you die easily, so instead the difficutly comes in how you approach the battle, stuff like that. Also I think many might disagree with this last point, but I think you could still have "individual" characters by having them be unplayable. You follow their story as the soldiers around them.

Addressing your criticism that Avanti Savoia makes you feel too powerful, I thought it was implied that this is showing another side of lying in war stories. Friends in High Places showed the side of people who lie to protect themselves from seeming like a bad person, while in Avanti Savoia, it felt like the person telling the story was lying to his daughter about being in "Impenetrable armor", making himself sound powerful and invulnerable not to make himself look good, but to try and make the story less scarring to his daughter. He didn't want her to know how vulnerable he really was during that time, that at any moment, it could have been him that died, while his brother lived. That's at least what I took from it.

As someone who is more on the "historical accuracy" side of games, I can say without a doubt that Battlefield 1 did an incredible job. Hell, they were even able to be diverse without pandering to anybody! The 1st Russian Women's Battalion of Death, the Harlem Hellfighters, people from French-occupied northwestern Africa, the list goes on. What sets this game's inclusivity of a variety of people and groups from other games is that it does so when it has a reason to and is still accurate to the time and setting. That's one of the main reasons why Battlefield V pissed me off so much. Instead of a British woman with a prosthetic arm wielding a cricket bat in WW2, why not include Lyudmila Pavlichenko, aka Lady Death, a female Russian sniper who had 309 confirmed kills? What about the French women who fought? They were in extremely small numbers, but they were a thing. Historically accurate inclusion is fucking awesome, and I love when games do it. But inclusivity for its own sake is terrible and cheapens said character's presence in the game's setting.
@AeneasGemini4 жыл бұрын
I think the main issue with Battlefield 5 is that the character stole the achievements of real heroes, the mission she takes part in was a real one that involved real men who sacrificed significantly to make it happen. Laziness, EA, developers foolishly believing that everyone wants it to be woke. BF5 was doomed since the reveal trailer. Now I don’t mind women in a World War 2 game... but it has to make sense. Otherwise people are going to start treating the setting with a toxic 2019 mentality that completely destroys the immersion of the whole setting of WWII. People need to understand that once you put in ideals, themes, values, and progressive content from the 21st century into a historical set game, you completely destroy the purpose of it being a historical experience.

Glo Ray59, I’m assuming you mean in-game and in real life there are no pump-action rifles. However, the “Varmint-rifle” in Red Dead Redemption 2, I think is modeled after a real pump-action rifle that is meant to shoot 22. caliber rounds. And the game takes place before WWI, and WWI is the setting of Battlefield 1.

I think that if you like ww1 and you are searching for a game that try to be as much realistic as possible, you should at least try it ;) try to search for some gameplays on Youtbe

The Harlem hellfighters were ultra-chads who, once arriving home, were loved by the American public, no matter the race. They were cheered for and celebrated. Their government didn’t give two shits about them, but for once in their lives, the felt equality. Unlike vanguard’s stereotype ridden black characters. A lot of the tokenism is so awful that I’ve seen everybody from conservatives to anarchists shit on the fake diversity.
