I have this plugin and honestly, I just couldn't get into it. I know it's based on a well regarded piece of hardware but I just couldn't get the right flow with it. I appreciate the conversation near the end about plugins that look like old hardware. I started my recording/mixing journey back in 1998 and at the time, a lot of the plugins were digital. In recent years, I have forced myself to use analog GUIs so I wouldn't rely on the digital readouts (especially on EQ) so I would use my ears. Now I can go back to a digital EQ knowing what to listen out for. I sometimes even disable the frequency display on Q3 just so I would continue to use my ears. Same thing with compressors. I know what to listen for and what settings to make. The 90's digital compressors had all of these meters bouncing and I was setting them with my eyes. Thanks mates!

Great video - Thank you for finally reviewing this - and Happy New Year to you both. I paid £15 for this in a PA sale, and I use it exactly as Sean says. For me, ToneBoosters or ProQ4 (or equivalent) to fix issues - TOMO LISA, Elysia Museq (99% in M/S), Pulsar 8200 etc... for getting to the heart of the music - which I believe is what mastering is all about. Any muppet can get levels flat and loud. Anyway, if this video is how you start 2025, then it's going to be a great year. Top stuff!

I've been using it for the last year or so. Takes a bit of getting used to, but for what it cost, its quite handy. Having said that, I dont really know how to use it really properly yet....

The TOMO LISA hardware costs 14.280€. I'll stay with the TDR (Tokyo dawn labs) "NOVA" dynamic parallel EQ. It's really great and can do a lot of things (including Auto EQ). It can even function as a smooth broadband compressor.
@OCTO8R4 күн бұрын
It IS actually 6-band compressor, 4 of which can operate like an expander either, and can be smooth and broadband. PA regularly have discounts. Like now, as an instance, you can grab LISA for $19.99 with their coupon. It's all - IMHO. I don't insist. If you took YOUR tool it's amazing anyway. 🙂

I suppose with a plugin like this, emulating the functionality of a hardware original with certain limitations in flexibility is that the functionality is curated by professionals.

It's actually $19.99 now and will be during next 58 hours so an argument about the price just doesn't work as always in case of Plugin Alliance and their regular discounts. 🥳 AT LAST you made a review! And you liked it, heheheee 🙂 It's go-to EQ for master bus and sounds really good! 👍🏻

Can someone make something that sounds truly analogue but give us an interface like fab filter or something? Add a long devices work great cuz you're actually grabbing buttons.... Usually more than one at a time. Plugins with this kind of interface and not many knobs are dreadful to work with! Like a legitimately sucks from a workflow standpoint compared to modern UI possibilities

SOMA is static. I was looking at it too while choosing what to grab about a yeaar ago but LISA can be both dynamic and static, it has 6 bands unlike 4 in SOMA, comp/exp modes... can even be a sort of deesser if you can handle. Anyway... your choice is always your best one! 💜

Kind of like a Pultec EQ. It's very limited, but it does what it says on the tin and looks to be faster than trying to recreate the set-up in a more advanced plug-in. The "sale" price is more than reasonable.
