One thing most people overlook is that while young Screech was terrorizing the streets, Jenny was walking them. What is a 14 year old in high heels and rosy cheeks doing late at night on streets that she has walked 1000 times before? This opens up conversation about the foster care system, as well. This song says so much without expressly saying it. It is masterfully written.

@@johngalasso8074 In the song itself? It's not whatsoever. However it is very much implied in some instagram stuff that Ren did promoting it (if I remember correctly it was done as if Ren had had his phone stolen and the thief - in this case Screech - was uploading videos from it).

His Money Game is another great 3 parter. He also has major rapping skills ...The Hunger, Animal Flow, Seven Sins, Sick Boi (Which is the title of his new hip hop album that went to #1 in the UK). Also he was in a wonderful band called The Big Push who made a name for themselves busking in Brighton...I Shot the Sheriff, War Pigs, Englishmen In New York. Ren has been making music for years, most of which is on his channel, every song he makes is outstanding in it's own right, now he is starting to gain success which has long been overdue. There is an enormous catalogue of his music available online spanning his entire career both as a single artist, collaborator and band member covering all types of music.

The tragedy and horror of generational violence in a live performance, outside with a camera man ,that’s it. Locations chosen by acoustics and availability. He has a wide range of music and has been performing since he was a teenager, now 33 years old. As he has said performing and playing are skills you work at. Ren has supported himself by busking on the streets but his time has come. There are some great performances with his bandmates from the Big Push a band that broke up in late 2022. He has done some great duets with various musicians. Lots of people will tell you about his horrific health issues that sidelined his career, but enjoy his musical journey it’s a gas ☮️

Since finding Ren back in March that is all I listen to so was pumped when I saw you were doing Hi Ren. Then so let down that you weren’t able to watch the entire video as the ending, according to Ren, is the part he is most proud of and needed to get the full effect. All of REN’s music is genius! On top of that he is a super selfless guy and just the best, really. He has quiet the back story dealing with undiagnosed Lyme disease and is still currently getting treatment for autoimmune problems. I’m sure some other Renagades will comment more details. Actually Ren calls his style "Bardcore" but he does so many different genres. From folk storytelling like this video, to rap and reggae. He plays guitar, piano and bass also. He actually is mainly a singer, and story teller but he loves rap so he just released a rap album he put out himself, totally independent, and he got the number one spot in the UK beating out Rick Astley. All this while he's been in Canada for almost a year getting treatment for Lyme disease that ravaged his body for almost a decade because he was misdiagnosed. They told him he was bipolar, was making it up, everything other than Lyme disease so he's on Canada getting this treatment that will help with the nerve damage, neurological damage, brain damage and hopefully will let him eat more than the 5 or 6 foods he can eat that don't make him horribly sick. So while sick he got a frigging number one album and he's very interactive with reactors and loves them because if it wasn't for ya'll spreading his music he wouldn't have the number one album and he past a million followers on KZbin not thst long ago either! His newest video, "The Money Game Part 3" is another 9 minutes of AMAZING storytelling! He's amazing and continue down his rabbit hole, you won't be disappointed!

I have watched this song maybe 60 times now... This is the first time I noticed on part 2 Ren starts the song saying, "The story it starts, right at the end". At the end of the song Ren says, "The story it ends right at the start". He ALWAYS brings the stories full circle... (like MG3) talking in code for the Renagades so no spoilers! Ren is a stylebender! There is NO genre he cannot do! He can sing, rap, act, beatbox, produce, make his own beats, play piano, drums, guitar, base, he can write (both musically and spoken word at Shakespearian levels) and MORE! He is a one man band! Edit:19:19 You agree lol... I said wrote my comment before you said Shakespeare. Jenny was like her mother and froze in fear which enraged Screech even more. Who was just like his father. With Ren... My favourite movie actors are the ones you wouldn't even recognise because they become the characters perfectly. Gary Oldman comes to mind, and Joachim Pheonix. They are such great actors that the person they are dissolved into the character they play, similar to what you are saying about Ren here. Love it

Awesome reaction! I could tell how much you didn't want to hear that they were twins, you were wanting to hit that pause button 😂 I'll be here for any more Ren reactions you have! Side note, when she was talking about the empty streets it made me realize just how eerie the setting was, like walking through a ghost town. And I've watched these 100's of times and that's never occured to me, so thank you!

If you really break this story down... you have even more questions. Was Patrick not home because he was busy with Screech's girl? Then Jenny's father never left her room? Was she moved out because she was already pregnant when she met Stevie? Is that why he thinks she is nothing but a slut? Are Jenny and Screech not only Violet's children, but her fathers children as well? Is Jenny walking the street in high heels... because she is literally a street walker? Ren indicates this story was based partially on a story he read in the news papers... where a young street walker was killed by a teen. He ends both Jenny and Screech's story saying it is such a shame because that is how the story ended in the paper... the police saying it was such a shame... great reaction. The Ren rabbit hole is deep...

I’m going to push back on the “slut” as an insult having a deeper meaning. That is the vocabulary of an abuser. Slut/whore is a go-to for them. When I stopped my neighbor from beating his dog he called me a slut. I was 11 yo. My mom was abused for 30 years - accusations of promiscuity were rampant. Even accused her of sleeping with my husband - her son in law. So yeah. Violet’s tale is horrifying enough without the incest baby shit or even a hint of victim blaming (“well she was pregnant so…”) Just wanted to clarify. :)

Ren is an absolute beast of a human being. You really can't go wrong with anything he releases. I just had a 6 hour road trip to Utah and am driving back to Idhao tomorrow. I spent the bulk of that 6 hours listening to his entire discography. I highly recommend listening to Losing It or Love Music 1, 2, and 3 if you're looking for up beat fun songs. He has a lot of serious songs but he has a lot of fun songs as well. You just need to know what to look for. My personal favorites are Freckled Angels (Written for his late friend Joe Hughes, react to both the live and studio versions if you choose this one), and Fire. He chose to release Sick Boi at $5/album to make sure everyone could afford it. He also goes out of his way to remove any copyright claims on reactions. Don't sleep on Ren. He'll change your life.

I love that you said Ren should have a movie. He hopes to do a Netflix series of dark musical storytelling similar to these tales. This is proof of concept.

I feel like he is doing to music what Quentin Tarantino did to film when he first came on the scene. He makes it so raw and visceral, but you can't stop listening and watching. Even as you struggle to process it. Brilliant.

Hi REN was recently nominated for an award at a prestigious film festival in Europe for Music video and cinematography. They didn’t win, but considering the fact that they made the video with whatever they could find on a barebones budget and were COMPLETELY independent and unknown… impressive.

More Ren please. I love watching thoughtful reactors discover the depth of Ren's talent. The tales actually came out a few years ago, Ren just isn't on the radio. He's independent and he has to work/play/pay for everything but he gets to make the story the way he wants instead of having it cleaned up for the mainstream. There's a whole history about Ren's health and when/how his music came out... I won't go into it but it's as compelling a story as these Tales.

That twist hits everyone. Ren is such an immersive story teller, we start watching a video literally titled "Tale of Jenny and Screech" and by the time we get to Violet's tale, we are so hooked into Ren, we don't realize yes, this is STILL the tale of Jenny and Screech... we just don't realize how yet. Then the end hits you like a truck that you see coming at the last second, but can't do a thing about. You just see the end of the story coming, and know it's gonna hurt.

Ren and his videographer/director friend Sam want to make more musical storytelling videos like this with other artists in a series on Netflix. They want to use videos like this to build their resume up to show Netflix what they can offer. I am all in on the idea of a musical Black Mirror series created by Ren.

Really nice reaction, you guys followed the story well, reacting to each element that others often miss or don't respond to, and the penny dropped at the end quickly, not everyone gets it, they are mesmerized by the performance and bopping to the music, but miss the story. Well done. Ren is not new, his dad gave him a small beaten up guitar from a flea market when he was 8 and he carried it around everywhere he went, by 13 he spent most of his time learning guitar by slowing down KZbin videos, and practicing piano. He only had one job at age 16 at a coop and he was fired for throwing sprouts at a coworker, he began busking on the streets of Brighton where he picked up some money and that made him think he could do it for a living. He was in school for music, had a busking band, and got a contract with Sony, but soon after his undiagnosed Lyme Disease was disabling and he went back to live with his mom in Wales where he spent most of his time in pain in bed with little energy to do anything. Sony agreed to let him out of his contract, he was 19. When he was feeling up to it he wrote volumes of lyrics and worked on his guitar. He says his hard drives must have 1000 songs on them. Part of his misdiagnosis (see 'Sick Boi') was bipolar and ME/CFS, he was put on many drugs including Diazepam (see the video by that name), that made him hallucinate and was in part with the Lyme infection cause of psychosis and a sense of derealization from the drug he hoped would help (see 'Chalk Outlines'). He was certain he wouldn't live to 30 and at times was thinking of giving up (see 'Suicide'), but maybe his experience with his childhood friend kept that at bay (see 'For Joe'), in trying to find answers when the doctors were making things worse, he got some information from an ME support group that suggested his mental health problems could be due to an infection. He went to a gastroenterologist with his mom and pretended to have a stomach bug that he said antibiotics worked before, he took them and his mental health improved. With that as a clue he got money together to go to an Infectious Disease doctor in Belgium who just reviewing history told him he thought he had Lyme Disease even before the test result came in, and they did show that. This gave Ren hope that he had a path, he began his road of treatment, and about age 25 he was making music again, you can find many old videos of busking on the street, a few collaborations, search under 'The Big Push,' he independently released his first album 'Freckled Angels.' Some people see 'The Tales' and think they are recent, or the 3 parts of 'Money Game' and not that they go back 3 or 4 years, and that his back catalog is so big. It is a tale of 'overnight success.' He is obsessive and rehearses endlessly and in filming does take after take, for 'Money Game Part 1' there were issues so they went all night with about 180 takes, for 'The Tales' it was done about 50 times, they used the 2nd but he just wants insurance they got a good one take. They had one with rain showers at a very special moment but in review it wasn't as good, but in the used version the plane flying over stirring up the seagulls right when 'Stevie' pauses to see what he did to Violet was just as special. These videos were actually made a year apart. The basis of the idea came from a newspaper article about two youths who lost their lives, first a young prostitute in Paddington who was killed during a mugging, then the young offender who killed her shot dead by responding officer. There is a line that was a quote from the article where the commanding officer said 'they were so young, it's such a shame.' So Ren uses it, 'It's such a shame.' Originally it was just the two videos, but the third part was created to bring them back together as a way to understand the origins of the characters, the generational abuse, neglect, and trauma they led to their lives, a repeat of their parents, and the resulting continuing tragedy. For 'Hi Ren' in typical guerilla filming fashion they used a found space, but the landlord came down and told them to leave, they begged for another 30 minutes and he relented, but they only got 4 takes, Ren thought it was a disaster, he was going off to Canada the next week for treatment and he thought they blew it, but a friend watched it and told him this is going to change your life, your career. But Ren was still surprised at how it took off while he was in Canada, the ballooning views, the reaction video phenomena, and so now he's the 'new guy' the 'overnight success.'

He's been making and reasing music since he was 12. It's only in the last 6 years that he's been healthy enough to return to it. He was horrifically ill, bedridden and in constant, nonstop, unrelenting, excruciating chronic pain, for over 7 years. He's still incredibly ill and in near constant pain, now. He's spent almost the entirety of 2023 in a clinic in Canada, undergoing experimental medical treatments, in an attempt to repair some of the damage to his body and brain. He'll be there for another 4 or 5 months yet., as the most heavy and intensive stage of the treatments begin. He's going to be unable to do anything much in this time. He'll be effectively incapacitated. It's why it was set to begin a few weeks after the release of his album, so he could concentrate on that, albeit away from home. He's also been able to celebrate it's success! It entered the UK album chart at number one! Beating the likes of Rick Astley, Troye Sivan, Ed Sheeran and Pink Floyd and it knocked Drake off the top spot! Totally unexpected, by anybody. Most radio DJs had never heard of this Ren person, yet here he was, sitting on top of the charts! An incredible feat for a fully independent artist! Never happened before. No label, no financial backing, no PR machine, no management. Every label under the Sun has tried to sign Ren but he turned them all down! Just his talent and charisma! He couldn't even promote the record and he hasn't been able to tour for the last 13+ years, due to his health. Yet he reached number one! He also went top 10 in dozens of other countries! :)
