This bike is no joke. I have an 06.. I’m an experienced 600 rider, and I’m still adjusting to it and it’s only been a couple months. Proceed with caution!

I've got a K6, bought it new and assembled it from the crate myself. Still looks like new after 40k of riding. Opinions may vary but it's one of the best bikes I've ever owned.

That gsxr stigma (squid) has been around for 25 years. It's amazing how far it's made it. I've owned a 96 gsxr 750, 02 600 and now I've had my 05 gsxr 1000 for a while. I've never been a squid. I'm a responsible rider. It's incredible how long the stigma has remained the same

I have one of these bikes and I'm keeping it forever. The low down grunt and mid-range grunt make is such a good road bike. It's also light and steers brilliantly. The engines last forever too. Get the suspension serviced and keep on top of the cleaning and you're good!

It's been said before but for the benefit of the uneducated let me tell state this, you simply will not find this bikes limits on the road. I had one for 3 years and NOTHING up to date ever came past me. Small but comfortable ,taught but forgiving, docile as you want but monstrous power everywhere should the mood take you. The midrange he talks about so much makes it an absolute joy to live with just twist and go the thing just will not bog down in ANY gear. I've been on most of the current superbikes and yes they are truly amazing however that doesn't take away from the fact that Suzuki broke the mould when they unleashed this baby.

You wont even find a 600cc bikes limits on the road. The only thing I will disagree with you on is: this is known as the LEAST forgiving 1000cc, but there really isnt such a thing as a "forgiving" 1000cc literbike.

I've had 3 of them! 1x K5 and 2x K6 of which I still have one and its the best bike I've ever had! I have ridden all the current sports bikes available and even though they are brand spanking new with features the K5/6 doesn't have, the K5/6 just feels so good that I simply cannot justify spending the money on a new bike that just wouldn't give me a better feeling when riding. And YES they have insane mid range! So much usable drive and I will say it.. feels better than a big bang R1 for torque! Yep I said it! I'd love to find a low mileage example to keep on display in my house! The K6 I have gets ridden not hidden!

Ive owned a 2006 K6 GSXR 1000 for the past 4 years. Got an Ohlins shock /fork springs and valves, a Racefit slip on and exhaust valve delete and a power commander. Its a total beast and Ill never sell it. Ive ridden all sorts of 1000cc bikes and for me, nothing comes close for pure, viceral, full power sports bike, and that includes the BMW S1000RR (which incedently was based on the K5/K6.)

I had the Y/B K5 and always thought the bike was unreal fast. I honestly expected being 10 years later it would have been outdone, but your opinion doesn't surprise me. That bike was just nuts.
@eddiebones20 Жыл бұрын
Just got mine back from the shop after full service, new tires, brake lines. It had been gathering dust for years and it was time to show it some love. Forgot how much of a beast this bike is. Really it's like learning to ride all over again after coming off my HD, 690 SMCR and a slew of dirt bikes. Mad respect for this bike. My 06 is a decent example of the era in Blue/White scheme with 4200 miles and no engine mods other than a Yoshi Carbon slip-on.

Nothing to brag on by it not being over 80mph. If that's the case then the bike has never been broken-in and given the mileage the engine may never reach its full potential. These bikes are built to be ridden and have a strong high rev motor so the power is their why not use it some?

James Marshall Yeh I've noticed that amongst 'pre-modern' super sport owners. Most of the fuckwit crowd have either crashed theirs, died, or given up riding. Lot's of bomb ones around like the 04-07 1000RR's but still, incredibly fast.

When we got back from the 5 mile trip she said everyone was going so slow. I had the truck floored most the time trying keep up. Have the 750 K8. Gixxers are very comfortable to ride. rode mine 10000km (6200miles) last year without and real problem with my back/general seating position. (riding from Mars to October/November due to winter). (aprox 1250km/775miles per month) But this video really really makes me want a 1000 gixxer k5-k6. On the fact about what i think you should pick in the K-series. Go K4-K7(K6for1000). The K7(1000)K8-L0(some say K10) have the powermode buttons, but you won't use anything else then full power. If i would pick a bike today i would not get the K8 again. i rather save my money and go for a K6-K7 (or K5 for 1000cc). I will however not change my bike, i love it, But i would really think again if you pick the bike just because the cool feature "power modes", it's not worth the extra money, you'd be fine with the model without, feels the same to sit on etc.

i liked that video a lot. i'm coming from an sv1000s. i like my bike a lot, but im kinda tired of the v2 sound and rough riding style caused by the v2. i want to get a sportbike, but i set myself a ps limit to around 160ps, cause i think more would be way to much (upkeep costs and i like my life, its hard enough to drive resonable with 130ps...). i have looked around and really like the k5 gixxer but also the r1's around 04-06. would you say the k5 is a bit to much for me? or the r1's? because its really tough to find sportbikes with a newer construction year than my 03er sv with not complete insane power and ps numbers regards from germany

coming from an sv650 I totally share your toughts. No, the 1000 k5 is not too much for you, providing you keep yourself rational about how you use it.
