Tbh I completely agree, however I do admit that the map changes gaijin is introducing are not great for most light tanks so I get why new players are disliking them. There simply not made for head on engagements something that new and changed maps try to force you into.

I love the mk10's gun to bits, its got absurd firepower for a 9.0 tank thatll hold its own even in a full uptier unfortunately almost nothing else does, and you get a LOT of uptiers (in my experience) speed: bad at its br, bad below its br. Similarly it lacks torque & struggles to accelerate or climb at any reasonable rate armour: mixed bag. Turret armour is generally good at br. Drops off hard in an uptier over 9.7 even at range in my experience. Hull armour is just tragic however & if you get a bad streak of flat & small maps your survivability basically goes out the window , not aided by the vertical ammuntion charges directly behind the lower front plate & the occasional issue of the solid sabot rounds in the front of the hull miraculously detonating when hit (?????) the main problem is that the tank was designed for a situation entirely different to war thunder. There's training footage out there where they say the chieftain's typical combat range is about 1.5 miles, not the 300 metres you often end up at in game

Tbh it depends on the gun and the shell, for example the APCBC shell for the 17pdr is AMAZING, while the 75mm stock AP is absolute ass. APDS on British tanks is also a different mess. 84mm APDS CAN be good in some situations, but after the nerfs you're better off with the stock APCBC and only use the APDS to kill heavy targets. Britain isn't the best nation, and solid shot is very inconsistent, but it's nowhere near as bad as everyone makes it up to be. The Comet 1, TOG II, and rest of the 5.3 British tanks are so unbelievably fun to play

I think most of solid shot's reputation comes from the fact APHE is absolutely ridiculous in game & can award kills from even the most barely even penned shots. the 17 pounder is by far my favourite gun in the game as its sheer penetrating power means it actually benefits from heavy tanks as their thick plates result in a lot of spalling & often centre of mass shots kill anyway. Early sabot is not great in my opinion & frequently direct hits to ammo using the 76mm APDS do basically nothing because the enemy's rounds are wider than the sabot itself

Rooikat really is the sexiest armored car of all time, Every statistic about it is just great. I'd think the dudes complaining about the post-pen just bought the premium Rooikat and don't play UK but then that's literally the one with good post-pen. Rooikat slander will not be allowed in this household, hate on the Ratels instead. ATGMS at 6.7 can't save driving equivalent of CBT.

I ADORE the Aubl HVG, genuinely one of my favorite light tanks. I just love the little hardened spaghetti launcher on it at 8.0, it's a lot of fun to zip around the map and pick people off with the tiny railgun. I understand why people would say its bad, but its fun :3

Scout vehicles are peak fun in War Thunder. Your role is to be the biggest bastard on server and spot people for free xp and sometimes style on someone. I got so many kills with AB43 while doing barrel rolls. Fun times.

another underrated one is the churchill mk.7, ik i've only played mobile wt, but the churchill 7 is just absolute perfection, it has so much armor that its pretty much invulnerable to US 76 and sometimes can even bounce an 88, while it has a pretty decent gun, the 75mm doesnt have much pen but it does exelent post pen for being a solid shot, and reloads very quickly. so if you just angle with it youre basically an invulnerable moving bunker with a loader that can give modern autoloaders a run for thier money, and a below average but very much usable round

One of the many many reasons people consider abrams and prob Kpz is this dumb thing no one talks about where people come up to a russian MBT like a T72, and instead of shooting its driver port or breach they shoot JUST the track then complain that the ERA stopped their shell and that its insanely OP. If I get glitched by the game and forced into bringing my 5.7 lineup with my Strv 74 and DT and managed to kill not one but TWO T80s (one with each) frontally, thats not an issue with abrams or kpz's guns.

Honestly the I think the reason people hate the Kpz-70 is because half of the people that play it just use the rockets instead of the apfsds cause they just look at the stats of the dart and they think they won't do shit with it. Honestly, even if you had the leo 1A's penetration, most of the time you would still shoot at the same weakspots. I personally never had any consistency issues with that round either. You just need to be more careful with your aiming and for that you get better speed, reload, a coax and a suspension compared to the leo1A

Another tank that people like to hate on ist the Strv 74. It is technically a "light tank" but you really should be playing it more like a medium tank. It also has a nuke APHE round and a high penning APDS. I absolutely love this tank and i even got a nuke with only the APHE round in a 6.7 uptier. And i wouldn't say i'm that good of a player.

In my opinion if the tank has speed and at least mid gun, it can be good/great, the reason why i think the Rooikat Mk1.D is bad isnt because its bad, but because i had lineup of 8.3 and now its 8.7, otherwise its good vehicle that can be annoying with the damage of apfsds mising the gunner by 1mm and leting him live, also british tech tree is also pretty good, but i would say its not the best.
