The failings flats are all empty and boarded up because they are being demolished. Poor old dogdale ( as the locals call it) it’s had a good kicking over the years. I remember it in the 1970’s, it was a good, salt of the earth northern town. Always a bit rough and ready, but nowhere near as bad as it is now. Mass immigration into the town caused severe overcrowding, still does. Most decent folk have or are leaving the place, too much drugs and no affordable housing. ✌🏻

Have you ever lived in a tower block?
@mirandamcmanus20972 ай бұрын
Tower blocks are good size home's with under ground garages. In days gone by when you was on a council list you lived in tower block or maisonette. For so many years and then if you wanted a house went on a house list. When a house came avaliable in the area you chose they'd offer you a house.better organised councils and it would work. Friends who stayed in there flat's were forced to move the council's selling them off. In preston lancashire it's happening now at the moment in avanham Manchester road. Some have taken the payoff. Some don't want to move it's been there home for over 40yrs. In the same area kendel house, 2 blocks, said there was dangerous and need pulling down think early 90s. Sold off and still there. Now called Sandown court. Private investors can see the potential in them not many city centre houseing have good parking. Councils have no passion anymore.

Can't understand why you didn't document the refurbished part of Lower Falinge, instead of continually focusing on just two empty blocks (Newstead and Zedburg). You didn't report on the blocks currently under modernisation or the newly built houses and apartment blocks on Falinge, nor the Childrens new play park and kick pitch . You focused a lot on the shopping precinct which by the time you'd arrived had mostly closed for business for the day because it was late. And as for your one-legged mate, he regularly asks passers-by for loose change, despite him claiming the highest rate living and mobility components of PIP and Universal Credit totalling £1,130.65 per month. Maybe you should re-visit Lower Falinge and speak to some of the longstanding (pardon the pun) residents who'll gladly show you what's being done to improve the neighbourhood, and how they're taking control and working with the landlord and council to shape the estate's future. Go visit Newbold and Freehold as some have suggested in the comments, and then compare them to Falinge. You'll be surprised at what you see. By the way, the grooming gangs you refer to in the video's title were not based on the Falinge Estate, but elsewhere in the town.
