In other census related news. My Grandma sent an update email to my sister in New Zealand, but my sister never received it. Turns out my Grandma had somehow managed to send it to the census email address. The thought of someone at the census reading about my Grandparent’s marmalade making adventures has tickled me all week. 😂

I think you should leave the door to the little room next to your guest bedroom Anna. It looks perfect for a babies room if you slept in the cosy guest room. Easy access to a tiny person for the nightime feeds, but the distance you want after the first few weeks. Sharing a room is brilliant at first because you want the reassurance of hearing them breathing, but after a while they sleep more deeply (and so do you!) when they're in their own room. Nothing worse than waking a slumbering baby when you bump into furniture in the dark crreping into your room at bedtime.

Maybe you could buy a mattress topper? You know those things that are basically super thick mattress protectors. For while you're using it and for future guests to make it more comfy. Also keep the door, could work out well in the future and it doesn't really detract to much by being there. Install a bookcase/shelve things on either side (or just the office side and a lock) if possible so it's more space efficient.

Re the pigment bit...Since I'm covered in years of sun damage *eye roll*, can def recommend Victoria Health's Alpha Arbutin + Kojic Acid (I use every evening) with morning routine of a Vitamin C and then niacinamide/azelaic combo (watch %s) before spf. Doing a very good job of dimming down both melasma and sun spots, yay. But I did use the AoS Mandelic in that routine as it's the only sucker I could find to get deep enough to start shifting things, so will repurchase. It's quite the journey!!

Without knowing other details of that top floor, I would convert the ‘storage’ room into a guest bathroom (assuming there’s no bathroom on that top floor). So no I wouldn’t close off that door into a wall just yet. You may also decide, one day in the far future, to move your master bedroom with ensuite into that top floor. Lots of light with the lovely new windows. The storage room seems small for a proper bedroom. It could be a study but I like the ensuite bathroom option. Just my thoughts. Lovely space and home ❤️ I am jealous that you an see sheep in the distance.

I think you have to think about what you would want to use that room as in the future. In our childhood home, we used to have a similar design with doors but it was connecting the living to the kitchen so fun for kids to play around with. I personally wouldn't keep the extra door in there if you want to turn that space into a private bedroom as you would rarely use the feature and it ends up wasting space? I guess it all depends on how you want to use the space in the future as it would be a fun feature for a playroom but maybe less so for a private room :)
