BIG ANTIQUE MALL, BIG VINTAGE SELECTION | SHOP AND TOUR
Southport Antique Mall deceives, with a maze of aisles, rows of showcases and a honeycomb of rooms, booths and antechambers belying its overall size! We press on as we twist and turn through this major vintage pavilion, never quite sure where the next shiny object will be-or how to get back to the cash register!
There’s a pile at the register, to be sure!-but shopping is only part of the fun at this place, where some really rare toys, fragile antique fashions and a modernist designer table reflect the varied nature of the antiques and vintage on display. Showcase specialists highlight Murano studio glass, Disneyana and bowling collectibles! Marilyn Monroe even makes a surprising appearance.
True antiques appear on this side of the mall. From birth to death, Victorian sentimentality shows in familial prints. A cloverleaf table breaks the monotony of staid square lines. We feel the mores of an era when ‘Devil’s Doings’ appears on a bookshelf.
But for me, the deals come with the mid-century fun stuff that seems to be a mainstay of this mall! A Marx Apollo machine gun, an attractive signed bracelet and Indy 500 flags all make the trip to the front counter…with me in tow so I can follow the staff member back through the stacks! In the end, I end up with a nice group of items I can resell for good profit…and delight customer friends at the same time.
Here’s more of what we find in this large antique pavilion:
Latin dancer mirrors, Roy Rogers boots, Canadian bowling bank, feather hat, cloth 1910s valise, American Bisque Mickey Mouse planter, Salviati blue latticino compote, poker face tumblers, Hopalong Cassidy radio, baby bottle set, Jazzbo Jim toy, Joe Friday’s ‘Dragnet’ garage, war nickels and silver certificates, Tootsietoy doll furniture, fishing lures, dice lamps, Haeger planter, bells, Hallmark ornaments, Murano figures and bowls, 1960s ad placard, Joe St. Clair paperweight, Paul McGuire wheat table, bird flower frogs, etc.

That ruby colored bracelet is simply gorgeous. Where do you suggest finding info on an unmarked piece of costume jewelry? I bought a piece on an online auction fundraiser and knew it was a gamble, but, it's lovely and unfortunately unmarked. I think it might be Weiss or Julianna (SP?), but can't find anything yet. Any guidance would be appreciated. BTW, that segment on Murano glass was wonderful!

I'd have to see the backs to be able to tell you, unmarked costume jewelry has to do with construction clues as to identity. There's lots that's unknown as well.

The dresses were exquisitely made in those days. And everything is so pretty. Oh I love the blue bunny I hope you mention him, ahh great you did xx. I am quite taken with fishing lures some are so pretty for what they are. Oh the mirrors are adorable and such a good price, mirrors nowadays are very expensive. The Murano is right up my street.

Yes to the Murano, I'd happily own any and all! The blue bunny was too cute to ignore. I helped decorate a Christmas tree in old lures at an antique mall one year, it was practically stripped bare by the end of the season, people loved using them that way!

Sorry the premiere was interrupted. This was a great video. This place is just so big!! There is a two floor medium (compared to that place) sized one about half an hour away from me in Chadds Ford, PA. I got lost at one point in there as there are a few hallways that bring out out at odd places.
