Intrusive thoughts happen when your conscience mind misinterprets the subconscious. It's supposed to be a mechanism by which the subconscious warns you of danger or a threat or something wrong. When you get an intrusive thought, it doesn't mean that the subconscious wants you to do it, it's the opposite, it wants you to avoid whatever it is in the intrusive thought.

These thoughts come in cycles at different points in my life (usually of high stress) and it's easy to recognise them when they're here, but not when they are approaching. Am going to try your cloud technique, and the deep breath out. When they're particularly bad, that's when I get the "What's the point of everything?" thoughts and begin to think it would be easier to just not be around rather than feel like this. I think the hardest part is when the anxiety and negative, instrusive thoughts come sneaking in and i feel like i have lost. I know i havent and every step is a step forward. My biggest issue is my head, i get pains that come and go. They are always switching where they are when they come back and i just started getting pressure hives which also makes me anxious. I think its really fustrating that all it took was me learning of someone i have only ever met twice having a brain anyrisum and dying that took me to the place i have been for over a year now. I have a particular anxiety relating to intrusive thoughts that I was wondering if you had any coping strategy for. My intrusive thoughts tend to be involuntarily malicious or cruel, usually about people or causes that I care about. Basically, if I care about x, my intrusive thought will be negative and hateful towards x. The particular anxiety is that I’ve developed this fear that God or some deity is listening to the contents of my brain and is judging me for every evil sentence that ever occurs in my brain, so if my intrusive thought is particularly hateful and I’ve convinced myself that someone is listening and judging me for it in a way that I may be punished for, this is highly distressing. Especially since one of the reoccurring intrusive thoughts is involuntarily hateful TOWARDS God. This fills me with a powerful fear that I am being listened to and judged by the very being that the intrusive thought is insulting. Strangely enough, I was not very religious or even spiritual before I developed this anxiety. I believe it is definitely connected to the amount of time I’ve spent alone since the pandemic with nothing to do for some time but overanalyze every occurrence to my brain flow to the point that I gradually got to this place.

This is actually quite common. Here's a simple explanation, when you de-sensitise to a certain thought your sub-concious looks for something else to grab your attention, the bigger your emotional reaction the more your mind will keep repeating the thought. Like Dennis says in his videos if you were bored or disinterested in the thought it wouldnt reoccur. Becuase it upsets you so much you will keep ruminating. Take care and keep strong.
@sudipakarki51092 жыл бұрын
@@jonbe8304 how to de-sensitize? By not reacting towards it?
@jonbe83042 жыл бұрын
@@sudipakarki5109 Basically yes, try not to react emotionally, though this is a lot easier said than done especially when in fear mode. Practice meditation let the silly thought enter but dont force them or add to them just observe. Work out what your compulsion are, e.g. self reasurance etc and starve the anxiety of it. It takes time and persistance and more persisitance and whole heap of patience. Remember its a journey and youre ok you will make it, be kind and loving to yourself. Kind Regards Jon
