Man I would do anything to get health anxiety back. I’m currently struggling with obsessive thoughts and being convinced that I’m developing schizophrenia or another mental illness. At least with worrying if I was gonna have a heart attack, I would still feel like myself. Regardless, I know how hard health anxiety was and how hard it is for people. You can absolutely get over it. I don’t even think twice about brain tumors or cancer now

When it's your heart you fear it even more. I've been cleared from heart problems but still get PVC's and flutter. My cardio gave me 2 different types of meds for this and have done nothing to stop it. I've had these issues for 20 years and is worse today than in 1997 when it started just for no reason. I'm still seeking other tests for these debilitating health problems. I think this is THE WORST of all. I can't even sleep well. I wish I could get help. I'm a senior citizen now and still obsess over this.

Oh wow! I can totally relate. I always think the worst is happening to me. And my husband always get frustrated with me and he'll say "babe you're fine" and I'm like no I'm not! That's not going to work to calm me down. I feel like I'm always going to the doctors and it always the same one thing that's bothering me and each time I think that the doctors don't know what they're talking about. I would literally ask the doctor "Are you sure!?????" You're just giving me a diagnosis based on my symptoms ! Why aren't you sending me for blood work or a CT scan! Cause in my mind I'm thinking the worst possible scenario like a brain tumor or blood clot etc... sigh. It's so frustrating. I'm like I'm too young to be going through this... I'm just 24 😩 I swear all my life I've been this way. Since I've came across your videos I feel a bit at ease cause now I know that I'm really not alone. Cause I always thought that it was just me... I'm the only person who go through this.

Could you please do a podcast about health anxiety when something has actually happened in your life? I had a stroke 23 years ago and created a headache/migraine terror as well as experiencing another stroke. It seems with health anxiety you talk about things that are unlikely to happen - well you are right as the problem I had that caused the stroke was fixed by an operation - but my mind won't stop going on and on about paralysis and stroke. Do you have any ideas what I can do? It is 23 years now and I have created a groove of fear I am aware of my eyesight all the time in case I experience a migraine. The word itself is terrifying to me.

The worst of health anxiety is we always think"This is the ONE".went to the specialist checked, no growth, no tumor but the thoughts change it thinking patterns, it might due to other hidden illnesses, esp when medicine doesn't work out!

Hi Dennis! I have never seen this one. So relatable. It left me a doubt; when we talk about not taking action, lets say when the panic is striking hard and for example you are in your office. Does this mean to stay put in your desk altough your mind is on overdrive or it would be ok like acknoledging what is going on, go to the bathroom for a while and ride the wave? Because it seems impossible to stay faking everything is ok in that moment. Thanks again.

I don't know how to thank you enough for this video Dennis! I did a full body check up last 5 months ago and everything is fine it all started from panic attacks and now I have panic disorder and health anxiety I get really anxious about my health whenever I'm a bit far from home I don't how to fight this again I've been trying alot of things like facing my fears and going fat away from home just to show my mind that there isn't any danger but it's just not working can you help me with any tips? I'll be so grateful thank you
@TheAnxietyGuy18 жыл бұрын
The problem jesse is that most people try and deal with a symptom and not the core beliefs, the emotions they feel. It's not about fighting or using coping methods such as going to a comfort zone such as home or the emerg. It's about facing up and showing your subconscious mind that there is nothing to fear. The way to do this is to be absorbed in the moment. I had to move with my anxiety to the brink, the height of my symptoms and fears to begin desensitizing myself. Before anything make a list of all your coping methods and nervous habits, don't erase them but replace them with habits that will empower you and help you move with your fears and anxiety.

Dennis I had a bone marrow transplant for leukemia 24 years ago about. Does that event when I was 23 matter because I wasn’t between 0-7 but it was traumatic and my therapist calls it ptsd. Please let me know your thoughts on my reason behind my horrible health anxiety. I’m terrified to even go see a doctor now or even do blood work because my last one had elevated liver enzymes. Though slightly elevated it freaked me out enough to go into a cave. Help! Thank you for your videos. You’re awesome.
@TheAnxietyGuy13 жыл бұрын
These kinds of experiences can live within us unconsciously as traumatic memory and affect us in different ways. I would certainly look into reframing the memory, moments prior to the height of that challenge, as well as read my book F coping starting healing to implement the responding practices there while getting your blood test and conversing casually with a doctor in the present.

I can relate so much my health anxiety is so bad it's effecting my work school and home life. I constantly check Web MD even have the app and I always carry a thermometer because I always feel warm all my aches and small pains convince me I have a horrible disease or I'm going to die and no matter what I do i can't fix it i don't have a support system that understands what are the first steps to overcoming this? I have had anxiety literally my whole life first episode was when I was 3 says my mom I'm 21 now anyways what can I do I've done everything meds therapy can't seem to get over my anxiousness
@TheAnxietyGuy18 жыл бұрын
It all begins with an awareness of the triad that is involved with your high anxiety levels: Your mind, body and spirit. Your mind as far as the thought patterns, beliefs, Your body as far as how you use it daily through your breathing patterns, posture etc, and your spirit as far as your purpose and mission. I will go deep into this this weekend on the anxiety guy Facebook page and the next video on KZbin Matthew.

dannis I have a question: do you experience eye floaters by any chance after being extremely anxious for a while? Thank you!
@TheAnxietyGuy18 жыл бұрын
Jeremy Xu Not sure what eye floaters means sorry. If you mean the feeling that you're swaying on a boat type feeling, or you're eye consistently getting stuck in a spot, yes I had this. Gets better with physical and emotional rest.
@jeremyxu40868 жыл бұрын
The Anxiety Guy don't worry about it. Though I do get that swaying vertigo feeling with bad rest! Thank you for these help Dennis! Will keep supporting you!
@helenag.93868 жыл бұрын
eye floaters are little bits of the sides of the eye coming off and floating in the eye - it is visible to the eye as the eyeball moves. I notice about mine when I am anxious - which is most of the time. I freaked out for a while but then I moved on to other anxiety.
@jeremyxu40868 жыл бұрын
Helen Gillis First you must go check with an eye doctor if it is retinal tear or detachment (though most likely it will not be), after the check and the doctor says these floaters are harmless, your brain will learn to adjust to it and will eventually make them less noticeable or even disappear. Most people will get used to it. At around 6 month or a year, people usually get significantly improved with their floater situation. I think mine is getting worse and worse in the first month and better after the first month. Probably because my mood got a lot better after the first month. I hope this and Dennis' videos help you get out of anxiety asap!

Hi again, just running thru your videos, I like your 3 fear thing. My question is, with me I haven't had tests to prove to me I havent got a tumor for example.....do you believe it is important for ppl with health anxiety to get the tests in order to get better? Did you? And here it is......"what if" it is a tumor and all the time you believed or the docs wanted you to believe it was anxiety instead? And yes, will power goes only a short way.........
@TheAnxietyGuy18 жыл бұрын
A test is good because they put your mind at ease, and they did that for me. The problem becomes when we think the doctors missed something, so we dwell over it. But what's the core belief? The main fear? For me at least it was the fear of death. As soon as I convinced myself that re-incarnation was possible, I began desensitizing myself from what I feared. I also stopped feeding myself this story, a story that my subconscious mind loved because it is the one that wants to keep my out of trouble and to protect. Change the story change your life.
