In this video I talk about 3 things I wish I knew about depersonalization and derealization symptoms, things I didn't know until after I recovered. Had I known these things, it would have allowed me to recover much faster. But the truth is you have an innate ability to heal if the conditions for healing are put into place. My name is Jordan Hardgrave. I once suffered from debilitating trauma, depersonalization/derealization, anxiety, panic attacks, depression, health anxiety, social anxiety, existential anxiety, and many more things that wasted many years of my life. I was tired, frustrated, and gave up hope that I could ever find healing. To be honest, I didn’t even know I was traumatized. My symptoms became a part of who I was. They became “normal”. Many years ago, after throwing together all the tools I could find online (most of which didn’t help), I accidentally stumbled upon a body-based method that brought me permanent healing. I figured, “If I apply all these tools at the same time surely one will work”. Little did I know at the time that hidden within the dozens of tools that didn’t work, I had discovered body-based tools that DID work, which skyrocketed my results and got me to being 100% symptom free.
When I was suffering I made a commitment that if I ever could become symptom free (I never thought I actually would, lol), that I would spend the rest of my life helping others heal. I spent tens of thousands of hours and dollars studying under the top trauma and mental health experts in the world, as well as constantly perfecting my method until it would bring rapid results no matter how long someone had been suffering. I based my method off evidence-based tools as well as the work and understanding of experts such as Dr. Steven Porges, Dr. Bessel van der Kolk, Dr. Peter A Levine, and Dr. Joseph LeDoux just to name a few.

17:15 is my exact situation. I've improved my mindset for years and don't have any problems accepting the difficulties of life. yet I've seen 0 progress with DPDR. Only thing that helped was getting back into my body on a daily basis. I, too, am one of those people who wish I found you earlier. I would gladly pay any amount of money to get the last few years back. this is all to say, I hope your business continues to grow and you can keep helping more people. I'm on my path to recovery already and don't think I need to buy from you, but I encourage anyone else who's considering it to try to work with Jordan. It's taken me 2 1/2 years of learning on my own to get to this point of understanding that you can presumably get people to within the 12 week program.

Hey Jordan you helped me so much to overcome DP/DR and I just recently got hit with it again and I was confused why because I only got it at work and this video just helped me understand something completely different I always thought it was anxiety but you saying that it’s because of couped up emotions really made me understand so much more thank you so much you literally are my hero to make me feel normal again

Hi Jordan, I have been through a breakup with divorce, emetophobia, depressed feelings and lots of DR. 80% of the time I feel great, every now and then DR kinda still shows for example if I go away alone for a day without my beautiful children for once. I can't imagine where the root of it is supposed to be except maybe that my brain and nervous system still reacts like that even if there is just a little stress that would otherwise be managable. Do you have any experience there?

1) Any tips on what to do when it gets REALLY bad in the moment? Had a moment yesterday where the dpdr reached a 10/10 (10 being it's the worst; forgotten where I was, how I got there. Felt like looking at things for the first time, etc) 2) After building better interoception from your cause, I hold all of my tension in my neck, shoulders and back in particular. Any (fast) pmr techniques for your back? Thank you!!

Hey! The key is to prevent Dpdr vs respond to it in the moment. So that’s what I would focus on. If it does get bad you may want to take a very hot bath and get on your phone for 20 minutes. Also sprinting for 30 seconds can sometimes help then 20 minutes of pmr. But this is not a long term solution, the key is to address the things happening in your body and life that are creating stress and fatigue.

@@coachjordanhardgrave I don't think I have much stressors in my life. I know the course says to start enabling boundaries, or cut some people out, etc. But I can't identify any big stressor apart from being hypervigilant around people's moods (memorising footstep sounds and associating them to moods etc)

@@kirstencorbett2289 the stressors are mostly sensory triggers similar to painful things from your past that trigger stress sub consciously.

You will be aware of some of these sensory triggers but most of them you won't be. That's why it's important to stay in tune with your body and feel when your body is going into fight flight freeze response and do things to interrupt those responses (self regulation) which will desensitize the sensory triggers even if you don't know what they are.

hi jordan i did some research on the impact of trauma on the brain and it seems that some parts of the brain litrelly shut off during trauma and the main one is the Insul part of the brain which is responsable for internal felt sense the (body) what do you think about that ?

Your environment can play a big role in derealization and depersonalization. I have experienced this for years. What are your thoughts on getting over brain fog for years due to Benzodiazepine usage and hyperacousis induced by trauma?

Do you think if we go to therapy and start working on those complex situations of trauma we can start to heal as well? I'm starting EMDR therapy this week and I'm curious about your thoughts on this. This all started for me 12 years ago from a bad trip on shrooms. I got over it and recently its just been normal life stress that has reached its limit and the DPDR came back.

Yea happens to me to that it goes away on its own then comes back. How I try to cope with it is distracting myself with hobbies and exercise. It’s not life threatening but it can uncomfortable and annoying. Just keep in mind that it will go away and even though it comes back do not stress it will go away once you trick your brain to think that it does not need to protect you.

@@stephaniecruz6012 oh yeah im completely out of it now. EMDR for me did not work. It only made my nervous system more sensitive. What did help was pure acceptance. Allowing all of my anxious thoughts to be there and just living my life with all the symptoms I was getting. I stopped reacting with panic and rumination and instead just sat there being uncomfortable as hell and just allowed the symptoms to live with me. I stopped fighting them and it took me like 7 months of doing this before the DPDR went away.

Do the people you work with also struggle with depression? I feel like this is actually a bigger issue for me right now than DPDR. Therapy hasn't been helpful and I can't tolerate meds.

What us your opinion on using certain substances while experiencing these symptoms? For example I use caffeine daily and I know that effects your sympathetic nervous system. I also occasionally drink alcohol on the weekends. Would you recommend I quit these?

Caffeine is terrible for recovery. Alcohol also something I would stay away from.

Have had many sever traumatic events, everything has been an illusion and dream since I was 11. I am 46 now. Unfortunately, it was not a bad drug experience. Just can’t remember anything anymore. 🙏💝🙏

I was a long term drug addict & alchoholic. I developed dpdr during this. I'm recovering from addiction Now yet my dpdr symptoms still remain. I understand I created my own trauma & I'm really trying to understand the mental problems I created myself

hi jordan. if my pf muscles (dont know if its ok to put this information here for free lol) are constantly tight (even after getting 3!!!! massages in a day the best way to 'open' them up again is TRE right? its weird i had a moment one week ago where they just relaxed COMPLETELY for like 10mins and it was the best most relaxed 10mins ever haha. then they closed again, i guess that means that the stressed part of my nervous system is very overractive rn right? is that normal that it takes time for these muscles to open and close etc. and way to speed up this process? thank you so much love you man!!

and jordan one more question, i completely respect and understand if you dont have the time to answer buuut, what is it called when grief opens up old wounds? of abandoment, attachment wounds etc? if trauma is 'only' the body part? isnt there whole brain chemicals missing if you have bad attachment wounds / injuries or am i missing something here, what is that called then, no trauma right? no criticism whatsoever, just very interested! :)

for example if you have a whole wall between you and other people (which people with attachment wounds / trauma have) how is it possible then to resolve this with ONLY the body part? isnt the missing piece here connection which has nothing to do with the body?
