The US occupation of Iraq and Afghanistan, which led to the destruction of the two countries and killing, wounding and displacement of millions unjustly and aggressively, in addition to the atrocities committed in US prisons such as killing, rape , torture and humiliation like Abu Ghraib, Bagram and Guantanamo. All of this in order to steal Arab oil, dominate over the Middle East and support the genocidal Israeli occupation in Palestine, It is America's losing war that will lead to the fall of its empire that lasted from 1950s.

As an American it always saddens me to see how much we wasted on this war, the money we could have spent on our people, the wasted years of war with two countries who didn't attack us, and above all else the real trauma we caused to the untold number of Iraqi and Afghani people, and to our own soldiers. Being a kid and seeing all this history happen on the news was wild, but it was even crazier to become an adult and still having these wars still going on. All for nothing.

I was in college during the lead up to lraq, and I remember the drumming up of the war cause was so ubiquitous and pernicious. There was a concerted effort between the neocon admin and an obsequious mainstream media, but the case they made seemed so flimsy (it was largely predicated on overt nationaIism and retribution - a terrible combo - and questionable intelligence). Anytime I brought this up though I got called “unamerican” and a “t-ist sympathizer.” Within a few years, however, the whole WMD narrative fell apart and the war become unpopular, and all those people suddenly got reaaaaal quiet haha. Unfortunately no one faced any consequences, and I don’t think the population learned any lessons about groupthink or uncritically going along with popular sentiments.

great series. it would be nice if if you connected them is a more seamless manner to make it one cohesive documentary rather than a series of videos made years apart. ‘The Charlie Rose Show’, Spring, 2013 "Had you known prior to the invasion of Iraq that Saddam did not have WMD would you have continued to support the Iraq invasion? - Charlie Rose. "Yes, because he had had WMD" -former VP Dick Cheney. - Rose. The GW Bush administration repeatedly and publicly claimed Iraq WMD was a threat to the USA 2001-3. Immaterial is the WMD Iraq had 1962-1991, some of which the USA helped Iraq attain and develop. Iraq actively researched and later employed weapons of mass destruction (WMD) from 1962 to 1991, when it destroyed its chemical weapons stockpile and halted its biological and nuclear weapon programs as required by the United Nations Security Council.
@balancedboys12 күн бұрын
We still got attacked on 9/11. There was intel of chemical labs gathered post the attack. If someone goes out of their way to kill thousands of people and then you find out there is some evidence of actual WMD, and those who attacked deny allowing the UN to inspect the possible lead(s), then no. That's not something you just roll the dice on and hope it's not true. There has to be confirmation. 2001-03 America had every right to do what was necessary. And Iraq could've played ball but decided not to which can be presumed as guilt.

Guys. Youre making animated videos for each point discussed. Please put the date (or date range) of the events discussed in the corner of the screen. Having a constant reminder of the timeline of events makes it way easier to absorb information and construct a holistic mental picture of how things unfolded. I also recommend reminding people of dates and chronology ("five years after x...", "at the same time..." etc) more frequently in your script, so that people who are looking away or just listening can keep track of things without having to rewind. Timing is such an important aspect lf history and yet in your videos i find i lose track of it much more frequently than other history podcasts/videos. I have to try and pay attention intently for the full duration. At 1 hour 40 minutes, im usually consuming at least part of your videos in the background or while doing other tasks. Im sure many viewers are similar.
