Sarah, I truly enjoy watching an accomplished artist work! You are so easily understood that you are a wonderful teacher as well! I believe that you and Denise Soden have such a wonderful manner about you. She also has some wonderful color creating videos on her channel “In Liquid Color” snakes are not my favorite subject, but you created a lovely portrait of your green friend! Thank you for sharing this exemplary color theory video. Please take care and be safe over there in the UK!

This is a fabulous demo of a limited palette! Not many show a really good end result, especially in realism. Thank you 😊

They actually make a color wheel specifically for watercolor now, which includes dilution vs adding white etc.

I am very excited to hear this but haven't managed to find one yet... I will keep looking!

@@SarahNewburyArt I tried to send you a link but YT wouldn't let me. Blick, Jerry's, and Amazon all sell it. It's called the watercolor wheel.

Thank you for sharing waymire01! I ordered one through Amazon. I’d just ordered the Cox, but can see how it’s more acrylic oriented so I canceled that and got this one instead. Awesome information. I’m so grateful for YT.

@@SarahNewburyArt Hope you can find one on Amazon Sarah! I just ordered mine in place of the Cox.

Two of a few of my favorite things! Watercolor and reptiles! Absolutely gorgeous! Just curious did you specifically pick a mamba or did you just see a picture of this beauty and decide to paint it? Either way its gorgeous! Thanks for the video! Have a wonderful day!

Do you have any tips on how to figure out if the red-yellow-blue are warm or cool? I always tend to have one off, so either 2 cool and 1 warm, and it makes my colours muddy.
@SarahNewburyArt3 жыл бұрын
Hi! I tend to use the colour wheel. For example, cooler yellows are closer on the colour wheel to green than they are to orange or red and conversely, warmer yellows are closer to orange or red than they are to green. In the same way, a cool red leans more towards purple/blue and a warm red leans more towards orange/yellow. Cool blues lean more towards green/yellow and warm blues lean more towards red. I hope this makes sense! 😊

For anyone who doesn't know Winsor Blue is just pthalo blue. I would also suggest using a transparent yellow.

Thank you - and yes, a transparent yellow would have been a good idea! 😊

Sarah, have you ever considered a Patreon Website?

Hi Terri! I have thought about it a lot- but am not sure at the moment how I would fit it around my other job and being a mum too.... I haven't ruled it out though! 😊
