@@yobee1418 just being honest. The first Avengers movie came out in 2012. Merlin passed away in 02 at the young age of 26. By 2012, he would have been damn near 40. Also, he never had any good movie roles due to the lack of range in his acting. The Steve Harvey Show is what he is known for, and sitcom actors are not known for being elite on the big screen. Some are decent, but most don't make it. Look at the Steve Harvey Show cast. No one made it big as far as movies. Santana got his money for what he did, but he wouldn't have been a good fit for Marvel. By the time Michael B. Jordan was 26, and he had all kinds of accolades. The same goes for Jonathan Majors, Leonardo Dicaprio, and countless others. He was taking over Hollywood at all.

But as we all get older, very few people even care about that stuff; including the people who were trying to talk you out of it. I remember I was in 11 years old back in 2002 when I first watched the movie “Play’d”. It was on BET. I always been a movie fanatic but I remember Merlin played “Meyhem”, a rapper loosely based off 2Pac and he had so much conviction with his acting. In hindsight, it’s eerie that he was shot in the movie, survived and then died from getting shot again in the film, to end up being murdered in real life. And I didn’t know he died until like 7-8 years later when I never seen him in anything since “Play’d”, I clicked his Wikipedia article and read it. Damn… Art really does intimate real life sometimes. Those movies back in the early 2000s really shaped my childhood back then. I’m 33 now. Time flies!

At first this clip was making me sad. I grew up loving all of them he named so it was disappointing hearing they didn't get along. I'm glad they were able to mend whatever relationship they did have. RIP to Merlin, Lamont and Kobe ❤

He was the archetype for young black male actors, that carried out into the 2000’s & to this day! That young heartthrob who had good looks, physique, was artsy in music and theater, had some hood traits but also a crossover appeal. If you look at all the black tv shows or films in the 70’s, 80’s, early 90’s - they never had actors they were cutting edge like Merlin or Tupac. The Cosbys, Family Matters, etc. Specifically the archetype of the bad boy who’s a boyfriend or the attractive & yet dangerous relative with a heart of gold. Those roles are good for a young black actor cause it highlights their traits as potential stars in Hollywood.
@youngblood41273 ай бұрын
Sorry for the long message and hope my grammar was good. But yeah he was the Michael B Jordan Prototype. Had he won the role in Leonardo DiCaprios Romeo & Juliet, he would’ve been a much bigger star, but I’m glad he didn’t cause the character wears a dress & make up.

Fun fact: When he spoke about the cars on 125th street in Harlem next to the Apollo... He was referring to"Grants tomb, NYC."...every week, I believe it was a Thursday night, randoms would come out to flash their cars. I was a teen then, doing tricks on pedal bikes .but cops would try and knock us off or tug at bike handles when we rode in the streets..I guess due to how crowded the area was on those nights. Legendary nights though ..
