Wel done Mark! As usual to perfection as well.. Im tempted to pick up my brushes again. its been over a year with out motivation to paint. :(
@theartworkshop9 күн бұрын
thanks so very much! I know it all too well. What I like to do is just go back to basics- graphite pencils and a nice sheet of drawing paper or hot pressed WC paper. Find a simple drawing that someone else did and copy it. Or better yet, a master copy of someone like Leonardo or Ingres and draw it out yourself. That usually gets me back into the swing of things and usually motivates me to pick up the paints again.
@mwebb-019 күн бұрын
@theartworkshop ahh i see what you mean by back to basics. Very good idea. Thanks Mark

@@theartworkshopI have to agree with you! Since I have not airbrushed in a while! I have also went back to the basics! Which I love to do as well.. Pencil Drawing!! Which water color paper is your preferred brand? Which is your pencil brand? Specifically for hyperrealism portrait. Thanks !!!

@@jc2200 drawing is just the best. I really like the tombow MONO pencils the most. I always find myself coming back to them over any other brand. I do love the staedtler ones a lot too. Recently I've been working with the mitsubishi Hi-uni which are very nice, but still so new to me.
@jc22009 күн бұрын
@@theartworkshop oh wow nice ! I have been using the Faber Castell art pencils which I really like. Funny thing to mention is that I just purchased the Mitsubishi hi-uni set and the Faber-Castell Pitt Graphite Matte Pencils Set. They claim the shine does not show. What’s your favorite paper to draw on? Thanks

I really appreciate that, Louis. thanks so much! any news/update on your infinity?
@louisliguore71996 күн бұрын
It has been 18 business days since I first emailed H&S about the problem with my new 2024 Infinity CRplus, 11 business days since my second email, and 2 business days since my last email, with no response from them. I haven't been able to find an email address for Warwick, to let him know what is going on at customer support. My Infinity works best at 32 psi. It will paint at 30 psi, but will not spray below that. I am currently trying to paint an entire portrait using only it.

@@louisliguore7199 Oh man, I'm really sorry about this Louis! Hopefully they get it sorted out soon. If it makes you feel any better, I'm going through the same thing with my Badger gold sotar 60th anniversary. I can't use it because it arrived with a damaged packing seal. They said they were sending me replacement parts over month ago, but I haven't received anything. I don't know what's going on, but it's frustrating since I've had this airbrush for a few months and can't use it.

Sorry that you are having a problem with Badger support, these companies need to reevaluate how they handle customer support.

Unreal! Duh!!!! Why didn't I think of that. I have those boards... How does the ClayBoard compare to the "super heavy gesso" surface? And have you tried Apersand's GessoBoard? I've been using the Super Heavy Gesso exclusively lately - it's very smooth and forgiving but a pain in the rear to prepare. Are the Ampersand Glay or Gesso surfaces compatible? Thx bud.
@theartworkshop8 күн бұрын
Thanks so much! The gesso setup can be quite a lot of work, but I love doing it. It's kind of relaxing for me to setup a few canvases. But I hear you on this and it's one of the reasons I made this video. Clayboard is fantastic and a very high quality surface to paint on. It's very smooth ( a bit too smooth for me) so paint easily removes off the surface. Their gesso board has too much texture for me so I don't use it for airbrush stuff. But their primed smooth "Artist's panel" is fantastic though. It's a gesso panel sanded very smooth. I like that one and their claybord the most!

I'm stuck between the new CR Plus 2024 and the GSI Creos 771 custom. Opinions would be appreciated. Is H&S's new .28 better than their old .2 like they say? Or should I get the last gen CRplus for 25% less upgrade it to the new setup in time? OR spend a bit more and get the 771... ARGH!!! Decisions Decisions :)
@theartworkshop9 күн бұрын
2 absolute monster airbrushes!! Best of the best imo. I can't decide either because throughout this entire painting I kept switching off between the two of them. I found the new .25 and the entire airbrush design of the 24 infinity to be a huge improvement over the previous generation. It's fantastic.

Mark, you mentioned the Claybord not being very white. I was wondering if you ever prepped a Claybord with Autoborne sealer white before you start painting?
@theartworkshop4 сағат бұрын
Hey Dan yes, I have sealed a claybord before but it kind of defeats the purpose of working with it. It's a very unique surface to work on so I just use it as is. They make another awesome product called "artist panel" or something like that. It's a pure white surface prepared with gesso and much cheaper than their claybord. Very very smooth too. It's a good option if the claybord isn't your thing. Their other panel called "gessobord" has too much texture for me personally.
@danmaher79472 сағат бұрын
@ thanks. Yes I’ve used those before. I got them from hobby lobby. I like them. Take care.
