I think the way you reacted when you were carrying her and she tried to bite you was fundamental for her warming up to you so quickly afterwards. That made a huge difference in her mind, animals never forget the way you react when they are scared of you and even try to attack out of fear. If you stay calmed, it’s just like a click.

Did she have a bad life before? That's not the impression I got from the first video about Bentley. Her owners were moving and couldn't take her with them. She quite probably lived quite happily before.

This makes me beyond happy! This is probably the first time in Bentley's life that she has been treated like a respected being and embraced as part of the family. She really needed someone to love her and she has found that. She is an incredible dog, and I am SO happy for her!

The people who called him I believe must have taken care of Bentley because they called this guy who is a dog rescuer who owns Asher House. They probably couldn't take care of Bentley because of moving or financial reasons. Otherwise Bentley would have been taken to the SPCA. I mean come on they personally called him and had his private number. So before you assume or judge the situation look at the facts of what they did to make sure Bentley got a good home and it's very SELFLESS what they did by calling Asher House guy.

Bentley is a beautiful girl! Her face is so delicate and kind. I just watched Stella's videos. Thank you for the encouraging words. My time with my precious rescue Great Pyrenees, Leo, is coming to an end. He has cancer in his left front leg and the pain meds are not working as well as they need to be. This will be the 4th male pyr (all rescues) I have lost to cancer and it never gets any easier. I am trying to use Stella's strength and goodness, but it is so hard. My other rescue pyrenees, Becky, is one of the sweetest, gentlest angels one could ever ask for. She has been partially blind for a while now but that didn't slow her down. She always wants to snuggle in my bed when it is storming. I'm not sure if she is snuggling me because she is scared or is she protecting me from the thunder and lightning. Unfortunately, she is getting down in her hips and it won't be long before the kindest thing I can do is send her on to the Rainbow Bridge. Our rescue hound, Jake from State Farm (yes, he has khaki fur pants) is also beginning to have difficultly with his hips. I fear that he, too, will not make it through the winter. We had nine dogs, (all rescues and one on purpose) this spring, but lost two this past spring and summer-both of them to complications of old age. I am afraid that we will be down to only 3 dogs by the time spring comes around again. I was afraid that this might be the way things went, with so many older dogs, but I had to save them. I wouldn't change a thing except for my angels to live forever. Sorry this is so long, but I just had to get it off my chest.

@@SweetChicagoGator she is definitely 100% great pyrenees. If you look closely you'll see the dew claw on her back feet. This is something that the Pyrenees is born with. These are amazing guardian dogs specifically used for centuries to guard herds and flocks against other dogs, coyotes, wolves, and even bears. They will defend their flocks to the death. This is why she had a harder time adjusting to the pack, because she was bred to defend against other dogs. I can see how you would think she might be a golden retriever but they are much larger than typical golden

She is a beautiful example of a Great Pyrenees. I'm so glad he gave her the time that she needed. It's pretty normal for a Pyrenees to be defensive towards other dogs that they weren't raised with. I mean after all, it's what they're bred to do. To defend their herd or their flock against predators. Those predators are typically feral dogs, coyotes wolves and bears. I had a Pyrenees bring herself into my life a few years ago. I'm sure you know that the Pyrenees will take as much property as they are allowed. That's what makes them big wanderers. My girl came from about a mile to a mile and a half up the road and across the two-lane highway. She showed up here in terrible shape. Emaciated with 2 lb of poop matted in her tail. I know it was 2 lb because I weighed it out after I cut it out. The owners came back several times to bring her home and each time she hobbled her rickety ancient behind back here to my house. She's lived her entire life outdoors, but now she's happy living in my house and has taken on my cats as her flock to protect so that she still gets to work. We go outside umpteen times a day because as you know the Pyrenees craves the outdoors. She is about 14 years old which I find to be amazing because she's huge even for a Pyrenees. But I go out with her every single time she wants to go out and we walk my property as far as she wants to walk. We rest when she needs to rest and we come home when she's damn good and ready. I'm sure you know these are especially stubborn dogs and rather low energy compared to every other dog I've worked with, and there have been many in my lifetime. They're also nocturnal. Which fits into me and my schedule quite nicely. I have a lot of physical issues that put me on the disabled list and because of my pain I am often up at night and sleeping during the day. She has far more energy at night and so do I. I had never met a nocturnal dog so I really had to do some hardcore book banging to learn about her breed. I've dealt with a lot of different dog breeds in my day but this one is so different and so amazing. I'm so grateful she brought herself into my life. I'm sure I won't have her a long time because of her age but you can bet your bottom dollar once she's gone I will have another. Or a marimma

Remember this about GPs: they will take and take and take, but when their fuse blows, they are incredibly strong. But, they are so insanely smart, they have excellent judgment. My 140 male GP guards my other 4 dogs like a proud Papa and he teaches them manners.

You're wrong; the video was very exciting. When you went to take Bentley off the lease I felt fear. When Bentley calmly walked around the dogs, came up to you for reassurance I was so happy. It's so wonderful to watch Bentley be happy in the pack. It was heart breaking on the other video to see him so scared as he leaned into you as you carried him to the van. What a great job you did. Never had any doubt you could bring her around. My horse had '3 Ds' when I got her. . .dominant, defiant, and defensive. Lots of time, patience and a few boundaries, she's now an in-your-pocket 1300 pound pony. :-) It all takes time and love.

@@eleanoraquitaine2966 Not necessarily as Great Pyrenees are guardian dogs. They consider another dogs to be predators for whatever they are protecting. Livestock dogs don't hang out with other dogs because of that reason. They are normally standoffish.

Let's get some things straight here. Great Pyrenees are often left in the field with the animals to protect them. That's just the life of the typical Great Pyrenees. It's not that they aren't taken care of, but to do their job, often the owners don't "bond" with them so that they will perform their job and protect the herd. Owners want them to bond with the farm animals, not the people. Given that, they aren't usually real people pleasers. She is learning a new life, one that she obviously is quite enjoying, but that doesn't mean she was abused or mistreated. She was a working dog, and will be still, to some extent, but now she will also have the job of protecting Lee, since he has bonded with her. You just have to understand the breed, and what they were bred for, and that will lead you to understand how they normally live their lives, and how she will learn to adjust to a different life now. But yes, towards people, she has, and will still even more so.... come out of her shell towards people, and the rest of the pack.

After meeting the pack, Bentley was like, “Umm...Ok, are we good now? Can I go back to tending my flock of animals?" 😂🐴🐖🐓 She is beautiful! Pyrs’ demeanor and gait are similar to Bernese Mt Dogs, but with snow white fur. I’ve owned 3 BMD’s and Bentley reminds me of my Zoe. That really is an amazing transformation! He feels loved, safe, and he probably didn't trust other dogs, didn't feel safe amongst other dogs, until your pack told him hey- this is the best place ever, welcome, you're safe here, and you will be so very loved! And the food ain't bad either! 😂

I love how Bentley pushes you to get up and laying her head on you is priceless. We had a dog that looked like her, his name was Snowy. Soo sweet.❤❤
