Since opening the latest revival of Fiddler on the Roof, Alexandra Silber, Samantha Massell, and Melanie Moore have become Broadway's favorite sisters. As Tzeitel, Hodel, and Chava, respectively, their familial chemistry is evident when they sing Sheldon Harnick's signature trio "Matchmaker" on the stage of the Broadway Theatre. However, their bond is even more palpable when the women deliver the number while scratching longingly on the glass walls of a recording booth. Go inside the making of the Broadway cast album - available March 10 exclusively at the Broadway Theatre and in stores March 18 - and see history in the making as these powerful ladies lay down another "Matchmaker" for the books.

Alexandra Silber's voice makes me think she would be successful singing jazz or blues. Her voice is very soulful.

And maybe not right for this? Totally out of character in my humble opinion... but oh well, just a different approach. Still a stellar performance

If you go to the box office when it opens on the morning of the show they sell $37 rush tickets. That's what I did and my seat was in the center of the orchestra. Many people don't know this and the discounted tickets through other agencies are like $88. It's well worth that but I couldn't afford that either right now, definitely worth $37!

Okay... Melanie Moore has an amazing voice! And seeing as how she's primarily a dancer... that makes the surprise of it all the more amazing. Oy ve'... who knew? She should run for office.

What's really annoying is she's also an amazing artist - a painter. i think she majored in art in college. A ridiculous amount of talent for one person.

Not only does Melanie Moore look like Ginnifer Goodwin, she sounds like her too. They need to act together as sisters or something because the resemblance is uncanny!

To me the 1971 film soundtrack was the best Recorded version of the music. But this is great nonetheless. Sadly the Original Zero Mostel Broadway Soundtrack Recording missed my favourite song, the Chava Ballet Sequence (Little Bird).

4:30 the great Sheldon Harnick. With the passing of Stephen Sondheim, only Mr. Sheldon Harnick and John Kander are the only ones left of that incredible group of Broadway composers/lyricists of the 50's - 80's era.

Research answered my question: it's Sheldon Harnick, the original lyricist, who has been advising the current production. www.npr.org/2014/04/30/308276626/at-90-fiddler-lyricist-tells-his-story

What's up with you? They weren't performing in front of an audience. It was a recording studio. Did you want them to be dancing around the room? The orchestration was superb!

@@Jenny_1158 Yeah, it was superb. But what part of low-energy didn't you get? Are you one of the sad sacks? Awe. Sorry.
@Jenny_1158
@Jenny_1158 2 жыл бұрын
@@manhattan123 Maybe I am. "Low energy" is far from an accurate description of the orchestration. I don't understand what you were expecting. Steel guitars? Percussion? Are you one of those who are quick to criticize everybody else because you think of yourself as "perfect"? If so, please post a video of you in an orchestra and let's see your high energy.
@manhattan123
@manhattan123 2 жыл бұрын
@@Jenny_1158 Aww so you are a sad sack? As I said, they were superb, but just low energy. I've seen plenty of studio recordings where the orchestra actually seems to be enjoying themselves. It's okay. The world needs sad sacks too. Bless you.
