Laura Osnes and Tony Yazbeck Win Our Hearts in George and Ira Gershwin's Crazy for You

Manhattan Concert Productions' 25th anniversary concert performance of Crazy for You took place February 19 at David Geffen Hall. Directed by five-time Tony Award winner Susan Stroman, the musical's original choreographer, the show featured musical-theater favorites Laura Osnes and Tony Yazbeck in the lead roles, along with Rachel Bloom, Rachel Dratch, Jerry O'Connell, original cast member Harry Groener, and many more. I was not expecting much, but the energy in the hall was amazing. Susan Stroman workshopped this in January with Yazbeck and Osnes. Three private presentations given late in the month. No Broadway production announced. Speculation that waiting for a theater, waiting for Rachel Bloom, in the cast at Lincoln Center, to wrap up the last season of "My Ex-Girlfriend" so she can join the cast. Also, might not have got the financial backing.

@@maxaustin3377 Sorry, I'm way behind on my TV literacy. Tony moves another step towards stardom. Joins James Lapine with Carmen Cusack and Harry Hadden-Paton in "Flying Over Sunset." a limited run LCT production. Susan Stroman not saying Crazy is dead, at least not to me. Still waiting for a theater. I believe that she is committed to getting her "Marie"/"Little Dancer" musical to Broadway over six years after it premiered in Washington. Had a one month trial in Seattle last spring that told them it still wasn't ready. Pencilled in for next season, but no details. Unless they throw in the towel, looks like Susan will be occupied with "Marie" when Tony is free again. Some things not meant to be.
