WHAT IS THE ATHEIST EXPERIENCE?
The Atheist Experience is a weekly call-in television show in Austin, Texas geared at a non-atheist audience. The Atheist Experience is produced by the Atheist Community of Austin.
The Atheist Community of Austin is organized as a nonprofit educational corporation to develop and support the atheist community, to provide opportunities for socializing and friendship, to promote secular viewpoints, to encourage positive atheist culture, to defend the first amendment principle of state-church separation, to oppose discrimination against atheists and to work with other organizations in pursuit of common goals.
We define atheism as the lack of belief in gods. This definition also encompasses what most people call agnosticism.

I've been an atheist for five years now. I was brought up as a fundamentalist Christrian and I worked in children's ministry for 20 years since the age of 12. I almost became a pastor in 2010. I was a worship leader for the last six years of my Christian life. What saved me and liberated me from Christianity was rationality. My hunger for truth finally became too strong and I looked at the gospel and realised God was a cunt for creating people who would go to hell despite knowing they would go to hell.

I have a lot of respect from this guy, he was a breath of fresh air considering the normal type of call in. And watching both Seth and Matt in operation here, I have no question that they not only fully respected this man but appreciated how he interacted. In fact, they really were invested in helping him because he is the kind of person one would care about.

Agree entirely, Edward Graivier. Too many other commenters here fail to realize that Chris isn't at all "not listening" to Matt and Seth. It's important, if we want to help god-believers, to actually listen to what they are saying. Not all of them are close-minded, and many are on a long tough journey to enlightenment. I give you high marks as well.

Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. ~Hebrews 11:1 The word "faith" is defined as "belief that is not based on proof," or--in other words--belief without evidence. The word "substance" is defined as " that of which a thing consists." Faith then, by definition, consists of itself--belief without evidence--therefore contains no evidence, and thusly, cannot be the substance or evidence of anything!

@Austin Mark I've watched more videoes than I dare admit of the athiest experience over the years and theists have prettu much alwaus used the SAME arguments over and over again (plenty of them even admit to it). The only real thing that has changed is their attitude. The AXP no longer receive threats of decapitation, Matt generally doesn't have to hang up on them AS much any more when they get exposed and they're more kindle as they realize their historically permanent majority is shrinking and those of minority faiths (atheist, muslim, hindu, shiek etc.) are less willing to take their shit anymore.

@Austin Mark None of those people call the show anymore, because the show is no longer run on weekends on public access TV. It´s on KZbin now. Younger audience that HAS to have a connection to the internet or more accurately, has access to information other than what their parents and priests are telling them is true.

"But good Christian scholars of the Bible, including the top Protestant and Catholic scholars of America, will tell you that the Bible is full of lies, even if they refuse to use the term. And here is the truth: Many of the books of the New Testament were written by people who lied about their identity, claiming to be a famous apostle - Peter, Paul or James - knowing full well they were someone else. In modern parlance, that is a lie , and a book written by someone who lies about his identity is a forgery." - Dr. Bart Ehrman, PhD, New Testament scholar.

Thank you all for what you do. I am an ex-JW Jehovah's witness and have abandoned religion as we know it, all together. If there is a good of kind mercy, it is not depicted in the Bible. If there is a good who cares at all, that would be a bonus to the human story, but I am no longer convinced. It is not necessary to believe in a creator to be a loving human, in fact, not believing might just make us more human and more loving.

Everything about religious belief depends on faith. What really destroys faith? Lies that religious people tell. One thing we can all thank Trump for is making it so very clear how corrupt the morality of religious people is. Or as Trump would say "Fake morality". Years ago I had faith, I believed. I had no reason not to believe. But hearing lies told to me by religious people gave me reasons NOT to believe. People, particularly evangelical people, who are the same people who today worship Trump, caused me to realize that lies is all they have to offer. I no longer believe in Jesus. But if there was such a being, he would not approve of what Trump evangelicals do or say. Jesus would say that lying is wrong.
