God could have said a LOT of really progressive and enlightening things, particularly in such a brutal, primitive and backwards thinking period of time, in the savage deserts of the Middle East! But "He" didn't... MEN wrote the damn Bible! And these men were living in brutal, primitive and savage times! Hence why THEIR book reflects this!!! I mean if God is beyond time and space, then why is the Bible so grounded in the damn Bronze Age!? But alas, when faced with such irrefutable logic, play the damn music and watch those tap-dancing theists dance around the issues, as they try to justify appalling human behaviour! Of course God is all powerful. And it might be good you are against slavery, but please look to our situation now. Girls are selling their body as slaves. Mothers sell their kids as porn for pedophiles. I sure hope you don't watch those programs on Internet! And then we have the slaves working for Amazon, apple and other big earning companies where the directors swim in money and their slaves are fired when they can earn more by moving their factories to another country. The good thing is that the Bible tries to regulate that. Take care of your slaves. God is powerful, but this world of money will always enslave others to get richer. It was not that way in paradise. It's our own fault. We broke God's laws. And God lets us live with the results in the hope we will give up our own will and start doing His will. And for the moment He won't force us.... I don't see anything bad in the Bible. I do see a lot à bad in people today. And who is not to blame? To free a slaves now... How will they earn money? They can't set up their own business or farm. We're doomed to be slaves. Unless...

It seems to be a legitimate question, since the specific word used in Hebrew from what I’ve heard, means the death penalty. @DrJames Powers Magic is a supernatural force. Nothing you listed is a supernatural force. It's what cells have in their processes. Quantum Fluctuations, nothing comes from something. I've told you this several times. Natural causes dont need a intelligent mind to happen. The big bang was an expansion of singularities, not a small dot. It took billions of years for the earth to form, and the cell to "diversify" DNA into 10 million other species. This isn't magic. This is nature. Not to mention, that the cell doesnt need a mind.
@reparter1327
@reparter1327 5 жыл бұрын
@DrJames Powers Finite nature was created at the big bang. "At this time, the Big Bang, all the matter in the universe, would have been on top of itself. The density would have been infinite. It would have been what is called, a singularity. At a singularity, all the laws of physics would have broken down. This means that the state of the universe, after the Big Bang, will not depend on anything that may have happened before, because the deterministic laws that govern the universe will break down in the Big Bang. The universe will evolve from the Big Bang, completely independently of what it was like before. Even the amount of matter in the universe, can be different to what it was before the Big Bang, as the Law of Conservation of Matter, will break down at the Big Bang." -Stephen Hawking. Also, you have done nothing to prove your "Infinite god" . You saying he is the cause of everything isn't proof. And, just because something looks intelligently made, doesnt mean it is. Infinite density, all of the matter in the universe would have been on top of each other. The density would have been infinite. It would have been, what is called, a singularity. (Paragraph above)
@reparter1327
@reparter1327 5 жыл бұрын
@DrJames Powers Also, spouting a paragraph of bullshit isn't exactly winning an argument. You said once before, that you're a scientist. Yet, you go against everything science has discovered? And, apparently, you figured all this "science" out that just somehow can prove a God. You're a Pseudo scientist. Everything you say would be refuted by an actual scientist who works in the field you're arguing on.

@DrJames Powers Bullshit. You're as morally bankrupt as your holy book is. Even Paul said "Slaves, be beholden/subject to your masters" in Ephesians AND in 1 Peter. Just because Yahweh supposedly delivered the Canaanites from Egypt (an event debunked by Archeology, by the way) doesn't mean that he was opposed to slavery. It just means that he plays favorites. It wasn't that he was opposed to slavery, it just means that he was opposed to his favorite sheep herders being enslaved. You haven't debunked shit. You're just rationalizing in your own head that your book has some pretty reprehensible atrocities in it. Don't believe me, let's get off of slavery and just talk about cruelty to children. Psalms 137-9: Blessed is he who takes and dashes your little ones against the rocks. Elisha in 2 Kings 2-23 and 24 where he gets teased by kids and he has bears come out and maul them to death. Abraham willing to kill his own son at Yahweh's command in Genesis 22-1 thru 19. Abraham was going to go through with it, not knowing that he was being tested.

If anyone else is interested in other mentions of slavery, here are a few more if anyone decides to say the Bible never mentions this...... 1 Corinthians 7:21 - Were you a slave when you were called? Don’t let it trouble you-although if you can gain your freedom, do so. 1 Peter 2:18 - Slaves, in reverent fear of God submit yourselves to your masters, not only to those who are good and considerate, but also to those who are harsh. 1 Timothy 6:1 - All who are under the yoke of slavery should consider their masters worthy of full respect, so that God’s name and our teaching may not be slandered. Colossians 3:22 - Slaves, obey your earthly masters in everything; and do it, not only when their eye is on you and to curry their favor, but with sincerity of heart and reverence for the Lord. Exodus 21:32 - If the bull gores a male or female slave, the owner must pay thirty shekels of silver to the master of the slave, and the bull is to be stoned to death. Leviticus 25:39 - If any of your fellow Israelites become poor and sell themselves to you, do not make them work as slaves. Titus 2:9-10 - Teach slaves to be subject to their masters in everything, to try to please them, not to talk back to them, 10 and not to steal from them, but to show that they can be fully trusted, so that in every way they will make the teaching about God our Savior attractive. Luke 12:47-48 - The servant who knows the master’s will and does not get ready or does not do what the master wants will be beaten with many blows. 48 But the one who does not know and does things deserving punishment will be beaten with few blows. From everyone who has been given much, much will be demanded; and from the one who has been entrusted with much, much more will be asked. Leviticus 25:44-46 - Your male and female slaves are to come from the nations around you; from them you may buy slaves. 45 You may also buy some of the temporary residents living among you and members of their clans born in your country, and they will become your property. 46 You can bequeath them to your children as inherited property and can make them slaves for life, but you must not rule over your fellow Israelites ruthlessly. Ephesians 6:5-9 - Slaves, obey your earthly masters with respect and fear, and with sincerity of heart, just as you would obey Christ. 6 Obey them not only to win their favor when their eye is on you, but as slaves of Christ, doing the will of God from your heart. 7 Serve wholeheartedly, as if you were serving the Lord, not people, 8 because you know that the Lord will reward each one for whatever good they do, whether they are slave or free. 9 And masters, treat your slaves in the same way. Do not threaten them, since you know that he who is both their Master and yours is in heaven, and there is no favoritism with him. Deuteronomy 15:12-18 - If any of your people-Hebrew men or women-sell themselves to you and serve you six years, in the seventh year you must let them go free. 13 And when you release them, do not send them away empty-handed. 14 Supply them liberally from your flock, your threshing floor and your winepress. Give to them as the LORD your God has blessed you. 15 Remember that you were slaves in Egypt and the LORD your God redeemed you. That is why I give you this command today. 16 But if your servant says to you, “I do not want to leave you,” because he loves you and your family and is well off with you, 17 then take an awl and push it through his earlobe into the door, and he will become your servant for life. Do the same for your female servant. 18 Do not consider it a hardship to set your servant free, because their service to you these six years has been worth twice as much as that of a hired hand. And the LORD your God will bless you in everything you do.

Since they did not then either it was and still is moral or (as you stated) morality changes and god is not the arbiter of morality unless the morality patch notes get lost somewhere between updates.

Due to the its content, the bible should be age restricted. The material inside is not suited for children.

@DrJames Powers ALL religious "facts" have already been debunked, you just dont want to accept it. Your purpose in life is to love God? You should aim higher. I dont blame you, I think, that you were severely indoctrinated as a child. You are a victim, like it or not. It is horrifying to read that you consider life to be worthless and that you think yourself incapable to find a purpose in life other than worship. Dont you have any dignity? Self value?

If you take the Bible literally it should taken as written. Otherwise it is not true.

Exactly, these believers wanna believe the Bible is great, then they need to accept the evil crap their imaginary friend does and quit being spoon fed the rainbows and happiness BS every week from some guy who thinks he knows the Bible.

The caller argues choosing slavery over imprisonment, as punishment, due to criminal behavior-Is biblical slavery criminal based? The problem with entire argument, is that is was oriented around the beating aspect of slavery, when the slavery itself is the problem-Being the reason for the beatings.

@@jogriffin9347 Well, banning religious scripture is useless because people agree with it, making it psychological. People either agree with it (unless they're brainwashed), or they use it for their own benefit.
