Again they didn't have to be indentured servants they could have stayed out and just died a long slow painful death no food, no shelter and no way to protect themselves. Had it been you in that situation what would you have done? With the attitude you exhibit I imagine you would be one they would have had to bury, but I could be wrong perhaps you would have been an indentured servant owner instead. Keep in mind that a person had to AGREE to be “SERVANT” as we read in Deuteronomy 23:15-16. It also cost a man 7 yrs to pay for a wife. It was simply a different time. This is an example of what I mean about the term "respect" having been redefined in the last 20 years or so. Matt is being respectful in the classic sense by giving HR every opportunity to give a straight answer. HR is being disrespectful in the classic sense by dodging the opportunity.
