first, it is called a brake. it is to be used as a lock, or you will wear your fly lines. second, never unload an arbor with your arms going around a line. you have to go one hand off to bring your hand around the line, and if you are in a loading gallery, you could drop a brick on someone's head. (the brick could bounce as far as center stage. not saying it will but i've seen a brick go from a loading gallery to usc in 5 seconds)

Great to watch the technical side of theatre stage mechanics 🙂

Is this the east Grand Rapids preforming arts center? I was a fly there when I was a freshman in highschool after literally applying to be a makeup artist if not casted. It was quite the experience and I ultimately was just too physically small to be of any help. I recognized the venue immediately. The experience was quite traumatizing.

what’s up the vertical ladder from the loading rail?

I assume to go up to the grid or the locking rail

I'd love to work in a theater that nice. I always seemed to end up in the dumps.

If you live in or near Salt Lake County in Utah, we'd love to get your help! :) Yes, this theater is a brand new $45,000,000 theater that we feel VERY lucky to perform in.

It is 100% a lock, NOT a brake.

@@staynielherbayn657it's a brake, but you use it as a lock. braking with it will wear lines and best case you need to replace lines and worst case you snap a line and send a baton flying in at mach jesus
