Wednesday at the farm

Our Wednesday started with Bandit sitting in his armchair enjoying the warm sunlight and Maddie the Border Collie delivering the girls their favourite pink dinosaur donuts! Thank you Maddie.
Charlie ran to the gate to meet his mates and all the doggies ran to greet Aunty Sam, I even got some zoomies from little Elly which made my day!
Frankie the Westie likes to tell us how to run things and we don’t mind we quite like her little barking orders, they’re usually to hurry up or have more fun!
Tangerine the Kelpie didn’t disappoint with her excited 360s when the quad started up today. Luna the Kelpie outran the quad by miles! She even takes the steep outside track and still beats the quad to the finish line!
Zac put on his super cape for big ball time in the dam. Luna leapt in, Bandit jumped and Zaccy kinda misjudged where the dock ended and may have unintentionally dived in ... but very quickly recovered, speeding off after his ball. Kona had the winning strike at the end, off the dock and a fatal blow to the big ball today!
Pete’s 9th Birthday ...
Happiest of birthdays to you dear Pete! Celebrating his 9th birthday today at the farm with all his mates and a yummy warm and freshly baked chicken cake!

Farm Dogs in the Spotlight...
Today we talked about Kona the 8 year old Labrador. Kona is a super fit Lab whose favourite activity by far is swimming and diving. Kona loves it so much that every day when we leave the playground and head for the bush we pass the big Summer pool and he waits excitedly in the hope that we will be going in there.
Kona has a very unique jump off the dock. He’s got a lot of power with his high jumps and almost pops off like a Kangaroo! He loves pouncing on the water toys.
Kona has travelled from the UK with his family and back home he was trained in hunting and retrieving pheasants. We got a good first hand look at his hunting style earlier this year when he decapitated the Easter Bunny!
Kona gets a lot of enjoyment out of his farm trips as a very active dog and we enjoy seeing the big smile it brings to his face.
The afternoon pool session...
It’s always a big pool pawty in the afternoon on a Wednesday! There’s so many lovers of the water in this pack!
Spartacus the Vizsla and Bandit the Boxer are hilarious with their game in the pool now. It’s now progressed to Sparty standing on the side watching as Bandit pushes it into the pool and then Sparty pounces on it as Bandit watched his much loved toy swim away!
Zara the Labrador saved Luke’s life again and then smothered him in hugs and kisses.

Charlie was the best mascot ever. He did his job so good and well. He always stayed behind to make sure everyone was out of the area they were leaving. Remember he made sure everyone was accounted for. You did a superb job buddy. Love you. I understood what you were doing . You weren’t slow you just took your job very seriously.

I feel so bad for Charlie. He appears to be very happy, just seeing him aging not able to keep up with his mates is sad. Unfortunately, it happens to everyone in life. I'm just glad that Charlie seems to get satisfaction watching his friends play like he once did when he was physically able. At least he loved and has many many friends by his side in life. If you have all that at Charlie's age you are truly blessed. That is a rich life. most think it's about money they are sadly mistaken.

Is there some reason some dogs have on what you call super caps or life preservers & some don't..I thought all dogs could swim?

Just like humans, some dogs need a little more work on their confidence in the water. Some breeds and personalities it may come naturally, while other dogs may not be as confident or even may have a fear of the water. We work with those who are less confident and use the life jackets as a training tool until they are confident enough to swim without it, just like a child learning to swim. We love watching their confidence grow
