Congratulations to Nigeria from Canada. I have never been to the continent of Africa, but I was amazed by this video. More and more of these kind of videos should be shown to the world. Not just to compete with each other, but to learn from each other. The organization World Vision shows poverty videos from Africa so people can donate, but we need to see the real Africa too. Well done Nigeria! I believe if Nations stop focusing on military powers, and focus on humanity, there is enough food and wealth on this earth for every single person to have a great life.

Are the Negroids who come here from Africa, become successful people and are rich also responsible for your claims? You are just assuming things about everybody around you without knowing a thing about them. Are you also gonna blame the Mongoloids too? FYI I'm black. @@simonbrown7455 😂😂 nice one hahaha. Yes it is true we didn't have no choise indeed. It is a work that has been going on for centuries and it will never be finished. We did proclaim thousands and thousands of km2 back from the sea. We did also turn a bay of the North sea called the Southern sea into one big lake of 5 thousand km2, called the Ijssel lake. And in that lake we created +/- 1500 km2 of land in the last 60 years. If you take a map of the Netherlands from one hundred years ago and put it next to a modern map you would not recognize it. If a very small nation like the Netherlands can do this, I'm very confident that the beautifull people of Nigeria will also achieve their goals. I do have all confidence in them ! 👍💪✌😊

@@swissbiggy hahhaha i love you guys. True true true. Yeah im aware of the history of the Netherlands its pretty epic. Im also sure the UK had to lease pumps from holland during past floods. I just feel for that kind of development resorces could be more wisely distributed. Building into a rising sea in knowing what we know seems wasteful especially for lavish homes and offices. It seems like an unsustainable location and the wealth could be better distibuted across the city. Say spend the money and time it takes to build up the land into infrastructure. The dutch cut off the sea right ? There was already a rough outline to follow and fill but this project is essentially branching out into the sea.

Nigeria also has a space program, which is critical for scientific and economic advancement, leading to massive improvement in the overall standard of living. They always tell us how projects like these bring in investments, but let's be honest in a corrupt country like Nigeria that money will never trickle down in a meaningful way. Ways to bring in actual long-term investments? An educated workforce with a decent standard of living and legitimate possibilities to move in the social strata will create space for entrepreneurship and thus foreign investment, on top of increasing domestic demand and investment. Creating shiny new waterfronts works only if you want to be the fancy tourist destination in the region.

@@Greippi10 Problem is, creating an educated workforce takes a very large amount of time, which is filled with slow, unnoticeable progress - at least, unnoticeable to foreign investors. By making this project, the city/country have something to point at and say "look at this! We're making progress right now!" instead of just telling investors that they're slowly creating an educated workforce that will be eager to work and become entrepreneurs. I'm not saying it's a good thing, but showboating like this is the only way to get the attention of foreign investors.

And thinking is not just reading labels.......The architects and developers should have their licenses pulled (licenses?). What is the average R value of the average modern highrise? Answer: 3. Virtually no R value, just a token layer to keep out drafts and moisture. Climate change dictates that we re-invent almost everything we have, starting with the biggies like high rises. All these buildings are obsolete from a Global Warming perspective. How will they be air-conditioned? This is the same as letting the ICE car companies keep controlling car markets. Time for all those legacy industries to retreat back into the sand. This is why we have no chance at beating Global Warming. 99% of the world is clueless.

@jlhaws115 so we are basically guessing. A best guess estimate. But it's all we have. I think there are natural cycles that our science has never evwn contemplated and that is why Science seems to be at variance with nature and the information known to those who follow ancient reading/traditions. But whatever the case. We are all.in trouble. Big trouble. I suspect that there shall be a perfect storm of Volcanoes...earthquakes and Weather events globally that will reset our current cycle. That Ring of Fire is just ready to pop. This is not "global warming" or man made...man may have hastened it no doubt he has played a supporting role... But it more likely is an over arching cycle that was bound to hit us anyway. And we are only beginning to grasp this fact. If you have the time/interest please take a look at the Earth Catastrophe Cycle on Suspicious Observers Channel on You Tube. It has 23 episodes that lay out the Scientific basis of what is happening. You might find it interesting. May The Universe look kindly upon you and yours. Today and always.....Peace

That's what I was thinking. If you get one of the only chances to design a large 10kmsq city center with a blank canvas these days surely you'd get the public transport down first. If they expect the city to have 100 million people it's gonna be a congested shithole if they design it for cars first. It's pretty much a rectangle so just 1 single tram/subway loop would provide full coverage of the entire 10km. Then since again it's from scratch they could have put segregated cycle lanes through the whole thing. Just seems short sighted. I know it's a bit early to have them set up now but at least build it into the design so that in 20 years it can be added without much hassle since the space is already set aside.

Some cities have tried hard like San Francisco and Portland and even NY is retrofitting itself to be more bike friendly but it’s going to be an uphill battle. Places like Dubai have a unique struggle because there is so much money and not enough urban planners.

I suppose you could’ve Googled it but here we are, aren’t we? The sea wall rises 18m. Sea levels are expected to rise only a tiny fraction of that height in the next 100 years.

Such a descriptive video B1M. Thank you for expanding on this amazing city. I was uncoincidentally there a few weeks back--construction is still on but the area looks and feels innovative. Engineering of this class is such a beauty to behold.

When Nigeria builds this, it will have risen tremendously in appeal and peak interest in tourism which may relieve the dependency of its natural resources to generate GDP. This was the same route the UAE took and now there's less dependence on their Oil and more on tourism. If they build one of the tallest towers in the world at some point, that would definitely bring tourism.
