Deadspace 2 has a flamethrower, and allegedly it's better than the flamethrower in Deadspace 1. But it's also hidden deeper in the game. Can you beat Deadspace 2 with just a flamethrower? Time to find out.

Dead Space 2 received a lot of praise for portraying Isaac as an actual engineer instead of just a shooty guy, and your playthrough definitely shows that side of him. Just a hardworking guy trying to get through a day at the office.

the flamer was really improved in 2, it now stuns enemies with each puff, the ds3 flamer has almost no range but it is insanely powerful. give it a stun effect and upgrade its ammo and damage and you can kill the strongest enemies almost instantly. funny thing is dead space one says its a hydrazine flamethrower. it should work in space. in fact, with even a small amount of oxygen and rust it should explode.

The stalkers, the ones that remind you of velociraptors, were kinda meant to act like them actually. They are the most intelligent normal necromorphs you can come across. They flank, the flee, they hide and they ambush.

Unlocking the foam finger was one of the most frustrating but satisfying things I've ever done in my history of gaming. That eye poke machine was so intense and I remember my heart pounding like crazy at the last boss and dodging those rocks to get to the ship. This game has always held a very special spot in my heart.

​@@hammer1349 I alao used to underestimate the speargun. Until I realized that 1: it hits like a truck and 2: once you got the special explosive, if you stop aiming the javelins explose instantly. So you can spam the explosions on everything, even melting final boss quicker than any other gun.

You can use telekinesis on the acid spitter's globs while they're in mid air. Hitting one with it is a one shot kill. Also there's a surprising amount of fights where you can unarmed something (like the windows in the laundry room) and it'll give you good telekinesis material.

If you ever decide to redo this challenge (unlikely, i know), I'd personally be cool with you starting with a DLC flamer. They don't appear much stronger, you'd just be getting it earlier. And with the lack of early game upgrades, it'd still be weak to start.

Fun Fact about the Necromorphs and Marker. After a certain biomass is reached they actually develop a hive mind.

they aren't feral like an animal, they literally only exist to create more biomass so they aren't afraid of death or damage

The only mental instructions they have is "Kill and infect" on repeat. The humans shown in the Dead Space series are actually going insane(Isaac included) because the marker's "Kill all life" signal is partially being picked up by their brains too.

@@setcheck67 Yes, but he’s slightly inundated to it’s effects thanks to him being chosen to create the first marker for humankind. Which both does and does not help him later down the line.

@@decimation9780 The impression I got from the games is that Isaac is just lucky. In all the situations that he should of died he was outside of the moment so someone else died instead. His hallucinations aren't that the brethren moons want him to build a marker, the moons already can do that. His hallucinations are his mind getting worse and worse as time goes on. That signal constantly driving him more and more insane. By the third game when they killed one of the moons, that severed the mental connection they had with him and actually let him be sane again.

@23:41 In Dead Space: Aftermath Stross was doing experiments on a Marker fragment with it effecting him and when he went back to his room he saw his wife and kid as Necromorphs, killing them and ended up being brought to Titan Station since he was effected by a Marker like Isaac and that's who he's seeing.

Dead Space 1 and 2 are two of my personal favorite videogames ever. I loved exploring the Ishamura and TITAN Station, and the feeling of dread that follows you well, everywhere. I think it would have been fine to use a DLC Flamethrower at the starter, just go with the ruling of not upgrading it at all. That would save up on nodes that could be put into the Suit, Kinesis and Stasis while saving up a few for the Normal Flamethrower.

Nice video, I first played through Dead Space 2 last year and I honestly loved every second of it. I started another run where I coincidentally only tried to use the Flamethrower and the Ripper (the two tools I really didn't like in DS1). Turns out that the Ripper still isn't up my alley, but the Flamethrower OWNS once you get it fully upgraded, massive crowd control and a hugely improved secondary fire. Interesting choice not using the DLC Flamethrower tho, I would have just got it as soon as it was available to me.
