Wooooooow! This is like my favorite interview with Wm Paul Young so far and, like you, I have probably watched every single interview of his that exists on KZbin. His explanation of heaven and hell seriously blew my mind away...thank you so much for this video! It destroyed some barriers that existed between me and God and really brought me so much closer to him

Regarding Hell - Lee O'Hare wrote about hell a while ago: Just in case you did not know, the whole idea of an afterlife of continual and perpetual suffering and burning in fiery flames came from pagan Egyptian, Babylonian and Greek mythology. That can be absolutely proven. It was totally foreign to Hebraic thought. You will find it nowhere in the Old Testament. It snuck into the church in the early centuries of Christianity as the religious institution became polluted and corrupted with the pagan influence of Greek mythology. A lot of people like to say, "Well didn't Jesus talk about hell more than anybody else", to which I respond: Jesus actually NEVER - not one time - EVER spoke about hell. That is a fact! The word was not even invented until 725 AD. He spoke very clearly and specifically about Gehenna, or the Valley of Hinnom, a very real place just outside of the city walls of Jerusalem with a dreaded history where the Jews once sacrificed their children and had them burned alive. Both Jeremiah and Isaiah referred to this place in their prophecies about the fate of the inhabitants of Jerusalem during the destruction of the city in 586 BC when the Babylonians laid waste to Jerusalem and threw hundreds of thousands of dead Jews into that cursed valley where they were burned up and consumed. Jesus was warning the Jewish leaders of the same fate which was going to come upon them within one generation if they did not repent and receive Him as their Messiah. This is, in fact, exactly what happened in 70 AD, as chronicled by Josephus in his work, "The Jewish Wars" when the Roman general Titus laid siege to the city of Jerusalem and massacred almost the entire population and threw the dead bodies of the Jews into that very same valley of Gehenna where they were consumed by fire and eaten by worms. "Hell" is NOT some future mythological place of eternal torment for people who don't accept Jesus. That is a man-made religious myth used to control and manipulate the masses ever since the Dark Ages of Roman Catholicism and has been carried over into Evangelical tradition. It should have been renounced and cast out of the belief system of the church along with the worship of the saints, the infallacy of the papacy, the selling of indulgences and many other pagan practices rejected during the Reformation. Unfortunately Luther, Calvin, Zwingli, et. al, did not go far enough in the 16th century. It is time to finish the work started during the Reformation and purge the Church of the pagan false belief in a place of eternal punishment called "hell".

I agree. In my life forgiveness is the key to knowing God, or even begin to know who God really is. Just like in the story of the man who owed a huge debt and was forgiven and went about dragging people who owed him to prison.

Howard Storm disagrees, and he has been there! He believes in hell, though he states it is a place we chose through familiarity based on how we lived our life.

But what about all the testimonies of hell that I've seen on youtube? These people seem on the level to me. And the descriptions definitely do not seem like God's loving presence.

@@DanielLovett but you never deal with the OT. You say that God is love, and that he isn't mad at us, but what about him striking people dead and ordering the slaughter of men, women and children? How do you reconcile a loving God with that?

@@memymo1310 Isa. 53:10 in the Septugent states, but it pleased the Lord to heal His Servant of His wounds. This was a Hebrew to Greek translation of the OT. by those who were fluent in both languages. In the greek it was the bible used in Jesus's day. The early church Father taught that not everything in the OT was God instructing My way of looking at difficult passages in the OT is if Jesus wouldn't tell you to smash babies against rocks, neither would His Father. One author put it this way," as important as it is that Jesus is like the Father, it is equally true that the Father is exactly like the Son. A good book on this subject is," A more Christlike God, a beautiful gospel," by Brad Jersak.
@memymo13104 жыл бұрын
@@robertmenta8820 You just called into question the validity of the ENTIRE OLD TESTAMENT (and the Bible in full) because it doesn't fit your theology. You are suggesting that God did not tell Joshua to kill all the women' children and animals in the land? That Moses didn't unleash 10 HORRIBLE plagues on a people group when it was Pharoah who called the shots. You really believe that part is made up?? I am blown away. How can you say that? If you call into question that...with no evidence to back this claim up accept that you don't like it...then you must call the entire bible into question. Meaning the claims about Jesus and his divinity and the entire plan of salvation. How do you know what is accurate and true then? I want to explore this further but that kind of answer confuses me. We cannot just throw out portions of the Bible that don't jive with what we think. Isnt that omitting portions of God's character without allowing us to understand why those aspects are recorded down for us? I know I sound passionate...i hope I don't sound angry because I'm not. I am just seeking.

When God says to kill all these people what was he trying to accomplish, but punishment?
@Eijss4 жыл бұрын
Very legitimatie question :) I think this has to do with the paradigm of the days it was written in. In those days everything that happened was ‘ordered by God’. There was no grid for understanding the effect of our sinful choices on things. So king Saul got an evil Spirit that was ‘sent’ by God. Why would God first willingly send an evil spirit and then have his anointed one (David) set Saul free from it again? What we now have when we read scripture is something theologians call progressive insight. Hope this helps!
