God as artist, not as perfectionist or constructionist. Love how this talks leads up to the description of how an artist (in this case a violin maker. 47:00 and onwards) creates and looks upon 'his' creation and experiences the process of creation. Creation works with what material is given, what already is, letting go of the 'prefect' form, letting go of predestined designs, aiming for the creation's unique sound during the process of creation. "It's not the wood that yields to the master, but the master who yields to the wood." God not like a grand engineer, (always disappointed and therefor frustrated and angry with the way things (do not) work out according to his/her plan:)) but God having the heart of an artist, respectfull of creation and what you bring to it, working with you, for you and through you. Thank you Paul, for adding yet another dimension to my understanding and appreciation of God. Almost ready to let go and let God ;)

I am not as well studied in the scriptures as you Paul, and I agree that if God created the universe which includes the earth, that nothing is outside of Him, but what do you do with John 1:9-13? The world did not KNOW Him. They didnt receive Him but those who did He gave the right to become His children. To me this speaks of choice. We all have access and opportunity to know Him, or ignore Him. I think where we get into trouble is what that choice looks like. It seems to me that from the thief on the cross to the woman at the well, it's still a choice and invitation to follow, to know Him, to participate with Him. I have watched your talks, your devotional series, the movie numerous times, and read the book. I graduated from HS in Tillamook, OR and grew up overseas. God has pierced my heart, peeled away layers of hurt, belonging, and lack of trust and challenged my beliefs through your books and your story. I believe that my story of healing is not just for me but to share with others in the flow of life, just as you have so eloquently, courageously, and openly shared yours for the benefit of me and millions of people. Thank you!

The Final Score The trees that grow the wood for musical translation hidden inside trunk and branch are various and varying, their substance long exposed to wind and blight and weather's wild vicissitudes, the warp and woof of ingrained particles composing gradual shape and form one day yielding unheard sounds unknown in woods and fields and arbors whispering sweet notes fed by themes long rooted within composing minds, winds of transformation molding forest shapes into future harps and flutes, piano barques and rounded drums, stringed vessels hiding notes to heal or wound the soul attuned to what is played or left unsung. mHmc 1 3 24 noonish

I don’t know how you can say that God hates sacrifice. He shed the blood of animals to give Adam and Eve clothes. Abel brought a sacrifice of animals to God which was pleasing to Him. Noah sacrificed animals when he came out of the ark. All this is well before Abraham’s time. Then ultimately Jesus was the sacrificial lamb for our sins. In my own life, spiritual growth has always come out of obedient sacrifice in response to God’s love. The sacrifice God hates is the sacrifice made in the attempt to buy God or try to appease Him.

Actually, the clothing he gave Adam/Eve was never mentioned having come through sacrifice/killing anything...that is just a popular assumption...it could have been wool or other fibers for all we know.

God loved the intention of their hearts. Those people lived in a time where sacrifices were an act of adoration. God did not want sacrifice, but the beauty of the intentions of their hearts is what God loved. I.E., why Cain's sacrifice was not worthy.
