This is a masterpiece!! Hua Chenyu share with us the feelings of loneliness, self conflict, depress, struggles and how's one want to rescue himself, he want us to pay attention for those around you that is going through the situation, they need care, love and attention, he is using his way to create public awareness. He doesn't come to the Singer 2018 to win, but come to tell us a series of story. This is a original rock song very famous early 2000 by Cui Jian, he feels resonant with the lyrics and rearrange the whole song to another different dimension. Hua Chenyu is a genius in expressing emotions through music.

It's just the 2nd song you watched this dark, deep and artistic song! I'm glad you appreciate it! This song links a lot with his lonely childhood, he explained in the pre-stage interview, I believe there's a subbed clip available on YTB. The brief idea is, his parents divorced when he was 2, his father was too busy to take care of him, most of the time he was ignored. Thus he eager to be loved by others, at the same time he afraid of it, afraid being harmed once he close to other people. The song kind expressed the same idea of this inner conflict. This song is a cover, but he rearranged it, only kept the parts have lyrics in the same melody, deleted all the instrument, played the piano himself instead, wrote those no lyrics melodies. Finally it turned into a theatrical type, a bit experimental song.

I haven't seen any recent reactions to Hua...I'd love to see more. I only found him about a month ago and it's easy to say I'm obsessed. You should definitely see his arrangement of Nanping Evening Bell, which he did in only 24 hours on a show called The Next - he was challenged to create something new in one day to compete against amateur singers - the original is a simple Chinese folk song and that performance is in the semi-finals with one of the finalist challengers against another challenger and professional singer team. It's a must-see. Another one is is performance of Seven Personalities - there are several videos of the song, but my favorite is from the NYE Gala 2020 (it's actually NYE 2019). It's incredible. There are several other great performances I don't see on your channel...hope to see more if you have time!

Hua is really amazing. One performance of his was especially emotional. Its the song "Dad I'm home" but you absolutely need subtitles for it. You should definitely check it out. A different request that I have, is a S.Korean crossover group, named Forestella. I was really blown away by their cover of Bohemian Rhapsody that went kinda viral (through reactors on YT) a few months back. But they have so many amazing pieces, both covers and original music that are really exceptional. I would love to see you guys react to them. They are really unique!

Guys... when I saw you were reacting to this I was so excited. I, in fact, recommended this song to you as the next you should listen to from Hua. My sole recommendation: be sure to listen to it with closed captions. I even impressed on you that it was a very slowly paced song so you could read the captions easily while enjoying the performance. So... go back and listen to it in your own time, and it will all make sense. Amongst other things, you will discover (as I also mentioned in your last Hua reaction) that Hua was singing this performance piece, beginning to end, whilst taking the persona of the Fake Monk. The words to the song brilliantly delineate the depth and flavor of this fake monk's madness. Sorry to say, you missed out on a great opportunity for a much richer reaction.

Great reaction. He wrote this in his early days when he was very troubled. He auditioned for Superboy and one of the judges thought he was nuts, but Laura Shang saw his genious and said she could relate. He went on to win the competition! Hua was diagnosed with Autism at age three... to see his progress from that audition until today is astounding, not in terms of talent, rather in terms of him coming out of his shell. I think he’s 29 or 30. I absolutely love him. Best channel out there is Hua Chenyu English Subs. Look how he holds us all captive at 7:19 none of us dared to even breath to see what he’d do next! Some other great songs Heaven, My Skate Shoes, Bullfighter... hell all of them! 🙂

Hua Hua is a musical genious. He exploded on the global music stage on the Singer 2018...but before Singer he was already an elite musician in China. He is a composer of modern day symphonies in mind-bending genres. His stage performances are emotional, explosive and charismatic, but in private he is shy and introverted. Hua is a genius. I rank him right up there with Dimash. His creatively is unsurpassed. And he immerses himself in them when he plays. I always find it funny, because he gets done with a song, he usually lets out a cute little humble smile in the end. Oh, as for lyrics. If you can, always, always get lyrics if you can. Because even when he covers a song, he chooses lyrics that are very deep. Without them, you get the general tone, but you'll be more informed if you can read lyrics. Great reaction, guys! Hua Chenyu is truly phenomenal. He is right next to Dimash at the top of my list of favorite singers. They are very different, but both are incredible. The Baby Bamboo has English subs for most of Hua Hua's songs. I recommend his 'Heaven', 'Dear Friend', 'Glimmer', and 'I Am What I Am'. His duet with Su Shiding of 'Nanping Evening Bells' is also great.

Hua Chenyu is an amazing, risk-taking performer with a diverse and impressive voice. This song was rearranged by him and he is expressing how he felt in his childhood and teen years. He never ceases to amaze me, this is truly a dark, but amazing performance. Having everyone in the audience stand up anticipation at the end is not something many can do. Hua did a duet called "Idiot" , it is a metaphor of George Orwell's book 1984 about a "Big Brother is Watching you" society where they know everything. He is the mentor for his duet partner and rewrote a potion of the song as a backup singer. Have been waiting 4 u 2 watch this. Crazy good.... Watch “dad I’m home””. U need 2 get it w/eng subs though otherwise u miss the meaning. Bring Kleenex. So very sad. He had 24 hrs 2 redo a song (he was in a diff competition) and he just wanted to show people that there r so many diff ways to make. a song your own etc. It’s not his experience he is singing about, even though he did have a very lonely childhood. His parents split when he was. VERY young...his dad worked away fr home a lot and left him in the care of sitters/etc. He went thru a lot of them. His dad NEVER EVER gave him praise, encouragement, ANYTHING which made him very introverted and left him w/a lot of deep troubling thoughts....good thing he took 2 music and not crime. He was in SUPERBOY in 2013 which he won. (Another singing competition). He was 23 and it was ONLY then that his father praised him and told him he was proud. He asked his dad at one point why he raised him the way he did and his dad told him he wanted him 2 b able 2 make it in this world w/out having to rely on other people for praise etc,..he thought it wud make him a stronger person. Which it did 100%. He and his father have a great relationship now...His dad eventually remarried and they had a girl, which is a LOT younger than Hua. It was only then that Hua was able to have a long awaited childhood when he experienced his dad being a FATHER to his sister...in no way did he resent his sister or was jealous of her. He looked at it as his own missed childhood and saw it as an opportunity to have his childhood but thru his sisters eyes. He is very child like in a lot of way...he has a simplistic honesty which endears people to him. But he also has a strong resolve...he will NOT comprise AT ALL when it comes to his music. Listen to his duets w/women. Here’s a few. NAPING EVENING BELL. W/Su Shiding. ILIGHT YEARS AWAY W/GEM. THE STAR W/Laura Shang (she mentored him in the SUPERBOY and Dimashi invited her to do a duet w/him in “I am a singer”. At the end of “I am a singer” each contestant left invites someone to sing w/them. Dimashi chose her. Rumour has it that he signed a contract w/her after that competition. Laura has her own business. Or a co-owner). IDIOT W/Lu Ma. PERHAPS LOVE W/ Juno. These duets r a MUST. Will give u full on goosebumps fr head-toe. Giant Deer is a great song as is Ashes Fr Fireworks. If U don’t do reactions, watch on your own time. Unwilling not b let down. I think this song cost him the competition. The Chinese r very deeply rooted in their culture and change is slow to come. He has a LOT of people who really dislike him. He is not ‘traditional’ he copies the rappers etc etc. This mainly is fr the older critics. After he won the Suoerboy his fans were VERY loyal to him...kept on getting the word out for him and now he has huge fan base, exp w/the younger generation. I have watched tons of his vids and he will b the first 2 admit that he has his haters. When he stared in “I am a singer” it really boosted his fan base. I was just quoting him and I have seen quite a few vids of older artists stating that he is not popular w/a lge portion of the people in China.... plus the factor of China’s population being almost 1.5 billion (that’s insane lol). Fake Monk was a song by Cui Jian, the original version was released in 2003. In uniqueness, he is right there with Dimash. He is my second favorite performer. He is very wise for such a young man. Look up the background history of this song, you will be impressed. He said this was difficult to perform and took him back to a lot of sad memories of being alone when he was a child. This song is about depression and insanity. He wants to be loved but doesn’t want to feel loss, he wants everyone to notice him but he also wants to hide in the shadows. He literally goes crazy to show how depression and loneliness take you to a place of insanity. His emotions show you that without the subtitles but you’d get it more with the subs to understand why he’s acting in such a way.

Huahua's assigned song was actually a period drama "The Monkey King" main theme with no lyrics.
