I got one where the starting island was connected to 2 other islands with the grass thingy and the box also the potato and right up from that was the wooden platform thingy,( btw this was 1 year ago thats why I forgot the names), fastest escape ice ever done lol,(why do I get mad luck with wicker bottom?).

14:45 Warbucks casually giving a prime ape 10 dubloons (3.33 gold or 10 slot machine pulls) to just go away is a brilliant moment of roleplay, especially after such a blessed start. All you were really missing at this point was a collection of tar, coffee, and and obsidian, in terms of abundant luxury goods. That and to build a manor of a base in Reign of Giants with an exotic zoo of creatures and structures from Shipwrecked and Hamlet. With the brain of thought, it's possible to even build your own hamlet by the manor.

Let me tell you about the way that I have been playing Don't Starve which is the way I framed the game and set it down once I was done. I was playing for years since it was a single player game and I had been through most of the original and extended content. One thing that hit me as a philosophical nudge was that, the game, each game, is a progressive timeline that follows the same: total population -> total inexistence. Even important things like gold have a way of teasing you into taking shortcuts into destroying the environment. I wanted to win the game in a unique perfect way. What I have been doing is playing in a way that everything I do and everything I get was in a way that if I was never sighted, no one would ever know I was there. It means that the only gold you can get are trades from the pig king. It means no killing clockworks, no going downstairs

Island hop as much as you can in the early game grabbing up as much stuff as possible. I got EXTREMELY lucky here but the first task is always the same, find gold. Do so, make a science machine, make a shovel and backpack, works towards an alchemy, use an alchemy to make a better boat ASAP and then find your base.

This is probably a super lame question, but how do you play hamlet and shipwrecked? I mean.. how do you access it and switch back and forth? Are they separate games?

They are separate DLCs to Don't Starve, yes. When you have both you can link them in world generation and doing so will allow you to make something called a, Skyworthy, that will allow for you to jump between Shipwrecked, Hamlet and Reign of Giants all in one save.
