Just a side note though, you didn't mention the unique mecanic of "borrowing" a bird, taking it to a journey to see the fires within the volcano, just to murder it there, where its considered the only one alive in the word, and instantly summoning krampus, even though you got a lot of its friends back in your island. I confess that I don't know if this is patched or something, but if its a real thing yet, its valid to mention. Thanks again, and keep up!

The doydoy nest is usefull for keeping the eggs always fresh, if they are spoiling and you put them in the nest then you can gather them as fresh eggs!

Fun fact - in Cantonese, the word "yes" can be translated as 對, which in chinese is pronounced "dui", but in Cantonese, is pronounced "Doy". When traveling in Hong Kong, you will often encounter groups of schoolgirls on busses and the light rail MTR. They will be telling each other short stories and a common response is "doydoy". Sometimes, they will say something like "yes yes yes yes yes....", "Doy Doy Doy Doy Doy". On a crowded bus, it can sound quite funny as all you can hear around you is a constant stream of excited "doydoy", laughter and more "doydoy". It's really quite funny to hear. Like a bunch of flubber bouncy balls, bouncing all over the place.

I started a new save and the doydoy islands were so close the only thing separating was a 1 tile wide water channel. Unfortunately there was snake bushes everywhere so I had to move them fast

It should be mentioned that the shards count separately, so if you take 1 of 20 doydoys into the volcano and kill it you can instantly spawn krampus for easy farming Also doydoys solve dry season by themselves. If you’re at the point where ou can farm them for food, use the feathers for a fan to stop overheating and they’re decent for giving to the volcano too

I haven’t tested this but I read on the wiki that spiders don’t actually attack doydoys. (Note, i cant say for sure if it was they don’t come out like they would for other creatures of if they completely ignore them.) I wouldn’t recommend placing them near spiders as for me they’ve always been near snakes or tall birds, but that is an option for Webber mains.

Good video... although there are two important points I was hoping to see. One would be to transport some of your doydoys to other worlds, even caves if you wish. This would be a good failsafe in case something happens to the original herd. And the secound point would be Krampus farming, again, taking two doydoys to another world and instead of breeding them there you just kill them for quick Krampus spawns. Not as effective as relogging with Glommer, but definitely feels less exploitative.

I know there are many advanced players out there that always tend to tell me what I forgot or didn't show but once more I tell you that I choose to show and tell what I show and tell for very specific reasons. An overarching narrative that runs through this channel is that I do not aim to "ruin" the player experience by literally spelling out everything on a page for others to copy-and-paste into their gameplay but instead provide superficial - and sometimes beyond - levels of knowledge for these individuals to learn, try, learn more THEMSELVES and repeat. To me, not only would putting everything in every video ever be a chore and come across as additive bore, but that isn't entertaining. I haven't really said this publicly yet but I don't make these guides for the sake of just guides, I set out to make compelling, entertaining (or at least attempt to) and worthwhile videos for entertainments sake. If I wanted to just make guides for information purposes I could get out 2-3 videos a day just running through bullet points. Now, the argument may stem from these games being older and said information being known but that is just a sense of halfway selfish-entitlement talking. The DS/DST is SO bad at welcoming new comers and I have here to put an end to that and trust me, the older and "wiser" players and content creators don't like that or me because of it. All this to say, my videos are for getting a few chuckles and grins from folk while still helping new players to a degree that doesn't overwhelm them and ruin their natural experience.

My first time playing, i got a set peice that gave me 5 obsidian. I made the mistake of camping on the doydoy island, when i came back it ate my obsidian and my volcano staff :)

Can they eat their own feathers? Maybe in the early stages of life? Because I saw a feather on the ground one day, didn't know if one of them died for no reason (now I know it's by chance when breeding), but when I went back to get it it disappeared. The best use for feathers gotta be giving them to the altar of snackrifice, I survived by giving tallbird eggs before but the feathers are worth double the appeasement and can stack.

No, the video was clear, that's why I suggested maybe in early stages. My confusion comes from just my experience of a feather simply vanishing from the ground, more than once. My doydoys are surrounded by stone walls and sandbags, I don't think wind could get the loot away, so I thought it was pretty weird. One of the stone walls was slightly damaged, too, even though there's nothing aggressive around. Thanks for the reply Beard!

I found a doydoy island but can't find the bird, it's a very hostile island so I assume the guy got killed before I got there and some monkeys probably stole his loot, so now there's no trace of him and the doydoy species is doomed...

May I ask you guys that when the first dd egg of the dd couple has turned into the baby dd, then the baby completely grow up to the adult one, will a single dd automatically match with 1 of 2 other dds to create another dd egg? You can spawn crambus instantly, by taking only 2 doydoys to volcano and by murdering them. Your naughtiness will instantly be 50, even though you have many doydoys in outside world. Also doydoy feather can be used for the appeasement at the alter of snackrifice at volkano. It is a pretty good offering coming upon tier 2 which delays next eruption for approximately 2 day. :-)

@@LunaWitcher I've still yet to make it past monsoon season. I never have time to prepare, and everything gets flooded, and my sanity drops uncontrollably. I got 3 months in with the surfer girl and just gave up after trying to kill the monkeys on my island, dying and wasting the touch stone then stuck on a wet island. Lately been playing RoG as Wigfrid (?) ... The meat eating viking lady. Its actually the easiest game ive had so far, defeated the moosegoose which tbf ive never beaten a boss before, I tend to run away. But now its summer and i'm stuck at 2 endothermic fire pits i've made in my base, with Nitre way too far away to go dig some without overheating before I get near. So at the moment my plan is to sit in base for a month. I can do it, I have made my base on top of a large Tallbird Nesting ground. Constant food supply. Its just boring not being able to go out and explore

@@liamwalton4183 My policy for venom is "attack the mosquitos before they attack you". Can backfire, but Ctrl+F usually does the job. The rest I just... Avoid. No swamp at dusk or night, and the helmet made from the Water Beefalo's horn (tusk?) gets the job done most of the times as well.

As long as the nests have an egg the egg will hatch and the baby will grow but ALWAYS leave TWO alive at any given time.

Here is a super krampus farm get 4 doy doy nests with eggs and 4 doy doys then kill 2-3 doy doys to spawn krampus kill krampus then kill the last doy doy then kill krampus then let all four eggs hatch and mature then the scycle reapeats! Nifty huh?
