Wow, so the vertex is hidden within the quadratic formula. The vertex plus or minus the discriminant/2a. And since the result is a zero, what does this mean? What is the discriminant/2a? Is that a distance between 0 and the vertex? In your example, you end up with vertex minus 5 (which equals x=-4)... and vertex plus 5 (which is x=6). That is wild. I never thought about it that way before. I'm curious what that right side of the QF means.
