I love how his inner coat isn't going punk like his rooster tails, what a cute fluff, from behind a lens. Thanks very much as always :)

Rooster is cute in a shaggy way! They do look different from bears in the rest of the country.
@TheBearGuyCanada4 ай бұрын
I heard they have ties to a Europen cave bear. This is what I was told, that DNA was done on one, but I haven't researched it more. They are the only population of black bears that live completely above the treeline, and are barren land bears.

From his perspective he would have been very curious as he had never seen a person before, sign of high intelligence. Marvelous animals due to having excellent boundaries they make great neighbors, I see regular ones in "our," mutual neighborhood in the hills around Port Moody, they circle away to avoid walking on the same trail or road, to respect people or other bears space, they are really straightforward to co-exist with people must also apply respectful boundaries, don't leave out food attractants like leaving cake in front of a child they can't resist it walk away to give each other space ect..

Is this breed of bear very aggressive? They are a beautiful bear❤

From what I have seen so far, I'd say no. But like any bear I am sure it could be if there was a food reward or defensive situation.

Yes but these bears of labrador are a little different as well. There are subtle differences from a typical bear.

Thank you for posting this, Ryan. Are barren land black bears more food aggressive than forest black bears due to the relative scarcity of food?

That he is assessing whether you are food or foe totally makes sense to me. But why would the thought that you might be a "friend" ever cross his mind? Is there any living being at all that a full-grown male bear would consider as potentially a "friend"? Juveniles might occasionally seek safety in numbers to protect themselves from older, bigger, dominant bears, but not a fully grown male, right? That he might consider mating with your truck or with whatever might be inside wouldn't make sense to me either. Isn't the likely third option besides "food" or "foe" that might actually cross his mind as a potential solution to this mystery "irrelevant" rather than "friend"? And isn't that option the one you are aiming to gently reinforce: "Look, i'm irrelevant to you and mildly annoying, so no point for you to hang out here!" I'm not trying to slander or demonize bears by saying that full-grown male bears generally neither have nor want nor need friends - but isn't it part of the respect one should show for wildlife to avoid humanizing them, in this case by projecting the human desire and need for "friends" onto them? (Besides, "BLBB #2" would have worked just fine for me, assigning a name to a bear also feels slightly humanizing to me, in particular when it's as cool and cuddly as "rooster". It's a free, wild animal, not a pet, isn't it?)

@@IngoSchwarze , think you are reading too much into it. It is meant to say the bear is determining if it can share the same space as me, or if I am an immediate threat to its safety. Never meant as I would be a buddy or pal with this bear. Kind of like it being alright with the fox onsite, no animosity between the two, both in close approximately of each other, so habituated to each other and in their mind….no issue or conflict to have. They are not buddies but they are not enemies either.
@IngoSchwarze4 ай бұрын
@@TheBearGuyCanada Thanks for clarifying, now it makes perfect sense to me: If "friend" is merely intended as "can tolerate each other / no threat / no conflct", then i agree it feels like one typical way a bear might decide to behave.
