THE BEAT by Allen Parr - I dated a guy years ago from my church; it didn't work out, which to my surprise, I also gained enemies mainly from the single ladies because I wouldn't just quickly decide to go into marriage; in order words, they thought that I wasted their turn" or something, but what they didn't know is that, I was being emotionally abused by my ex who seemed quite "elegant, he was tall, nice car, ladies wanted him, especially the older woman. Lol! I remained quietly about the real issue; I was hated, but the singles didn't know I was suffering inside. The real person who knew I wasn't happy was a best friend and my Pastor. ** I didn't listen to that "discerning" in the Spirit when I first saw the guy at my church! I discerned alcoholism and depression, after we dated, I saw adultery. The alcoholism discernment I saw came to pass, 1 day he sat next to me with a hangover; 2 spirit of adultery also came true, he was UNFAITHFUL, 3, He confessed his severe depression. I have prayed and really expect NOT to meet my "future husband," in a chuch. Not everyone in the house of God wants the best for you! Per your video, I want COURTSHIP! but if all possible, I wish thiscan remain private as much as possible until marriage. I believe my Testimony can help other ladies. **Ladies, never, never ignore DISCERNMENT no matter how long the wait!!

Also, I'm willing to go on dates if asked by a Christian man, but I'm not dating just for the fun of it. Make the intentions clear. If it's obvious that a long-term relationship/future marriage with this person isn't going to happen, then I'm not gonna just keep dating someone recreationally.

Best most succinct and clear compare and contrast I've seen between dating and courtship. In my humble opinion, teaching this to EVERY young person growing up today is THE most important message to teach to counteract the evil of indiscriminate sex amongst young people. Loose sex destroys lives more than any other social ill in our world today. It destroys families and the peace of the soul.

Oh my! I dated a non-Christian guy who admired and respected me and my Christian beliefs. In my head, I mixed up dating and courting and we had kind of a mixture of them in our relationship. The video really made it clear to me how he saw the relationship more as dating me, with no clear intentions while I saw it more as a courtship. That's what made it so hard for both of us. Cause I was submissive and didn't want to break it up, praying for his salvation the whole time.. (I knew I wasn't supposed to be in that relationship, but I gave in to the temptation over time :() I really hope God will use my story to His triumph one day. But atm I just need to be healed from this pain of not listening to His voice. It saddens me so much. It seems as if I waisted these months and hurt God, myself, this person and everyone who got fond of me (his family and friends).

Your not alone and he understands.. We got to learn.. But dont hide away you just have to pay attention to what their ideas are and pay attention to their actions.. You can see their intentions. It doesn't matter if they're in a church or not it matters if they love the Lord or not. And if they're mature enough to take a relationship serious. Cuz there can be immature men even in the church. Basically you got to ask for God to bring you your match. And keep your standards High. If that other person doesn't believe the same way you believe drop them. Because they cannot change right there and then. If they don't understand what courting is. They dont have no business dating lol

Great video man. I wish I would have understood the difference between dating and courtship and the seriousness when I was a teen. You are spot on. Most of my past relationships were mostly all about me getting what I can out of them like sex, hanging out and not being alone. Occasionally I'd talk about marriage but come on be honest how serious is marriage at 13 to 17? I wasn't concerned about baggage from break ups and hurting others. It took giving my life to Jesus and meeting my wife to truly see the difference between dating and courtship and having a God honoring relationship with a woman. Thanks for the video and Jesus bless

THE BEAT by Allen Parr yeah man and another thing I forgot to mention was honesty. That was a big difference in my past dating relationships and my wife and I relationship. I was never honest with anybody in the past. I played myself up like such a great guy but in reality I was the biggest womanizer and perverted guy you'd ever know. But I didn't want them to know otherwise they'd want nothing to do with me. While I did hide who I was for awhile eventually I shared my struggles and God delivered me and my wife and I are doing great . honesty makes a world of difference in a relationship and while the truth my not always be pretty it can save heartache and make you trustworthy in the end

I was in a relationship with a girl that could be described, in practice, as somewhere between dating and courting. We were both routinely Alone Together, but we never had sex with one another. We did kiss quite a bit though. And before we ever engaged in any sort of recreational activities, like going to the movies, I always insisted that she get her school work done first and any other life activities that needed to be done first. What I brought into the relationship was the desire that even if it did not work out I at least did not leave her in a worse situation then what we were in prior to the beginning of the relationship. The reasoning behind our type of relationship was out of practicality though because neither of us had any religious beliefs. We went our separate ways but we left on good terms. Last I heard she was doing well in her educational career and was on her path to graduate and get a good job. Am I a little disappointed the relationship didn't work out? Yes. But I am glad we are both still in a better place than what we were prior to the relationship. Sorry for the long comment.

I think it is important when we are in friendships with the opposite gender to guard our hearts. I was recently friends with someone who indicated that he liked me and I was really praying about it, but suddenly he just got into a relationship with another girl. He really hurt me. I pray and ask that all brothers in Christ would be careful with how they treat their sisters--caring for their hearts and not leading them into false hope (if they aren't interested in a relationship). I know sisters in Christ should do the same but men are the pursuers in this area.

God tells us not to be silly or foolish. Being wise and atune to what is in order. Everyone is not healthy no matter how kind and sweet they present. They must prove worthy of your time, and attention and of course your feelings. I use to think just because a man told me he liked me he was capable of relationship and had the readiness I desired to be taken serious..... Nothing could be more gullible. There is an order verification process that must be completed along with him being consistent before you hand over your trust feelings and love to anyone. You are kind cause you are kind but you know your value and there is a price for your time feelings and prescence. Be glad he moved on you will remember this for the next time- let suitors court you first before you believe. Otherwise its just pretty words... This is stupid. Don't listen to this. The heartache is far worse if you get this courtship garbage imposed on you. Worse yet, you will end up in perpetual singlehood if you adopt courtship. Courtship is essentially a way to block you off from marriage, and if you believe it is "God's will" too, you will end up with outright contempt for God. I think before you do either it's really important for both parties to really get to know each other and establish a strong relationship before they get comitted on that next step. Thank you for this very enlightening video. I was new at dating. I gave it try and unfortunately had my first lesson. Some men are very crafty and manipulating. They care nothing about gaining your trust and walking away. The only problem is courtship requires patience and being able to openly communicate. Most men do not have either of the two. Unfortunately, they are use to having their way with women. However, this video is on point. Courtship is certainly better than dating.

This is so true and what happened between me and my soon-to-be fiancé. Last spring, she gave me a letter stating how she felt toward me and we soon started "dating" throughout the summer. I was hesitant at first because of my relationship with her ex and that time was one of confusion and a little bit of hurt between us. Eventually, I knew I wanted her and I asked her to be my girlfriend and that's when we officially started "courting".
