So many professing Christians read and listen to these teachings and promote them to others. I don't know how many times she has been recommended to me and I just politely say I disagree with her on a lot of things. I think Joyce by & large is trying to teach Christians how to live biblically. Yes, there are things she is off on. However, if we are mature Christians, we can listen & be encouraged by the biblical things she does teach in a very unique way with the gift God has given her & with her life experience. The unbiblical parts we can say, no that isn't right. My sister who is a new Christian likes to listen to Joyce for basic teaching on how to live as Jesus wants us to with very basic biblical principles. I listen as well & as a mature believer, I can share with my sister where Joyce is a bit off on some things. Eat the meat, spit out the bones & don't throw the baby out with the bath water. Discernment in all things so that we can help those around us new to the faith w/out discouraging them as they begin their walk with Jesus.

God and his sovereignty revealed to us his inspired word therefore whatever his word declares is in agreement with his Sovereign will for our lives so the key is to properly interpret scripture in its context understand its meaning and then we can apply sound biblical principles from those passages to our lives. One rule of hermeneutics is that there is one interpretation but many possible applications to each Passage Therefore as long as a sound biblical principle is applied in an affirmation or what I would call a biblical confession or faith Declaration then there is no problem to it... it's actually a good thing and can be part of renewing our minds to the Word of God...aligning ourselves to God's will...taking captive every thought to Christ...building and releasing our faith in agreement with scripture.

That all being said we need to use wisdom and discernment with ANYONE preaching the Word! We are all human and foulable, no matter how hard we try we still miss the mark and we need to even back up what our favorite pastor, Bible teacher, Sunday school teacher, etc...with the word of God. Jer 29:11 is a perfect example of how many do not fully read the context of scripture. They pull out a pretty verse not reading what it says before and after. Those who listen to false teachers and false prophets over the word of God/Holy Spirit over time prove they don’t love God but their lives in this world more. “If a prophet or dreamer of dreams arises among you and proclaims a sign or wonder to you, and if the sign or wonder he has spoken to you comes about, but he says, “Let us follow other gods (which you have not known) and let us worship them,” you must not listen to the words of that prophet or dreamer. I grew up in a Baptist Church and no, we did not do affirmations like this. But I do remember, being in my late twenties, and learning for the first time that we're supposed to read the Bible in context. This was a revelation to me, I never knew this before. Before I literally thought that I could read a Bible verse and it applied to me. Now I know better and I ask myself some questions before I attempt to use a Bible verse for my own well-being. The main place that I draw Bible verses from to apply to my own life are the Psalms, because I believe they are prayers written for every Christian. I also applied the words of Jesus in the New Testament of course. I also try to apply the wisdom of the Old Testament. The verses there may not be speaking about me, but we can learn a lot of wisdom and about our heritage from those verses
@robfriedrich2822 Жыл бұрын
But most of the bible verses apply to you. You try to prevent disappointment the human way and so your mindset is closer to an orphan, than a beloved child. It's pretty easy, when someone has the answer, so you can deal with the fact, that some miracles doesn't become visible. It's challenging, when God says "I want you healthy, powerful, not poor" and the circumstances communicates the opposite.
@l.a.w.79 Жыл бұрын
@somethinggood so good! I became a Christian knowing right away that scripture was written to an audience for that specific point in time and that principles could be applied today. However, it took a lot of time to learn the context and audience for different books especially in the OT. I think that is so important to be in a biblically sound church. And get in a good Bible class. So many ppl rd the Bible like it is a wishful book rather than a true record of God’s overall plan for redemption. Only then could I see the principles and get excited about what God had in mind for all of mankind.

I know God can heal me if and or when He chooses but if not then I've learned to be content with very little and do my best to do things. Over the last 3yrs since I got away from that previous community I've had more and more that people notice that even though I battle with my disabilities they see something different in me and ask me why and how I'm able to deal with things when (in their own words) they've got less to battle than me. God has opened up opportunities to share my faith and the Gospel with the hurting, hopeless and lost. I pray to be able to continue to be faithful til the end and plant seeds and hopefully be able to lead others to Christ.

I remind myself that I can do all things, through Christ who strengthens me. The rain will come, I will experience hurt, and loss. But through Christ my weakness is made strength, and knowing that has gotten me through some of the hardest times in my life.

Please explain the context of Mark 16:16-18. It seems clear to me these are the signs that will accompany us who believe. I don’t see any other context, but maybe I’m missing something.

❤Romans 4:17b KNV: God, who quickeneth the dead, and calleth those things which be not as though they were. I hear this Scripture quoted and confessed as if they can call those things that are not as though they were. God is the only one who can call those things that are not as though they were. But I will continue to pray for Joyce Meyers to teach the Word of God in truth. God is using her to reach thousands of people.

Allen - you are right on the money on this one. It truly breaks my heart to hear Christians say how much they love the teachings of Joyce Meyer and Joel Osteen. I do not believe that people who actually read the Bible and study it for themselves can follow these teachers. You are correct - discernment is the key and that comes from reading the Word, studying it, and growing in your walk with the Lord. Thank you for all you do, Allen - it is a privilege to support your ministry.

Nkiruka, If You're a Christian and belong to a Church, do they Read and Quote Scripture, do the Congregation Have, and Read Their Bibles Along With The Pastor? Do they have Bible Study, to Help You Understand God's Word? Do They Pray For Others, Support each other, Pray for themselves at home, for What they Need Spiritually, as well as For God's Provision? Do they Worship God Together, Give Him Thanks and Praise? If Not, it's Not a Church. Self Promotion is Not of God. Self seeking Is Not of God. Jesus Came to Save us, to Serve God His Heavenly Father First, and Serve man, our Fellowman, Humankind. He Took on the Role of Servant, Which is what we are, if we are Christians.

Can i ask you a question? If Isaiah 53 is not about physical healing, then what is Matthew referring to in Matthew 8 "That evening they brought to him many who were oppressed by demons, and he cast out the spirits with a word and HEALED ALL WHO WERE SICK. THIS WAS TO FULFILL WHAT WAS SPOKEN BY THE PROPHET ISAIAH: “HE TOOK OUR ILLNESSES AND BORE OUR DISEASES.” Matthew 8:16-17

Thank you, Allen, for your ministry! I've seen a lot of people hurt by these affirmations in the WofF churches we used to attend, specificaIly the healing affirmations. They trust in these confessions and don't face reality and a lot of times end up dying because they refused medical treatment. Right off the bat I can think of two friends who died because they refused medical treatment while trusting in their affirmations.

I love Joyce Meyer daily devotion. Each time when I am down with an anger issue on that day, her devotion will pop up talking about anger. When i am having issue to forgive my boss, her devotion for that day will talk about the same problem i am facing. I never recite her affirmation but each time when i have an issue her devotion pop up and i believe God speaks to me through her devotion.

One that I often remind myself of is when Paul says that God makes all things work together for the good of those who love him, for those who are called according to His purpose. It gives me hope that even hard times or bad things will benefit me because of how good God is and that he will sustain us through anything, even if none of it makes sense to us.

I followed Joyce Meyer twenty years ago, and her teaching helped me with some basic "get your life together", but it also damaged my relationship with God to affirm things that was not a reality in my life. It was wishful thinking and denied me the opportunity to tackle those things. In the end I became shameful and hopeless because God didn't turn the bad situation around for me. Thankfully I have a very deep love for Jesus, and have turned around. Now I am tackling the hard things in my life and have turned back to God, realising He was there all the time, I just didn't want to accept the solutions He was pointing me to.

Thanks so much for this video and pointing out these particulars, Allen. I discovered in my church's library a small section of Joyce Meyer's books and that concerned me. Now I have a concise tool to share with the librarian, so if she will consider removing these books.
