That's St. Louis Missouri with the Arch and home to St. Louis Cardinals MLB team. Sadly the NFL team left for Arizona in either the late 80s or early 90s. The Island you queried about is the infamous Alcatraz Prison Island in the San Francisco Bay!!! I believe his hiking was in Boise Idaho.

There is only one arch like that in the US. It is in St. Louis, Missouri and is known as the Gateway Arch because almost all exploration west of the Mississippi River (which it is located next to) went through Missouri, making the state/territory itself a gateway to the west. There is even a museum underneath the arch about westward expansion and the role Missouri played.

The video with the arch, The Arch is in St.Louis Missouri. The arch is also known as The Gateway to the West. St. Louis is also within driving distance of Hannaibal, Missouri. Hannaibal is the hometown of Mark Twain, and his boyhood house is rhere. He used Hannibal as the setting for Tom Sawyer Becky and Huckleberry Finn, The building on the small island is Alcatraz, In the San Francisco Bay. I don't know much about it. I've only seen it when we walked across the Golden Gate bridge.

Just to throw this out there though ... yes, Canada gave us Nickelback, but they also gave us Ryan Reynolds - who was the perfect person to play Deadpool, IMO. To each their own, however, when it comes to their take on Nickelback and Ryan Reynolds. Everyone is entitled to their opinion and taste. Also, as many others have mentioned, the island that was depicted in Laurence's video was Alcatraz - one of the most notorious prisons in America. Maybe @The Beesleys could do a reaction video sometime on Alcatraz - especially the inmates who escaped.

Previous posters have identified Alcatraz Penitentiary. I highly recommend touring the prison. It is amazing but tickets should be purchased months in advance. A better deal is also purchasing tickets to Angel Island as a package deal. It is also an amazing tour.

On the Cardinals comment at 7:15, and it's not an angry comment, but more informative....... The Cardinals shown are in St Louis, the baseball team. The arch is unique to St Louis, Missouri. The Cardinals football team started in Chicago. Then, confusingly, to St Louis. Then moved to Phoenix, Arizona as the "Phoenix Cardinals". They renamed a few years ago to "Arizona Cardinals". All while keeping the helmet design, and logo. Imagine the confusion when asking "where do the St Louis Cardinals play?" When there's 2 St Louis Cardinals in the same city, at the same time.

Many American kids are taught of Independence Day being called "The 4th of July" without realizing that it means the same as July 4th. They think of it as a proper name for the day, like Memorial Day, Labor Day. Later in life they realize it's the 4th day of the month of July.

5:58 That is no where you want to be unless it is a tour. That is Alcatraz Island & the infamous federal prison (closed down in the 60's). However it is in San Francisco bay & that is really nice. Just to the left of the prison (in the distance) is Golden Gate bridge. 7:03 The Cardinals you see is for the baseball team that is St Louis. Why should you know that? LOL!! It was confusing enough when both Cardinal teams were in St Louis. After the football team did move to Arizona it became much less confusing. I doubt anyone will think you should know all that.

I just earlier today watched your reaction videos for the best 25 U.S. National Parks. I wanted to point out that the Gateway Arch, aka the St. Louis Arch, is on land that constitutes both the smallest national park and the only national park located in an urban environment. It's worth a stop to see, especially since it is probably the easiest national park to get to see. Your could probably fly into St. Louis on an early morning flight, go to the national park and then catch a flight that evening to another state to see another park. There are probably only three others parks located within a relatively short drive from a "major" urban center. Mt. Rainier is near Seattle, WA, Arcadia is outside of Bangor, ME, and Cayhouga Falls is not too far from Cleveland, OH.
