I watched this film when it premiered in theaters back in June 24th 1994. I realized how much I was thankful to have my dad from this film despite his flaws. On July 21st 1994, we watched Angels In The Outfield as a proper family unaware that would be my dad's last night on earth, and his last film we watched together. The next evening I would be informed by my mom on July 22nd, 1994 that my dad had died in a car accident after a State Trooper came to our house to deliver the news to my mom. The Lion King was there for me when I needed comfort the most, since now I know how Simba felt. Sometimes it still hurts, and sometimes I can enjoy this film without crying at different moments. My dad was my Mufasa and I'll never forget him. My hope is that I haven't let him down with everything I'm going through and now that I'm a dad too since 2016. I hope will never experience the gut wrenching grief of losing me like I lost my dad suddenly. But if that happens, my message to him is the same as Mufasa: "Remember who you are. You are my son, and you are a Kohane...."

I remember seeing the Tree of Life at Disney World for the first time as a kid. It was 2010 and I was 7 years old at the time. Being that young, going to Disney World in general was the greatest thing ever. But seeing that tree was the highlight of the entire Orlando trip. I went back again back in 2021 so I would’ve been 19. When I saw that tree again, 0:00-0:50 started playing and I damn near started crying.
